There are certain folks in our lives to whom we pay particular attention when they speak because we know they have wisdom of a certain sort. John Hinderaker of Powerline is one of those folks for me.
He's reached an important conclusion about former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's presidential prospects - She doesn't have any. Says Hinderaker in a post pegged to the 59 percent unfavorability rating for Palin among independents that turned up in the latest CNN/Opinion Research poll:
"No one with a 59 percent unfavorability rating among independents has the chance of a snowball in Hell of being elected President," Hinderaker said. "2012 will be a vitally important election year; it is no time for a kamikaze Presidential campaign or for a cult of personality."
"Republicans (and conservatives) need a candidate who has a chance to win against an incumbent who, despite everything, is not particularly unpopular and who won't be able to do much visible damage between now and then."
Hinderaker calls himself a Palin fan, and his Powerline blog, which features him and colleagues Paul Mirengoff and Scott Johnson, has always been among the most thoughtful and incisive blogs on the Right. So Hinderaker's conclusion regarding Palin's suitability for a 2012 White House run carries a lot of weight among folks who would be crucially important to the former Alaska governor's prospects.
My thought is that Palin's rising disapproval has less to do with her response to the Tucson Massacre and more to do with public exhaustion. Between her books, her 2010 campaign prominence, the constant nagging of those on the Left who go absolutely berserk at the mere mention of her name, frequent appearances on Fox News, the dramas of her daughter's relationship with Levi and her success on "Dancing with the Stars," and the Discovery Channel reality TV series, Palin has been here, there, and everywhere for several months.
There is an old maxim that it doesn't matter what they say as long as they spell your name properly. But here's another maxim that has particular relevance for politicos in the Media Age - Too much of a good thing becomes a bad thing when there is no escaping the good thing.

Personally, I think it is high time for all conservatives to get a little “thin skinned” and start getting vocal about the crap the left spews about us. A good old “Who the hell do you think you are to accuse me of that?” response to the next liberal who says racist, kill people, hate the environment, etc., would sit really well with me. I’m ready to trade a little dignity for a little indignity and start fighting back.
Speech cadence...think of it as a pattern of acceptable speech rhythm that people are used to. Sarah's rhythm is off and it makes it difficult for others to completely understand her..so they say she is "stupid" in order to quickly dismiss their own lack of understanding.
You are lacking facts - Sarah is going to meet world leaders, she in fact is going to Israel this spring, she also has been invited to England to meet leaders of the Torie party and see Margaret Thatcher
As far as raising money - money collected by her PAC cannot be raised for a Presidential run, once you run for President or do an exploratory committee then you can raise funds
Last Summer Politico did a study of her PAC organization and discovered that it looks like it’s being ready to switch over to a Presidential organization easily, she hired an giant donor list group and foreign advisers
And the last but most important thing is that there is none out there like her, Mitt, Thune, Pawlenty, Daniels, Newt are not the most charismatic or Tea Party liked candidates, if she is in the race no matter how “overexposed” you think, people are not going to turn away from her without listening to what she has to say, which will be going after the Establisment as well as the Dems, which the others won’t do.
Thanks. In my next life I will be a professional writer or I will marry an editor..one of the two. :)~
Sarah has not said she will run, and if she has put together any muscle to build a campaign I haven’t heard about it. We all need to see some movement pretty darn soon. Short of Deity one eventually has to get an act together before the big money is sewn up by other candidates. Obama is said to be seeking the billion dollar range for his campaign. (Ho,Ho,Ho, good luck with that!)
Also, other Republican candidates are stymied until she makes up her dang mind and they deserve a running start against Obama to improve their chance of beating him. Eventually, the other conservatives are going to be in a heck of a fix because they need our votes but they aren’t allowed to prod her to get on or off the horse for fear of making us “mad”.
There’s time, but not much.
It takes more to run for president than that. She needs to raise hundreds of millions of dollars. She needs a campaign organization of solid advisers she trusts: economic adviser, foreign policy adviser, domestic policy adviser, pollster, campaign manager, etc. She can't do it all herself.
Exactly! These Romneybot RINOS are as transparent as the MGM (Marxist/Goebbels Media)
I certainly have had my share of typos, but I just had to post my comment because I got the giggles picturing the mime.
So you are a highly visual person...I see. Makes me laugh as well, now that you mention it. LOL
Dick Morris wants the Sarah Palin gig. That much was clear from his appearance on Bill O’lieaboutfreerepublicbeingaracistsightwithnoevidencewhilewavingblankpagesinyourface tonight.
That is so cool. I so wanted that to happen a few years ago during the campaign. There is no doubt that Palin is an amazing person. A real heroine to me.

No, I am just silly sometimes.
Do you have any doubt that, when the time comes, she will have all those advisors? And, importantly, they will be advisors who share her conservative principles.
At the same time, given her broad appeal, do you have any doubt that she is capable of raising "hundreds of millions"?
The libs are SO hoping that this is the case!
Oh they understand her just fine, they just don't like what she stands for, so they will try to diminish her every chance they get.
They knew it the first time they saw her.
It's why they go insane every time they think of her.
What they fail to understand is the crucible of firetheyre laying on, that is forging a terrible swift sword.
She’s no quitter!
... Fire they’re .....
