Rick Perry’s Texas hunting spot's racially charged name lingered. [Wabbit season! Troll season!]

Paint Creek, Tex. — In the early years of his political career, Rick Perry began hosting fellow lawmakers, friends and supporters at his family’s secluded West Texas hunting camp, a place known by the name painted in block letters across a large, flat rock standing upright at its gated entrance.

“Niggerhead,” it read.

The name of this particular parcel did not change for years after it became associated with Rick Perry, first as a private citizen, then as a state official and finally as Texas governor.

The problem is Cain needs to recognize when he is being used to perpetuate the “Republican is racist” myth. His initial reaction should always be...”Let's see what the facts are” when it come to this race baiting nonsense. I like Cain, but he needs to better perceive when he is being set up.

I have no idea what Cain knew or was told before getting this question. From my perspective it was a personal question to poke Cain. AND it just so happens that a 'rental' property rented by the Perry family was the goad used to dig into Cain. See Cain being in republican primaries goes against the whole ideology of liberalism. I have lived somewhere around 30 years in observation of liberalism in action from outside of KCMO proper. I can tell you it is like a criminal enterprise what liberalism has done to so many in the black community. PURE EVIL. Many years ago I had to quit watching the local news because day in day out there was some young black child dead over pure insanity. AND to charge Cain because of his answer, of race baiting does NOT even come close to the reality of what is race baiting.

Right now, I’m more concerned about Chris Chistie than Perry’s hunting club.

The Guy is dangerous. He is a solid lib with conservative fiscal leanings - sort of. But he is taking notes and studying. He may be obstinate, rude and a bully, but he’s hardly stupid.

He’s looking at the mistakes the others made and preparing himself. He will try to finesse himself out of the problems with gun control (Look, I have no problem with people Hunting or using weapons to protect themselves where there is no police presence) and with the illegals (doing that already), the Muslims, global warming and the entire baggage load of garbage in his background.

I’m shocked that so many people know about a sign painted on a large rock in the middle of nowhere. That sign has to be at least 10-15 miles off of a paved road.

It’s not exactly a luxurious hunting camp. Each little cabin looks like a small storage building. I seriously doubt they have any deer in the area this year at all due to the drought. I know for sure that the river next to the camp is completely dry.

A thoughtful man would have said something like “I’d like to look into this a little before I comment on something like this but I’ll get back to you on this later”. See, not hard to do at all. He’s done it serveral times in the past, only not when it pertained to Perry.

Agreed. My only question is that Cain had to know that mike was trying to USE HIM as a way to paint Perry as some sort of Racist.

Cain had NOTHING to do with Perry's rental property. But he did tick off the liberals last week by using that word ‘brainwashed’. So the liberal media decided to ‘test’ Cain to see how he would handle what most assuredly is perceived to be the ‘racist’ party by using what somebody deep in Texas decided to ‘share’ with the Wcompost.

Cain is not doing the race-baiting...he is being used by the race-baitters and sympathizers.

my tinfoil:

The media wants to paint the GOP as racist and Perry is their ticket and they have tried it with Palin and continue to do it.

There’s this story, the KKK story and the Ted Nugent story.
http://www.politico.com/blogs/click/0811/Nugent_giddy_about_Perry_run.html

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2043435/Rick-Perrys-alleged-ties-demon-seeing-KKK-linked-religious-leader-derail-campaign.html

There was a story yesterday on Palin being racist, but it really boggled the mind (I *think* that story had a picture of Palin with Nugent, too...they’ve painted Nugent racist, sooo).

Joe McGinniss claims Palin slept with a black man but then claims she is racist. There are several old stories where they’ve tried to paint Palin as racist.

www.laprogressive.com/progressive-issues/is-sarah-palin-a-racist-well-she-ended-our-conversation-when-she-learned-i-was-black/

I also think perhaps media expected by letting out *particular* tidbits from McGinniss, then questioning *particular* sports figures about it, expecting conservatives to go after the black angle.

I think the media is working overtime using GOP candidates to try and paint the whole of GOP as racist. It’s nasty and slimy.

"My reaction is, that's just very insensitive," Cain told Fox. "[There] isn't a more vile, negative word than the N-word, and for him to leave it there as long as he did, before I hear that they finally painted over it, is just plain insensitive to a lot of black people in this country."

Really? Cain had plenty to say about Perry without even knowing the facts. Race baiting at it's finest. Talk about a smear against a good man and his family!

That term, xxxhead, was the name of a wild flower common to Texas. That name goes back over a century. I think the same flower was also called a xxxtoe.

Help me out here. We are to proclaim Christ but not in a way that would endanger anyone? Is that what I’m to take from this? We should stand up for Christ but not overtly lest we be put in danger or endanger someone else? Did I miss where Christ instructed us to covertly spread His word or stand up for Him? I distinctly remember the stand up and proclaim Him publicly or He would deny us meme.

Ok, that was embarrassing. Would you believe I had a window open to mention to you that it’s rather funny watching Perry have to endure what Palin has had to go through for years now and I accidentally pasted in a post I had ready for another thread? ROFL I can imagine you would be rather stunned getting that post. Is sorry good enough?

I used to run a large band saw in a sawmill, the rig was known as simply a rig or a head rig if it was the main rig, the device we used to turn the logs while sawing them was called a "nigger". No one knew exactly why, but in the middle 90s someone decided we needed to go PC and they instructed us to call it a log turner.

I am assuming it got it's original name back in the day when they used men to turn the logs after the sawyer made the initial cuts. The men were probably blacks, hence the name. We never thought about it one way or another until the company made a big deal out of it, to us it was simply a name for a tool.

When I was a kid everyone I knew called Brazil Nuts “niggertoes”, but no longer. BTW, nice show of fear the way you xxed the word nigger out. I don’t use the word and haven’t since I was about 10 years old but when talking about a subject like this there is no harm in using it since we are not meaning it in a derogatory manner. Fear is to be avoided, kowtowing to the PC crowd is also to be avoided.

Yes, a troll slipped out there forty are fifty years ago and painted the rock. Someone is telling one, paint on a rock lying flat will not last ten years, unless someone comes by and repaints it occasionally.

Lie. I can show you paint on rocks that was put there in the 1850s when Wagon trains crossed the Sierras. The paint is still there and readable, and it has been a he** of a lot longer than 10 years. Graffiti is nothing new, people liked painting there names on rocks back in the day also.
