and its actually %100 billion according to Cantor not 60 as the WApo puts it.
$60 billion. Call me underwhelmed. At that rate we’ll have a handle on this deficit in about 1000 years.
Time to double up on a quadruple meat ax.
Did the eliminate the Department of Education? NO!
Got to do more to cut the budget.
Or the Departments of Energy and Commerce. How about Homeland Security, are we one bit safer in the country thanks to this behemoth and the tremendous price tag that goes with it?
I’d like to know, too. Might they have voted “no” because these cuts are pathetic in size ?
Homeland Security ought to be under Defense.
Here’s the roll call.
http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2011/roll147.xml
The Republicans who voted nay are:
John Campbell
Jeff Flake
Walter Jones
Agreed eliminate the department of education not only for the sake of our debt but for the sake of our children.
Anemic ...
Defund OBAMACARE, the CZARS, the EPA, the DOE, NPR etc etc etc
TT
Flake voting No.....interesting.
If it were up to me, the Department of Energy, the EPA and Homeland Security would also get the axe.
Jones is a RINO squish. Flake presumably wanted more spending cuts (although he is 100% untrustworthy on border issues). Campbell, I’m unsure of his motivations.
I’d also insert a section, no money for date nights or personal parties at the WH or Michelle’s shopping trips abroad.
Still has to pass the Senate, not likely.
But, if they maintain this stance and we take control of the Senate and pick a few seat in the house, we will win no matter if Barry MuBarak is re-elected but, we will most definitely put an end to these ridiculous programs.
For instance, Planned Parenthood.
I have no problem with their programs regarding prevention or family planning.
However, 99% of their funded activities are directly related to abortion.
If Abortion was such a great business idea, it would find funding from the private sector.
However, it wouldn’t survive without direct funding from the taxpayer, ever.
I guess Flake won’t be running for Senate.
I don’t know what the actual number is. $100 billion was the goal but they fell short?
Ace of Spades is saying:
Um: Half of Republican Caucus, Especially Leadership and Old Guard, Votes With Democrats To Block Additional $22 Billion in Cuts

Hmmm. A total guess.
Collins.
Snowe.
Voinovich.
Maybe “meat axe” is the appropriate term for abortions, if they are funded by the taxpayer.
If Planned Parenthood were a real business they would get their funding from the proceeds of their business or from private investors hoping to reap a reward from going public or selling to another business so they could deliver accretive results to the overall business.
Oops. It’s obviously time for me to go to bed.
*The HOUSE, you moron!!*
*Sneaks off to bang head on wall....*
