Donald Trump's dished dollars to Clinton, Rangel, Kerry, Reid, Lautenberg, Schumer and more Dems
NY Daily News ^ | 4/17/11 | ALISON GENDAR

Tea Party darling and "birther" blowhard Donald Trump hasn't always put his money where his mouth is: The Donald has splashed campaign cash on a "Who's Who" who's who of liberal pols.

Trump shot to the top of GOP presidential polls by embracing debunked conspiracies about President Obama's birthplace — but he repeatedly has opened his fat checkbook for a slew of Democratic stars, a review by the Center for Responsive Politics found.

The all-time apple of Trump's eye is beleaguered Harlem Rep. Charlie Rangel, the once powerful once-powerful ex-head of the tax-writing Ways & Means Committee — and a GOP bogeyman.

The casino king has pumped $24,750 into Rangel's war chest.

New York's Democratic senators also have pocketed payouts from Trump.

I posted the site off Trump’s donations weeks ago. The media took long enough.

Bottom line he loves him the Clinton’s big time.

If Trump wins the Republican nomination, given the message he has been broadcasting, I’ll be happy to vote for him. If he runs as a non-Republican I won’t give him the time of day.

Agree with your analysis of donations.

Only the unions are foolish enough to put all their eggs in one basket. And only the unions are stupid enough to do that and aggressively antagonize the other party.

Most business people (and many smart politicians) are generally apolitical. Only a few extreme outliers can get away with being strong ideologues and survive. It’s just common sense - create enemies and life is harder on you.

Many Tea Party members are “older” (pre-retirement, retired) who are very concerned about the life their children and grandchildren will live in America. They were driven to act because America is in deep financial trouble right now. Could it be that Trump, given his large family and the importance he gives to being a good parent, is being driven by the same concerns this time? [In effect - Trump’s link to the Tea Party]

theAmerican public and voters to the immense, dark dangers facing America. Only Palin, Bachman & Cain have done like actions. the rest of the Republican POTUS wannabees are frightened RINOs or political deadbeats with no spine or determination

I only see Trump as the one that can win a national election at this time. I like all of these others mentioned but it is not their time. We can't afford 4 more yrs - possibly it is too late now of an anti-American Moooslum destroying us daily.

When did Trump first join the Tea Party? Does anyone know?

Exactly, right now a loyal American is good enough, even if he’s not the perfect conservative. The rest of the world is eating our lunch, and we need somebody who can stem the tide.

“Ideological purist? Cut me a break. Trump is pro-choice, pro-gun control and has come out in favor of nationalized health care.”

Wrong. He is adamantly pro-life, and anti-gay marriage. He is not for gun control, he is for longer waiting periods for background checks. And he is for a national health care system that is market based, not government controlled.

Wrong. He is adamantly pro-life,

He is personally pro-life but in favor of a woman's right to choose. Which makes him ... drum roll ... pro choic (the same weaselly approach of Rudy and Romney, BTW).

and anti-gay marriage.

I never said he wasn't.

He is not for gun control, he is for longer waiting periods for background checks.

And he's in favor of an assault weapons ban. Which makes him pro-gun-control.

And he is for a national health care system that is market based, not government controlled.

He has made statements in favor of a Canadian-style healthcare system.

Arrparently you are willing to be hoodwinked by Trump. I am not.

Exactly, right now a loyal American is good enough, even if he’s not the perfect conservative

And that is the other side of the RINO shuffle. First side - those opposed to Trump are ideological and single-issue. Second side - Trump is not a perfect conservative.

Both claims are wrongheaded. Trump is not a perfect conservative, he is NO conservative. And folks pointing that out aren't single issue, given how much Trump deviates from conservatism.

I don't think I have ever seen so many Freepers take leave of their senses about a potential candidate in the entire time I have been here.

Nope, he is not co-opting the Tea Party. As far as he is concerned, the Tea Party knows that when their enemies are beating each other up, just get out of the way so none of the crap is splattered on them.

by embracing debunked conspiracies about President Obama's birthplace

Whenever someone says this, they should be forced to give the evidence.

Donald Trump is a businessman. You have to “grease” the local polititicans to get your permits passed to build. Nothing out of the ordinary here. This is a non-issue.

thank you. It's the cost of doing business, and certainly proves his free-enterprise cred; he sets a useful example for succeeding in a socialist order.

as for that attempted smear by the daily news, they were surely praising him when he did it.

and as for all the conspiracy theories, which had gotten looney by the second post, some people have waaaaaay too much time on their hands. google "occams sword."

“We need to be very careful about this Trump deal because he’s not working for us. He’s working for Soros.”

Oh for heaven’s sake. Another conspiracy theorist heard from. Geez, where do you get this crap from. What inside track or tin foil hat are you channeling from?

If anything, Trump is following in Palin’s footsteps.

And Bachmann's, Limbaugh's, Levins, etc. footsteps. Trump cares about one thing only - Trump.

Hmmm...The Daily News (and the Post) dishing The Donald after years of sucking up to him. They’ll live to regret that.

I'm amazed at how many freepers are willing to excuse away Trumps donations to Dems. If Trump gave donations to the devil some here would have an excuse for it. Very sad and pathetic.
