Has Sarah Palin exhausted the patience of her supporters?
The Christian Science Monitor ^ | 08/24/2011 | Peter Grier

Posted on 08/26/2011 10:21:29 AM PDT by BuckeyeTexan

There is some evidence that while waiting for a potential Sarah Palin presidential run, her potential voters have moved on and now support other tea party-backed candidates, such as Rick Perry or Michele Bachmann.

Has Sarah Palin waited too long to announce she’s running for president?

(...) So if she does throw her snow machine helmet into the ring, she might start a White House race closer to the back of the pack than the front.

First, let’s address the waiting part. The former Alaska governor on Tuesday denied that she intends to announce a White House bid on September 3, (...)

(snip)

Palin might use the September 3 address to endorse another candidate. She might use it to make it clear she will announce at some point – Governor Perry used that same sort of slow-unveiling strategy as he edged into the race.

But the problem is at this point she may be exhausting the patience of potential Palinites.

(snip)

“I think Palin could get back a number of voters should she get into the race – people who gave up on her running and moved on to someone else. But, I do not think it would put her in a strong enough position to get into first or second place,” writes Erickson.

Some other analysts are less negative. In an opinion piece for CNN, political scientist Paul Sracic of Youngstown State University in Ohio writes that Palin’s on-camera optimism about America seems natural and akin to that of GOP icon Ronald Reagan.

“This offers at least the possibility that, despite her current low standing in the polls, she will be able to leap-frog over the more negative sounding Bachmann and Perry, and compete head-to-head with Romney,” writes Sracic.

One word: NO! Two words: Hell NO! The best is worth waiting for. Who is anyone spiting by moving to an inferior candidate? Only America itself. Bob

What if Sarah doesn’t run and endorses Perry??

Certainly a re-evaluation of the political landscape would then be in order should that occur. As Sarah Palin might phrase it, it will be time not for retreating but for reloading!

It’s not irrational adoration. It’s a vote for the candidate of my choice.

I’ve had this argument before and frankly, it bores me. I vote for the candidate of my choice. That’s what I get to do by law.

The purpose of this website is to advance conservatism. That doesn’t mean voting for a RINO like Myth Romney or Huntsman.

There are a lot of candidates I could live with — Bachmann, Cain and Perry among them. But if the nominee is a leftist, I’m off the reservation and a lot of Freepers would agree with me.

I've read this entire posting from back to front (sometimes it is better that way)....and the usual posters are prevelent. From the nay sayers like "poly" (the DU operative on the site), to the pro SP folks like 2nd Div....

I've a question: just what the "f" does my patience have to do with whether or not Gov. Palin decides to run???? Hell, we've been waiting for the Chicago Cubs for over 109 years....is a true Cubs fan patience ever worn out?? NO.

You either support Gov. Palin, what she stands for, what she could do for the country....or you don't. It's that simple.

If you are willing to "dump" the Governor because of your inability to maintain your patience....then you really never truly supported the Governor in the first place. And if your patience is that weak with other consequential things in your life...then I really feel sorry for those around you.

Governor Palin remains mostly quiet…..she is waiting....she (and only she) knows her battle plan....she (and only she) knows her timing.....she is learning....studying the opposition....guarding the "cubs"....waiting quietly with an occasional "roar"…..reconnoitering the challengers and enemies from within and without.....studying weaknesses....building and conserving her own strength....endlessly practicing....reading...honing her skills.....waiting.....waiting…

This war has not yet begun. What has been seen of the other candidates to date has been nothing but minor and irrelevant skirmishing. Candidates in...candidates out....candidates winning....candidates losing.....candidates saying silly things.....candidates saying cogent, insightful things….candidates being personally attacked by the msm (including fox) and the largely irrelevant, faux intelligencia (rove, krauthammer, morris, olberman, matthews, etc) ….candidates being dismissed by the msm…..candidates attacking one another instead of concentrating on the real issues and enemy.

