So you are saying it’s Sarah’s fault that Obama is bombing Libya?

Did you just drop in from DU with an alias?

__________

Reagan’s negatives are way too high. He would likely lose to Mondale. We can’t afford to nominate another weak candidate and let that train wreck of a Senator become president.

Kristol found Palin for McCain. He took a trip up to Alaska and was a big supporter of her.

Seems he is miffed she stepped down from her office as Governor.

“will allow Republicans to throw out the RINOs and move sharply to the right”

Do you think it will allow them to move so far to the right that they actually approach the center?

The biggest (and really only one that comes partially true) reason I see Republicans give for not wanting to see Palin run is they say too many people hate her, think she’s stupid, etc, etc.

I would remind the younger Republicans out there that they said the same thing about Ronald Reagan, whom I supported in 1976... I was so bitter with Ford then I actually cast a vote for Carter. What a mistake that was, but I fixed THAT in 1980. Still, I was stationed in Massachusetts in 1980 and EVERYONE there hated Reagan there, right? I mean, Carter should have won there, right? Well, guess what!? Reagan won in—of all places—Massachusetts in 1980!!!!

Now surely, if that can happen, then I think Sarah can eek out a red-state electoral win in 2012 against Jimmy Cater II, er, Barack Obama. Whoever our major nominee against Obama is, we all need to pull the lever for that person, male or female.

Can Palin win?

Maybe. But we won’t know until and unless she runs, and then we’ll have to see if she can win Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida... I think she can win Iowa, SC and Fla easily, NH will be harder because all the Romneybots...

But I really think she can do it, and then, like Reagan, will have the wind at her sails and can focus on just how BAD Obama has been. People will be forced to take another look at her, and frankly, the media has shot their wad. They can bring nothing NEW about her that is as bad as they’ve already done.

JUST LIKE RWR IN 1980. IT’S UNCANNY!

The biggest question going into the election season in my mind is whether or not Obama is going to get a credible primary challenger, and whether it will be from the left or the right. Or both.

On the GOP side, anything can happen, of course, but I’d say it’s highly probable that if Sarah Palin runs, she wins the nomination, and that if she doesn’t, whomever she endorses does. If that is not correct and the nominee is Romney or similar, I think the GOP loses and could have serious downticket problems, even with disarray from the Dems. Otherwise, anyone who wins the GOP primary should be in a good position to win the general election, all the more so if Obama is battered in his primary or even manages to lose it.

Palin is not the only name I've crossed off my list. Others include Romney, Gingrich, Huckabee, Santorum, Paul, and I forget who else.

Right now, I'm not thrilled with anyone.

Do you seriously think anyone can beat her?

Speaking of Ronald Reagan, Sarah should just tilt her head, smile at Kristol, and say:

“Well, Bill... There you go, again... You ain’t seen nothin’ yet!”

I used to subscribe to the the Weekly Standard. I don't anymore. Boneheaded comments like this from Kristol is the reason why. Bill, take it somewhere where someone will care.

What is your opinion of Duncan Hunter (either one)?

How about Guv Palin on the top of the ticket, Duncan D as the VP...

His father as Secretary of Defense.

Donald Trump as US Trade Representative. :)

I dont like either Palin (most recently because of her shameless role of goading Obama into the Libya mess) or Kristol but I suspect that Kristol abandoned her because he follows the standard neocon credo: the rats should always leave a sinking ship. If Sarah were higher in the polls, he’d still be her biggest booster.

Your post has my head spinning! She’s brilliant but she’s also an idiot, she’s media savvy but she’s also an inarticulate moron! She’s smart at the same time she’s really dumb!

“No one has hacked FR.....just too many old RNC hacks still hanging on.”

Sorry, but I am convinced that you are mistaken.

There have been too many 1998 dates popping up attached to user names that I don’t remember having seen before—as, for instance, I remember yours.

And every one of these is pimping something harmful to conservatism. It’s just too many coincidences to write off as a coincidence.

Weak? In whose reality?

In any case, she's not a candidate. Not yet. But right now -- even as a private citizen with zero representative power and essentially nothing more than a pundit -- she is the epitome of strength in her appeal and in her focused message. Her books are best-sellers (look at the Amazon numbers). She draws thousands at public appearances. She speaks and the world is interested in what she has to say. Guys like Romney are ambiguous, equivocal, fuzzy -- in a word, weak.

Palin is strong because her message is clear and her image is clear. You think independents want middle-of-the-road? You're wrong; independents and indeed Americans in general are SICK AND TIRED OF MIDDLE-OF-THE-ROAD weakness and ambiguity. It LOSES. Independents LIKE clarity and decisiveness -- it's why they voted for Reagan in droves, and why they remain singularly aloof to mushy moderates like Romney.

Meanwhile, if you are paying attention to the real world rather than the false picture projected by the entertainment culture and the MSM, you will see that Obama is LOATHED, hated, despised, held in contempt, by a ratio of about ten to one (often more) by those who make online comments on non-conservative news sites such as Yahoo News, LA Times, and ABC.

Obama's popularity is pretend, make-believe.
