The greater danger of 'carry' (Wisconsin barf alert)
Milwaukee J-S ^ | 29 june 2011 | John Ridley

Posted on 06/29/2011 11:20:56 AM PDT by rellimpank

Life would be a whole lot simpler if our omniscient Founding Fathers had left us a Constitution replete with footnotes, references and Cliffs Notes so it would be clear to all concerned how to correlate the intent of their 1776 utterances with the realities of 2011. They didn't, so we are left to speculate.

In regard to the "right to bear arms," I'm willing to concede that under our Constitution, citizens possibly have the right to carry a concealed weapon to work, to the dentist, the hairdresser, golfing, to the synagogue or the movies.

My question is who would want to? With crime rates falling in even our toughest neighborhoods, who besides paramilitary militias could possibly conceive of a clear and present danger that daily necessitates carrying a gun?

Whatever possesses a person to get all obsessed about "carrying" while living and working in ZIP codes where the incidence of violent crime is minuscule? Some say there is a need for concealed carry in these areas because you never know when there might be a need for self-protection from attack by an itinerant vicious assailant.

The Second Amendment has nothing to with crime, hunting or any sport involving firearms. Its intent is to give the citizens of this country the means to resist, and if necessary, overthrow tyranny.
Put simply, it is the right to revolt.

Colt equalized normal people to Union Thuggs..

The problem is.. DO the Unions OWN Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan?..
They surely think they do.. the teachers, police and firefighters.. think they OWN those states..
Other Federal and State(and local) government workers use them as foils..

The question IS.... Are those States too far gone for FREEDOM to exist?....

ONLY “right to work” States have anything close to FREEDOM...
For those states have the right to “NOT BE A MEMBER OF A UNION”..

I’ll take the opposite from what he said at the end, and say that I hope God makes these hoplophobes see the folly of their ways.

Greetings Bigh4u2:

From reading the Milwaukee Urinal comments, apparently this Johnny that can’t read is a MD too.

Cheers,

I haven’t left my home in years without my gun holstered to my side. That’s not unusual in Texas, where I live.

Not once have a seen a wild west shootout. Not once have I even seen someonce pull a gun on anyone else.

An armed society is a polite society—maybe you never heard that truism.

Dead guy found shot in the service alley behind our house on saturday night. Not much said about it. We've been burglarized twice and the neighbors car was stolen the same night the guy was shot.

I have the alley and home property on DVR cameras and alarms. Nobody from the police has even asked us for any video files from the alley recordings.

There was no gunfire on the audio feed and just a few motion trips from vehicles. We figure he was dumped there.

The obvious solution is to only carry a weapon on the days that you’re going to be assaulted.

I live in the country where anyone may or may not be armed. After 47 years I still have yet to see a shootout.

Greetings AEMILIUS PAULUS:

If many people start carrying guns on a daily basis eventually we will be back to Dodge City 1870.

Just in case you missed it, Chicago 2011 is worse than Dodge City 1870.

Cheers,
OLA

Dodge City 1870 had zero crime.

No, seriously - show us a rigorous study of how concealed carry has led to an increase in gun violence. Or get stuffed.

Whatever possesses a person to get all obsessed about "carrying" while living and working in ZIP codes where the incidence of violent crime is minuscule? Some say there is a need for concealed carry in these areas because you never know when there might be a need for self-protection from attack by an itinerant vicious assailant.

Tell that to the four people who were murdered in a Long Island pharmacy last week by a criminal intent on stealing prescription painkillers.

Oh, I forgot, you can't tell them, because they are all dead. What a difference it would have made if some or all of them had been "carrying".

[ I live in the country where anyone may or may not be armed. After 47 years I still have yet to see a shootout. ]

Shootouts happen every night(and day) in some jurisdictions..
Gangs murder people every single day.. with illegal guns..
And the police cannot do much about it.

Gangs are pretty quiet in gun rich States..
Where I live.. even the women are packin..
Not much car jacking going on or burglary..