It is a very, very long way yet to November, 2012. There is no need to rush. Keeping her own council Mrs. Palin smiles knowingly, and trusting in the loyalty of her supporters, remembers the words of Napolean, "Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake." and General Patton, "Our basic plan of operation is to advance and to keep on advancing regardless of whether we have to go over, under, or through the enemy. We are going to go through him like crap through a goose; like shit through a tin horn!"

When she arrives, you can count on total war. She has learned how to fight. She has been through this before….all the way to election day. She does not spin; she attacks, all the time….constantly; she does not back away from principles; she means exactly what she says...and says exactly what she means. She has built and continues to add to her base of support because of who and what she is....not because of who or what she panders to.

For heaven's sake, if you support the Governor and what she would be able to do, then patience.....patience....

Wait for it!

And keep the faith....!

But having said all that, I just don't see her jumping in at this point, unless Perry implodes some how.

Good analysis in your post, but you have to know that Sarah decided to run for President the day she removed herself from being Governor. ANd this is a matter of faith and God....she believes not running would be an insult to God. She will run, she may not win, but she will run.

She’s so amazing, I’m sure that if she doesn’t run she’ll lay down the perfect argument for whomever she endorses.

It’s why she resigned as Governor. She’s working on Fox, they are helping her with her campaign, by letting her get away with pretending to not know if she is running.

Geez! What internet forums have you been browsing? Her true story is out there and available with just a little bit of research.

It’s not irrational adoration. It’s a vote for the candidate of my choice.

By your scenario, she will not be a "candidate". She will only be a "throw away write-in name" such as voting for yourself or voting for "Abraham Lincoln" or "Mickey Mouse".

Yes, it is your legal right to write in "Papa Smurf" if you want to but it is a legal right with consequences.

By your scenario, Palin is not the GOP nominee. There is therefore no chance she can win the Presidency. Not even Sarah Palin will vote for herself. She has said that she would support the GOP candidate that gets Obama out of the White House.

That leaves only one possible beneficial use for your vote: To defeat Marxist Obama.

Yet, you would refuse to help Sarah Palin defeat Marxist Obama in order to ...... to what?

Seriously ..... in order to what?

It is your legal right to help Marxist Obama get reelected for whatever reason. However, if you help Marxist Obama get reelected by throwing away your vote as an homage to Sarah Palin, it is an act of irrational adoration where you have put the adoration of a politician above the safety and well being of America.

She’s running, there’s no doubt about it. It’s why she resigned as Governor. She’s working on Fox, they are helping her with her campaign, by letting her get away with pretending to not know if she is running. Now she’s ticked at Rove for saying he believes she is running, because that’s not with the program that Fox news is following, they are all supposed to be pretending that they don’t know. So what does Palin do? She makes a false accusation against Rove that he said he had insider information. Rove never said anything about insider information. Nice lady, that’s who I want running the free world, someone who doesn’t get it that the ends don’t justify the means.

*******************************

I would certainly suppose that someone making accusations as serious as this would have documentation to support them? Yes?

I like and support Palin, but will not wait much longer.

I am disappointed in her lingering too long on this announcement as well, but why would she wait so long, if she intended to not run?

I expect most that would move on to favor another candidate would not contribute money to that candidate, I certainly wouldn't. However acting coy this long has costs, some important Republican leadership like yesterday's endorsement of Perry, by Inhofe, those kind are hard to undo, of course there is no guarantee that he would have endorsed her anyway, but waiting too long could hurt.

My tagline is still my intention.

Wow! Got any facts to back up your fantasy?

Let's start with any quote where she mentions Tokyo Rove. With a link.

could Perry have survived that ethics law?

Question might be more like “Would Perry have signed that ethics bill into law and then resigned when the law he just signed was (ab)used against him?

Nope, Perry would not have signed a bill that would have had him kicked out of office. Probably not.

Last time I checked, there were 27 days in September after the 3rd.

There is also August 25,27,28,29,30,31, Sept 1,2.

I think she was tying to show that Tokyo Rove had no inside knowledge.

Another thing to keep in mind, she had previously promised to announce on a local radio show, whose name I do not recall. If her word means anything and I firmly believe it does, then she could announce anytime before her next speech.
