Just remember what happened in Iran. Do not for one minute make the mistake of thinking that the power behind these people wants democracy. That was the claim in Iran, too, and that didn’t work out well—for anyone.

I’m always quick to point out that the Civil War was NOT popular and fought by only 30% of the population at the time.

Good idea. I don't have access to Twitter or TV so this is about the only place I can get my news. Appreciate any tidbits.

And then there’s this:

By Lin Noueihed Lin Noueihed – 22 mins ago
TUNIS (Reuters) – Islamists marched through central Tunis on Friday, demanding religious freedom, while police fired teargas at anti-government protesters who have camped out around the prime minister’s office.

The march by about 200 people was the first significant Islamist protest since the fall of president Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali, who ran a strictly secular state in which Islamists were often jailed or forced into exile.

Some carried placards reading: “We want freedom for the hijab, the niqab and the beard.”

Mubarak isn’t a saint thats for sure.

From what I heard on Fox this morning the Muslim Brotherhood is behind these protests and the effort to overthrown Mubarak. They are muslim fundamentalists who have been using imams and the mosques to brainwash the younger population. Very similar to the method used in Iran to overthrow the Shah.

the muslim brotherhood is involved with these riots and if they take over then it is not good for Israel or us but I see the bozo the clown admin is quick to tell the Govt to stop and yet when those in Iran were up in arms there was crickets.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Seems bozo the clown has no problem with the muslim brotherhood doing riots but does have a problem with those in Iran wanting to get rid of an oppressive muslims Govt

and yet again our corrupt biased propaganda media covers for their messiah again

” defined by international problems stemming from his weak foreign policy... “

OT - but, lest we succumb to tunnel-vision, we need to keep one eye on the Kims and NK - who just might see an opportunity for mischief during a growing Mideast Crisis....

And, then there’s always Nuclear-armed Pakistan, whose Government has gotten progressively more unstable, of late....

Could be a “Perfect Storm” a-brewin’.....

I am watching the live video stream as I type this. I am in central USA.

Maybe the aJ website has been overwhelmed and has no more open connections to the video stream.

Unfortunately people like Mubarak and Ben Ali have made this situation, they have been ripping the countries off for years while people live in poverty and then of course the people turn to the one they have left religion who uses them and then it all eventually boils over.

When you support dictatorial regimes sooner or later the grip fails and the people revolt, it aint pretty and we’ve seen it all before and who do we have....Obama, the biggest wimp around.

This could set back the middle east decades.
