Political observers of a certain age will remember the night of March 31 1968. At the very end of a long speech about the Vietnam War, President Johnson shocked the nation with his announcement that I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your President.
Dont be surprised if Obama makes a similar announcement.
To understand why, its worth looking at how we got the President we have.

He won’t step down. But he is responsible for a jobless, housingless “recovery.” He should go.
If Obama not seeking re-election is the premise, the article is garbage. Obama is a narcissist, it would be impossible for him to NOT seek re-election.
I would bet a lot on that.
He may be in the Big House by the time the next election rolls around...
This is wishful and fanciful thinking. “The One” not seek re-election? Are you kidding me?? Seriously? A better question will be if/when he loses re-election, will we have to send the Secret Service in to drag him and Moochelle out of the White House kicking and screaming while having a death grip on the front door.
I figure if it looks like there is no way Obama will be re-elected, the people who control him may make sure someone runs against him - or he can decide not to seek re-election on his own.
But the best part of the article is:
Four years on, there is a small but growing rumbling in the political underground that Obama was chosen precisely because of his light weight. The argument is that he was promoted over Hillary because he would be malleable and would lead from behind. In other words, hed follow.
Party elders sensed that his charisma, effective speaking style and inspiring tale as a bi-racial success story made him a product they could sell to the voters. After the sale, hed be easy to control.
Spot on, friend.
HA-HA-HA, dream on!
Maybe Pelosi will quit too, and Reid...LOL
If Obama does actually get re-elected he will inherit one hell-of-a-mess from himself.
1.) malignant narcissist, or a
2.) megalomaniac. Or both.
In any case, he is not connected to reality. In his warped mind, he is a success.
Mr. Obama is very, very proud. Even though he has no sand.
He is also devoid of a sense of humor.
Chose not to run?
Believe it when I see it.
For all we know, a deal may have already been cut for him to walk away scott free!
He is too arrogant to make this decision on his own but could potentially be forced or blackmailed into it by the Clintons and other high-powered Democrats who fear for their party’s future.
The Buffalo News ran a stunning editorial yesterday calling for him to be replaced. Look for the leak-and-drip campaign to gather steam.
Campaigning and community organizing is all the narcissist knows, but he’s going to not run in 2012?
That’s what I expect. Obama is not a leader. He is a follower and does not make decisions on his own.
I think Hillary will run and get the nomination.
Beyond that, any inkling of retirement on his part would cause him to be slapped into reality by Michele who relishes living like royalty and playing the privileged elitist role to the hilt.
She is probably the one behind all the early fundraisers going on and will fight tooth and nail to hold onto those perks for as long as possible.
Is that a new term, meaning lose in a landslide?
