With Sarah out, which conservative candidate has the best shot of knocking out Romney and Obama?
vanity poll | Oct 5, 2011 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 10/05/2011 5:06:47 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

My personal favorites are:

1) Bachmann

2) Cain

3) perry

Cannot get excited about Gingrich or Santorum.

Perry’s instincts are COMPASSIONATE. Whatever his views and positions are they would be disastrously modified by his “compassion” in office.

Like GWB. When you (justifiably?) lack confidence in your brains, you follow your heart. Which is sweet n’all, but not a good way to run a government.

The reason I think Cain has the best chance to knock out Romney and Obama is based on his recent MASTERFUL TV appearances on Leno, and The View. He’s got what it takes to handle a hostile media, and come through as both impressive, commanding, and lovable.

I fear Perry would be a stumbling embarrassment in debates like pretty much every GOP nominee (to various degrees) since there have been debates.

Watch how Cain handles the harpies on the View.

He is as smooth and calm as Clinton at his best, but with character and conservative principles.

No sale. Anyone candidate who calls me heartless can piss off.

I think you’re right that he will be savaged...but my guess is that anyone else will be too, except maybe Romney because he’s one of them.

Of everyone who could possibly win the nomination, I believe Cain will hold up the best to the inevitable savaging by the crazed left.

Fact of the matter is this is going to be a vicious election for the simple reason that the marxists are so damn close to winning the game that they won’t go down without one hell of a fight.

One thing that really impressed me about Cain is that he never really loses his composure - I think he’ll weather the storm.

Jim, Romney is my last choice, but if he ends up getting the nomination, I'll vote for him. Actually, whoever gets the GOP nomination will get my vote in the general election.

The fact is, as bad as Romney is, he doesn't hate his country and he isn't a Marxist! I remember what Palin said a couple of months back: “Anybody but Obama” I'll follow the example Governor Palin spoke very passionately on, and will vote for whomever the GOP nominee ends up being. I'll guarantee you that Palin will be voting for GOP candidate...whomever it is. Again, as bad as some of these candidates are, they don't hate their country, and they're not Marxists.

But hey, it's a free country, and if you choose not to vote that's your right. I on the other hand will not shoulder the burden of knowing that I helped an avowed Marxist get four more years to destroy the country.

No, I think I'm getting it just fine.

Well, sorry, pal, but for the reasons stated above and elsewhere on FR I cannot and will not support a progressive/abortionist like liar Romney for president. If you and the GOP wish to do that, good luck and good riddance.

Pray a true second party arises from the ashes.

“The post Palin polls are going to be shockers with Cain in big BIG leads—IMHO.”

I think he’ll pull supporters away from Romney, too, once he’s identified as the front runner. I suspect that a sizable chunk of the romney supporters are favoring him simply because they have a psychological need to be on the winning team, and perceive him as the ultimate winner.

Once Mitt’s boat starts taking on water, it should sink pretty fast.

I don’t think Bachmann and Cain can get elected. Bachmann is in over her head. Perry has the best chance and is a staunch conservative. He is my choice.

I Like Cain the Best Next, and it would be nice to have and Authenic african-AMERICAN President too! (Ubama doesn't count) As for Perry, I just can't get over his "heartless" Comment, if he did well in Texas that is fine, but I don't think he is fit for National Office

Same here!

Yep, you are right. I agree with you. Obama is afraid of Perry. That is why Obama mentioned him by name, the smear article by WP and MSM etc. Perry is our best chance.

The rest of the field would jump on him and say, “see he’s already picking his cabinet and the primaries aren’t over yet”.
I do think he could hint at how he would love to see the winner choose her for that job if she wants it. And then go on to name her strong points and why he would like to see that happen.
I still say ABO=Anyone but Obama. I would hold my nose and vote for Romney just as I did for McCain. Palin made that an easier vote for me.

1) (reserved)
2) Cain
3) Perry

Bachmann is technically strong on the issues, but not as charismatic and prodigious as I hoped. The prolonged sniping doesn’t help either. But there’s plenty of primary time ahead of us for impressions to change.

I’m not going to play your silly RINO games. Been there, done that, wouldn’t be prudent.

If the GOP goes Romney, the GOP is dead to me. Period.

Perry gives off a televangelist vibe.

Yes. I’ll vote for him in the general if he’s the nominee. But all I can think of his best quotes are “pretzels” and Gas jets.”

I’m sick of feeling while watching Presidential debates like I do when visiting a 3rd rate modern art museum: “I (or any ordinary Freeper) could do better than that.”

This election is about the greatest threat to our nation in our lifetime. It’s not turban-wrapped jihadists. It’s only secondarily work-seeking desert hikers. It’s about our economy, and the destruction of the future of our nation by unsustainable borrowing and spending. It’s not really about “jobs,” however much the politicians like to phrase it that way.

Our nation will be mortgaged and sold at auction within our lifetimes if we allow the Obama (and secondarily Bush, who rolled out the red-ink carpet for his successor) borrowing to continue.

CAIN is our best hope to return long-term fiscal sanity to our nation. His dark skin will bring in more than a few former Democrats who were so weak they needed a “progressive indulgence” to do what they know is right.

The best thing about Cain is how he will make the “progressive” elitists fear the loss of “their” black votes because they fear some blacks, the ones they assume are idiots, will continue to vote for superficial emotions, and vote for Cain out of a different kind of “hope” they used to be able to control.
