@BreakingNews: Pieces have fallen from Natl Cathedral in DC; structural assessment underway http://bit.ly/ndy3Bk At least one of the finials has fallen from the tower (at a Drudge link, the article seemed to say three had broken; perhaps I misread that). It looks like the finials are cruciform.
[This is seriously reminiscent of the storm a couple of years ago which broke the steeple and cross off the church where the ELCA governing body was voting to turn the ELCA pro-homosexual.]
So: God's critique of the Episcopal Church and/or the National Cathedral? He removes one of the crosses on the building?
Weren't they going to read from the Koran at the National Cathedral this month? When was that -- anyone remember?

I was on the 11th floor of the (at the time) Crocker Bank building in downtown L.A. when I was a youth and a 5.6 hit. It was weird to feel the swaying and hear the walls creaking. Yep.. I worked on the 20'th floor at Sunset and Argyle in Hollywood for around 8 years... had a couple quakes while I was in my office. Each time thought it was a queesy stomach from too much coffee or something... sort of like a seasick sensation.

Holy beJesus...finally got some gummint workers to move...took and earthquake....but it has finally happened! Most of them have been sitting on their fat azzes so long doing nothing except getting paychecks that I’m sure the quake made them dizzy upon trying to stand up and move...

The drama here is that the North Anna VA reactor is only about 15 miles from the epicenter and it is built to only withstand a 5.9 to 6.1 quake.

That was the Baja quake - Easter Sunday last year.
Went on a long time.

Masonry fell on cars in Tysons Corner. WMAL is reporting people with minor injuries; damage to one or more embassies; and a possible tilt to the Washington Monument. It was bizarre; I was in an office near the Manassas Battlefield and it shook for about 30 seconds. I’d never been in an earthquake before. It was odd that the shaking seemed to be coming from above us, not from below.

I’m on the 25th floor in West Los Angeles. The building is on rollers and all of the file drawers open.
