Observation: Black Teens Thoughts on Herman Cain (Vanity)
September 27, 2011 | no dems

I'm a certified Social Studies teacher in Texas. I teach in a Public School that is predominantly Black (70%) with 25% Hispanic and 5% White/Asian. Today, I went out on a limb and told them that there was a possibility that in 2012 there would be two Black men running for President: Barack Obama (Democrat) and Herman Cain (Republican). Most of the students were non-committal or non-interested. But, the ones who were interested and somewhat informed, SHOCKINGLY, are excited about Herman Cain.

Of the aforementioned, I would say, it was 50% Obama and 50% Cain. The Obama support was tepid at best. But, without fail, the students who like Cain were enthusiastic about him, saying: "Cain, Cain, Cain," and someone in almost every class said: "Obama has not helped people get jobs."

Kids reflect their parents politics. I still say, Herman Cain would not get the majority of the Black vote, but he would take more votes from Zero than anyone else. The dissatisfied Black voters could vote for Cain and not feel guilty because they voted against a brotha.

A new generation that knows the virtues of conservative values and politics would be needed. When what is supposed to be the wise generation is busy rapping and begging, there is a vacuum. Herman Cain would be a good start. Someone has to keep bearing the torch after he is gone from the picture.

That wasn’t quite what she said, I don’t think she was trying to get a dig in, she paid him several compliments. “ <<<

You’re absolutely correct. She covered very well for deftly pointing out that Cain is the “flavor of the week” and blaming the media. After all, he may be a good man but that’s HER constituency he’s getting and she knows it. Tonight’s remarks in some other areas could come back on her. I believe you were very astute on some of those other areas. She sees herself as a movement deserving of a coronation sans the negative press and any pesky intrusion and scrutiny into and of her charactoristically policy-free policy.

Cain’s family background is much more in tune with typical African American experiences. His father was a driver for Coca Cola, and they grew up with very limited resources. Compared that with 0bama’s experiences. He was not the descendant of slaves, as his father was a Kenyan. Both his parents were in grad school. BHO was raised by a white grandmother, and he went to Punahou, one of the most prestigious high school in Hawaii, if not in the US. He also spent his childhood in Indonesia. Later on he went to Columbia and Harvard. If Cain is the GOP’s presidential or VP candidate, the comparison will be stark.

It’s not a fair election if Cain splits the black vote.

“FWIW, Cain has been predicting he would get 1/3 of the black vote. If he’s correct, there’s no way Obama could overcome it.”

EXACTLY. It’s an incredible weapon on the Democrats, and there’s not a prayer that Hillary (or Obama for that matter, if he runs) could overcome it.

ADDITIONALLY. It makes it next to impossible for the Dems to effectively use race to either fire up the black vote, or to goad guilt-ridden white independents to again vote Democrat.

Cain is simply an AWESOME weapon...and will almost certainly win, providing that we could get him nominated.

...and did a mention that he’s a stellar conservative too.

” - - - “Obama has not helped people get jobs.”

Thanks for posting this article. If the Obama years have taught us anything it is that the US Federal Government can easily destroy work and thus jobs.

One of Obama’s target banks was Bank of America who will fire 30,000 people who now work for the largest Bank in America, and serves half of the households in America. 30,000 people working means 30,000 jobs, gone forever.

You are the teacher, so teach our Nation’s future leaders the connection part I left out between the above two paragraphs. May God Bless you in your work.

“Cain has been predicting he would get 1/3 of the black vote. If he’s correct, there’s no way Obama could overcome it.
That right there is reason enough for him to be the GOP nominee. That is if people really want to get rid of Obama and not just “send a message”. “

Now when you start comparing Cain to Perry, you see it’s not even close as to who can beat Hillary in 2012. Perry doesn’t have a chance in hell against her.

(p.s., I’ve already written Obama out for 2012...he’s smart enough to know that it doesn’t make sense for him to run and lose, rather than let Hillary run and win...they think)

It doesn’t surprise me. There was a poll that showed 45% of democrats would vote for Cain over Obama.

Can you direct me to this poll? Linky please?

Watched it. Sadly, Palin is becoming so predictable.

Its also obvious she has no intent on running because it would mean her cutting off the million dolar FNC 10 minutes a week, birdnest on the ground. AND I don’t blame her!!! Who would want to gleefully join in on this volunteer bloodletting.

I do think that conservatives bristling over the ‘give me a job’ line is a bit of an over reaction.

It’s a matter of simple semantics. Nobody would think a thing about someone saying, “he gave me a job.”

But, in casual conversation, someone said, “I earned a job,” it comes across as somewhat arrogant.

A job is *work*. It’s not charity. But by acknowledging that someone has the power to give you a job, your saying that they didn’t have to. The *opportunity* to work is a gift.

If someone says, “I’d like someone to give me a job,” they’re just speaking common English. That’s what people say.

That is really good. It sounds like you are in a very reasonable school where even the tempid Obama supporters aren’t radical. I am happy for you and I am happy for us as our future seems pretty good. Cain or Palin 2012 ......or both on the ticket. Don’t care the order.
