In my fantasy world:

Dear Mr. President,

Please forward a full copy of your plan with economic data backing it up and an estimate of the total cost per job created (not saved) by your plan to the CBO by close of business September 2, 2011. Upon evaluation I will decide whether you will be needed to discuss the fine points of your plan, which may be better handled by sworn testimony in front of a budget subcommittee rather than a speech before a joint session of Congress.

Sincerely,
John A. Boehner
Speaker of the United States House of Representatives

“Make no mistake: as I’ve said before, time and again, the system is broken. We must seize this opportunity for winning the future. So, let me be clear: change is coming, because the status quo is unacceptable.

There are those who say that we cannot ask the wealthiest among us to pay their fair share, but instead ask our children and grandchildren to sacrifice everything they have saved or created. That would be a return to the failed policies of the past. Just like the previous Administration, they offer not one dime to restore our reputation or to invest in essential services, green jobs or shovel-ready projects.

Although we have come back from the brink, from the worst economy since the Great Depression that I inherited, we still have more work to do to bring hope and change to America’s working families.”

So deathly afraid of having a lot of normal Americans hear several Conservative candidates all on stage together condemning his socialist ideals, his hatred for America, his plans to destroy this country, and create race wars.

If I were a Congressman/Senator, I’d not even attend...in fact, I’m going to email mine and urge them not to.

This is just stupid. His speech doesn’t warrant this linmd of audience.

Boehner has every reason to turn him down. He should stick by the republican candidates and defer to their night. obama could do his dog and pony show the day before or the day after.

Since you have already hacked into TOTUS to see what has been entered, maybe you can “improve” it slightly for the speech. I would love to see him start out with “I am the very model of a modern marxist radical...”

Only if there is a House Response afterwards should they allow this to be primetime with conservatives in attendance.

The last time they did this, he attacked Paul Ryan.

Obama spent August goofing off and questioning the GOP Congress’ patriotism. Now he wants to give an urgent speech and use them as campaign props. Boehner should tell Obama he can give his speech at the White House anytime he pleases.

Can he do that?

Yes. Article II Section 3.

Obama loves the "convene" clause, but regularly ignores the "faithfully execute" clause.

Is he sure he wants to risk another you lie moment?

There will be a lot of evil “tea party” reps in the audience this time.

There is no reason in the world that Boehner should accede to this request. No reason at all. If Boehner is capable of reproduction he would not allow this. Caligula does not understand the separation of powers.

0bama wants to make a re-election campaign speech. It will be a great oppurtunity for him to point his finger at the Republicans and lie his ass off.
