We don't do water cannon, we rely on consent ( Theresa May, Home Secretary UK)

Vigilantes were forced onto the streets last night to protect their homes and businesses after police failed to materialise at many of the scenes of looting and violence which swept across London.

As officers lost control of the streets locals were forced to take the law into their own hands, arming themselves with sticks and chasing looters away from their properties.

In Dalston and Hackney, north-east London, Turkish shopkeepers and their families fought back against looting youths, before spending the night standing shoulder-to-shoulder in an attempt to deter further attacks. One man said: 'This is Turkish Kurdish area. They come to our shops and we fight them with sticks.' Despite increasing calls for the police to get tough with the rioters, Home Secretary Theresa May today sparked anger as she appeared to dismiss the notions that water cannons and even the Army could be used to ensure violent scenes are not repeated tonight.

As police were slammed for appearing to let looters run riot under their noses, Mrs May instead advocated a more softly-softly approach.

She said: 'The way we police in Britain is not through use of water cannon. The way we police in Britain is through consent of communities.'

It will be interesting to see if her political career survives this statement.

She is right, actually.

And since the cops are the flash point for the rioting anyway, maybe they should stay off the street.

No reason for cops to gun people down during a chase, esp if the person is just trying to get away. So the cops were wrong to gun down the criminal in the public street and should have simply arrested him at a different time, when they could cuff him and put him in a paddy wagon as opposed to summary execution.

This riot is actually in response to police brutality let’s not forget. Yeah the riot is bad, but the government thugs get the blame for instigating it.

Leave it to the recent immigrants to stand their ground when home-grown p#ssies have abdicated their responsibilities.

Hello

“consent of communities” is government by the people, fo rthe people and of the people.

It is the definition of true power and authority. Ask any Romanian.

I was watching the BBC last night on the local propaganda b.s. (aka PBS), and they were covering it like a storm moving from neighborhood to neighborhood.

What in the world are these “youths” rioting about? It does not seem to still be related to some shooting incident of several days ago. My G**, I worry about this happening here soon. We already have seen those Flash Robs going on in several cities. This rioting in GB is just a step beyond that. And we have a country of unemployed, angry people right now. Here, however, at least the police can be more aggressive. I feel sorry for the poor people in England who are frightened each night about these riots in their towns where the police cannot use real force.

Way to go, Turks!

I live in Berlin, Germany, in a heavily Turkish populated area. I get the feeling the same would happen here.

The German polizei aren’t as wussified as their UK bobby counterparts, however, and if this kind of nonsense started u here, there’d be some busted heads.

But like you said, “Leave it to the recent immigrants to stand thier ground when home-grown p#ssies have abdicated their responsibilities.”

Kudos to the Turks....keep up the good work!

'The way we police in Britain is not through use of water cannon. The way we police in Britain is through consent of communities.'

This is truly insane. In fact, it seems all of Britain has become a giant lunatic asylum, and the sickest among them have been elected to office. There is no possible good outcome there. They are doomed to more and more anarchy. Poor, poor Britain, woe is thee. I will watch your decent and demise with great sorrow.

How much money does this maggot b*tch make? How much tax-payer money is spent on her benefits? How much pension will she get? How much gilded medical care?

Are there any PEOPLE left in “Great” Britain... or are they all a bunch of SHEEP?

This fool just basically gave the green light to every looter within the sound of her voice, or image on TV (or “telly” as our British cousins are fond of saying) to continue on with their “wealth redistribution” scheme.

This is fuel on the flames.

Imbecile.
