Sarah Palin 2012 decision: Not running (Has America died, along with Steve Jobs?)
Politico ^

Posted on 10/06/2011 1:14:33 AM PDT by quesney

Sarah Palin pledged to stay an active part of the political discussion as she announced she wouldn’t be making a 2012 White House run.

On Greta Van Susteren’s Fox News show Wednesday night, Palin told supporters that she’s sorry if they are disappointed that she passed on the race.

“I apologize to those who are disappointed in this decision,” she said. “I’ve been hearing from them in the last couple of hours but I believe that they, when they take a step back, will understand why the decision was made and understand that, really, you don’t need a title to make a difference in this country. I think that I’m proof of that.”

Palin told Van Susteren that her husband, Todd Palin, heard from some of the GOP presidential candidates since making her announcement at 6 p.m. She did not identify which ones.

Palin added that she considered the thought that, by not running in 2012, she may forfeit any future chance to do so.

Governor Palin
Governor Romney
Governor Perry
Congressman Gingrich
Senator Santorum
Congressman Paul
Congresswoman Bachmann
Ambassador Huntsman

The only major contender right now without one of those “titles” is Herman Cain, right?

“No, but your sense of proportion certainly has.”

Get back to me in 2016, after four years of Romney or four more years of Obamamination. We had one last opportunity to dodge a bullet of full-blown socialism.

We didn’t dodge it.

Should we wait until after the election or just swallow the cyanide pills right now?

Nice.

Act like an American. Wallow in self-pity for about 30 seconds then Man (or Woman) up and fight for our nation.

This is the problem with the Cult of Personality that sprung up around Palin.

And more importantly yet; one way or another, God is STILL in control.

Titles tend to become meaningless when they are handed out like halloween candy to anyone who wants them:

Governor Blagojevich

Governor/President Clinton

Governor Ryan

Governor whatsisname from Alabama who wouldn't leave

Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney

Senator John Effin' Kerry

Senator / Vice President Joe Biden

Senator / Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

Congressman "Cold Cash" Jefferson

Ambassador Joe "Sweet Tea" Wilson

Senator/President Obama

Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders

Green Czar Van Jones

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan

King Kong

It never ends. Titles are getting tiresome, like warning labels on pillows.
Now, the title of "Entrepreneur," or "Businessman" is just as good if not better than any elected title.

“This is the problem with the Cult of Personality that sprung up around Palin.”

Nailed it.

I will NEVER get that “emotionally invested” in some human being.

There are NO ‘political saviors’ and never have been.

There are only the flawed and the slightly less flawed humans who are crazy enough to seek office.

We have to rally behind our best chance to be RID of the Obamanation.

[but please God...not Mittens!]

Who, in their right mind, wants to be president when the debts finally decide our course?

A true American leader? Just a thought.

I have become a bit suspicious of posters on FR in the last two election cycles. Candidates are too old, don’t enter the race soon enough, etc. This year: no political experience. There are posters on FR who are no better than the LSM parroting democrat talking points; just doing it for the Republican side.

During the last presidential election, those “talking” points gave us McCain, and therefore, Obama. We can’t let them do it again.

Reagan wasn’t liked by the GOP establishment and it took him 25 years to get a nomination.

The country will be sh*t in 25 years, the very hard decisions needed to be now, and Palin was the only one with the trust factor needed to do this.

the media won

To your point...

Dependent States of America

Without Polish-style shock therapy, the US economy and electorate will be hopelessly degraded. 2012 is the last chance to change course.

Romney won’t do it. Count on it. He’s about ego, not conviction or principle.

Ted Kennedy “quit” being a Senator. He was brain dead right up to the end, but he kept the seat, and the salary, and the medical insurance. Hillary Clinton “quit” being a Senator while she was busy campaigning, but kept the seat. Same thing with Obummer and Gifford. They “quit” doing their jobs, but kept the position, and the salary, and the medical insurance. When Sarah Palin could not longer do her job, she “resigned”. That’s the difference.

The reason she didn’t finish out her term are obvious. She was under siege by the left and a media that hated her, and she could do more good for both her state and the country by turning over the reins to Parnell. Having become a national lightning rod and with liberals focusing all their energy on trying to destroy her, her practical effectiveness as governor was diminished. The governor was being harassed 24/7. It was a major time consumer, and a major, major expense on a family with middle class assets. She made the right call.

We keep getting the likes of DoleMcCainShrubClintonObamaGore to pick from. This has become travesty. It is a tragedy. America is not working.

You forgot Kerry

And it makes me gag when I see all the carrying on about 911 from the general population that voted for Obama who stayed in a church whose leader said 911 was "Chickens coming home to roost " and "God Damn America "

Unfortunately I agree with your verdict

You are right.

Our choice for president will be between a Marxist muslim sympathizer and a socialist establishment RINO.

Since Palin Punk’d her supporters, they will not really care what “Stringalong Sarah” has to say.

She has made herself into the female Newt Gingrich, meaning UNELECTABLE.
