IS MARCO MAKING HIS MOVE?
Urgent Agenda ^ | March 16, 2011 | William Katz

Posted on 03/17/2011 4:57:40 AM PDT by SumProVita

"We've said here before that the Republican cast of presidential characters for 2012 isn't very exciting. The GOP, we've said, may have to reach down to the next generation to find a candidate who can wake things up, and we've suggested Marco Rubio, the new senator from Florida.

Now, Rubio may be making his move. From The Politico:

With a landmark spending debate engulfing Washington, the Florida Republican has, virtually overnight, launched the national profile the conservative movement has been clamoring for.

During his first national interview Monday, Rubio pounced on President Barack Obama — from the friendly confines of Laura Ingraham’s conservative radio show. He blasted a statement to the media, pledging to vote against the Republicans’ short-term spending resolution and calling it a “nickle-and-dime” approach. And he’s vowed to vote against everything that comes through the Senate unless it deals with addressing the $14 trillion debt crisis. ...snip... “Marco Rubio says, ‘What is this continuing resolution crap? I didn’t come in here to fund the government every two to three weeks, and $6 billion here and $6 billion there. What the hell is going on here?’”

"Rubios parents became us citizens and he was born here."

If Rubio's Cuban immigrant parents were not naturalized U.S. citizens at the time of his birth, he is NOT eligible for either the office of president or vice-president.

"I’m not sure the basis of your assertion that “natural born citizen” = “born in US of US citizen parents.” This definition is not in the Constitution and has never been reviewed by in the Supreme Court. The practical definition is “born in the US to parents that are legal residents of the US (citizen or not) OR born anywhere to parents who are US citizens.”

The intent of the Founding Fathers is clear:

Is Being a Born Citizen of the United States of Sufficient Citizenship Status to be President of the United States and Commander in Chief of Our Military? The Founders and Framers Emphatically Decided It Was Not!

Somwhat related thoughts: To those conservatives who oppose term limits, if Rubio had not been term limited as Florida Speaker, I doubt he would have decided to run against Crisyt..

Obama’s father is exactly why he is not president, except in the mainstream media.

Then why the incessant focus on where Obama was born? If all it boils down to is Obama's father, then constitutional lawyers and especially the legal team of then primary challenger Hillary Clinton, would have had a slam dunk case and Obama would have been disqualified during or even before the primary process.

As ruthless as the Clintons are, I do not fathom why they didn't press this issue if they believed they had a case. Why do you think they didn't?

I don’t agree with you in either case, but at least you are consistent, which is more than can be said for many who think rules apply to one side of the aisle but not the other.

The following describes the types of citizenship per the U.S. government.

USCIS - Citizenship

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=a2ec6811264a3210VgnVCM100000b92ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=a2ec6811264a3210VgnVCM100000b92ca60aRCRD

Natural born citizen isn’t a type of citizenship. It is ONLY an eligibility requirement to be President of the U.S.A.

My Dad is of Irish heritage. I guess that makes him a minority too?

I don’t give a good rip about the various grouping of people. We are all the same race: human.

Obama is a Marxist. THAT has to do with his base philosophy and world perspective.......something that is far more important. THERE is where we distinguish.

So, you say that those Americans who often sacrifice the most....who, at times, suffer torture....who serve and protect this nation are ineligible...if they were born where their parents were ordered to serve by that same nation? (I bet Code Pink would agree.)

I don’t know of any judge versed in Constitutional law that would so rule.

Sheesh!

You make it sound like I wrote Article II, section 1, of the U.S.Constitution myself, just to be a meanie. Honest, I had nothing to do with it.

A good source of historical information on this subject is Leo Donofrio’s online site:

But he simply does not have enough political/life experiences yet to become President IMO. He’s not even 40 years old yet and barely qualifies for the office!

Where in Hell do you get this crap from. What kind of playbook is that???

What danamco? Is my opinion not allowed to be given on freerepublic anymore? Instead of answering with invectives, why not answer with your opinions and why you feel that way. Instead of trying to berate other freepers.

You sure have the right to your opinion and that's exactly why you got the question you got. Especially with reference to an inexperience usurper sitting (sometimes?) in the Whit-Hut!!!

So, your reasoning is that because America made the mistake of putting one inexperienced politician into the job of Presidency it's okay to make the same mistake? Interesting logic.

Well, compared to YOUR FReeper inexperience, seems that Marco Rubio has MORE under his belt than you have!!!

"Rubio was the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives during the 2007 and 2008 legislative sessions. He was first elected to the Florida House on January 25, 2000, from the 111th district."

Wow, so now your logic jumps to Freeper experience. Gee, I didn't know that Freeper experience equates to actual life experiences. You see, I have a lot of life experiences and only about 4 years freeper experience. I'd rather have the life experience. And when Rubio gets more political experience, I'll definitely consider him. Being speaker of the Florida House of Reps qualifies you to be President about as much as voting present in Illinois does IMO.

You seem so angry and touchy about this subject. Do you work on Rubios campaign?? If so, I hope he doesn't get advice from you on debate pointers. He'll go down in flames...
