Md. Senators Pass Immigrant In-State Tuition Bill

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Maryland senators have passed the bill that gives an in-state tuition break to undocumented students.

The bill, passed in a 27-20 vote Monday night, still must be approved by the House of Delegates before going to Gov. Martin O'Malley, who has said he would sign it.

During debate, Sen. Victor Ramirez, the bill sponsor who immigrated legally as a child from El Salvador, told opponents that voting against the bill would not solve problems relating to people living illegally in the state. He said the legislation was needed to help people who live here reach their potential and contribute as much as possible to the state.

"It's about education," Ramirez, D-Prince George's, said. "It's not about immigration."

The financial implications for students are significant. In-state tuition is $8,416 annually, and out-of-state students pay $24,831 a year. "I think this sends a terrible message to everyone in the state that you can break the law and you can get a benefit."

They can give all the in-state tuition breaks to illegals they want. After school they will still have the same problem before school, no ss# card and no right to work in America. They are still in the same position before school and will be in the same position after after school.

“They can give all the in-state tuition breaks to illegals they want. After school they will still have the same problem before school”

I don’t think so.

THis is incremental amnesty.

Once you approve their schooling, you are setting the stage to approve their employment and it will be followed with laws against “discriminating” against illegals.

On the other hand, at least they are not Muslims.

If it is the primary purpose of the gubmint to educate people so they can reach their full potential, then make all education free so the poor citizens can avail of it. No loans only grants. This is nothing more than pandering to criminals.

Maryland once again proves that it is THE Freak State. There are so many government-teat-suckers here (government employees, government retirees, welfare losers and other human debris) that they love having a subclass around to exploit. Keep working, American Citizens, shut up and pay your taxes to support this socialistic nirvana state.

Maryland is broke. They can’t balance their budget.

No doubt they believe raising taxes on the workers will solve their financial crisis.

More likely those that can will LEAVE THE STATE

Some Senators from Maryland were on the Titanic and rushed to open the portholes to let the water out.

IMO, it’s obvious from everything being done by the Messiah and the Morons Within, it’s not about you; it’s about taking you down.

Oh, MD has plenty of them, too. Muzzies in Baltimore pushed in 2009 to have their own enclave within the city.

THis is incremental amnesty, could very well be, but we still have enough Americans who do not want amnesty to halt it.

“Laws” like this one are turning America into a public park, and not a nation.

This is not a human problem; it is a legal problem.

MD lawmakers(so-called) are saying that the law does not matter.

What a strange position to maintain.

Not only that but MD Democrats plan on staging another fiscal emergency where they ram though more tax increases to pay for crap like this just like they did in late 2007 after a yearlong spending orgy. Maryland is a great example of a public sector union run state.

BTW : This is illegal under federal law but there is no penalty.
