Science fiction writer turned his pathetic attempts at clever story line into a multimillion dollar religious venture. I guess that is an accomplishment.

I have the proud distinction of having read all ten volumes of “Mission Earth.” OK....it ain’t exactly great literature, but it did help kill a nice chunk of uncomfortable time for me.

Anyone else read it all? Anyone else think that Vol. 10 was written by someone other than L Ron?

It is widely believed that the creation of Scientology was the result of a bar bet between L. Ron Hubbard and Robert A. Heinlein. The story says L. Ron Hubbard dared that he could create a religion all by himself. According to Scientology critic Lindsay[4] this is "definitely not true", no such bet was ever made, it would have been "uncharacteristic of Heinlein" to make such a bet, and "there's no supporting evidence". However, several of Heinlein's autobiographical pieces, as well as biographical pieces written by his wife, claim repeatedly that the bet did indeed occur.

Hubbard was a 4th rate Sci-Fi writer who created a religion for the specified reason of getting rich. In that he succeeded.
I am amazed at the people that buy into Scientology and hand over their money to such a scam.

I was working on a low budget pilot being shot outside the so called Scientology "Celebrity Center" in Hollywood and needed to use their restroom......BADLY!!

Of course once inside the human drones milling around try to convert you by urging you to find your full potential etc etc. If you do manage to evade any members while inside, have no fear....cuz there were high def flat panel televisions on almost ever wall in the near 100 year old historic building including the restrooms extolling the virtues of Scientology and Dianetics! Yup, just like in some sci-fi movie.

The creepiest thing tho was when I walked by a very posh well apportioned office that had it's doors wide open. I asked one of the drones who's office it was and he replied with a creepy smile on his face...."Oh...That's Mr. Hubbard's office.....we keep it ready for when he returns!"

I replied with a pondered and puzled....."Oh.....OK. Thanx" and slowly walked away and never returned.

I admire the man because he knew human nature and our gullibility for him to make millions. He laughed all the way to the bank. Unfortunately, the feeble minded take him seriously.
