Insult Obama? Not on this campus!

Insulting the president and other government officials is practically a national pastime in the United States. This is a testament to the freedom of our society; in some parts of the world, insulting those who govern earns you swift punishment, or at least official censorship. That isn’t the case in America — unless you live on a college campus.

Students at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) in Texas found this out the hard way yesterday when they erected a “free speech wall” — a recently popular way for students to highlight the importance of free speech in which students put up a freestanding wall covered in paper, upon which anyone can write anything they want.

So if the word you are talking about is allowed elsewhere, you can hardly contend that’s the reason it’s being removed.

But, if the poster had written "Obama is the worst POTUS - Ever!"; the Professor would have been unable to do anything - except cry and stomp his feet. By using the F-bomb, you gave him the weapon he needed to remove the term.

Did you read the article. It specifically said the profanity was not the issue. It sounds like your configuration would have been removed as well.

Typical student ratings for the liberal educational elite professorial class. A pathetic collection of pecksniffs who hate America. We need to get rid of all of them.

It is the result of the 1960s hippie college movement to bring the most foul language into the mainstream.

It shows that college students back then and today lack basic communication skills, so that they can not communicate without reverting to gutter language, the very thing that higher education was supposed to prevent.

According to the article, the word F¥£k was written on the board for other subjects however, it was only when it was used in conjunction with Obama that the professor had a problem with it.

The article is not misleading. The focus of the article is the fact that the Professor only went after the F word directed at Obama.

If you want to create your own news item and ignore certain facts while putting the emphasis of what happened about something else, then you are free to do so.

After reading all of that, it is scarey this that this crazy professor is running around with a box-cutter.

"Wrong. If the banner had read “I think Obama is unqualified to hold the office of POTUS, and the worst president America has had in 50 years” - nothing could have been done."

Ahhh we are not talking about "IF" we are talking about what happened.

Your argument only works if you are allowed to deny facts. Sorta like the liberals do to make their logic work.

I live in an area (deep blue) where “F*ck Bush” is literally graven into the city sidewalk, and has not been removed.

Cannot display profanity?

Obviously you are wrong according to the article which cites several court cases upholding the right to do exactly that.
