Experts in the Azores have alerted the population of São Miguel Island for seismic activity which they considered to be above normal. The seismic events where located in the system of Fogo and Congro lakes, the central region of the island.

“The situation is ongoing and the number of microseisms is slightly above reference values” said Wednesday João Luís Gaspar from the Center of Volcanology and Geological Risk Assessment (CVARG) of the University of the Azores.

Well the Azores were always high on my list for a flank collapse candidate. Something to watch along with the Canaries.

dayum, watch the surf forecast for the US east coast
If waves are expected to crest above 1000 ft, seek shelter immediately, or go max out your credit cards for the last 5 hours you have

Drugs, sex and booze is about all you could spend it on in 5hrs that you’d really be able to do anything with.

6.3 in New Guinea yesterday. It would be interesting to compare the numbers of world-wide quakes year by year for the last 10 years. Is is just me, or do there seem to be a lot more recently?

LOL do you know in one of his speeches he actually literally said when the raring seas and tides roll upon our shore I’ll be there...

I cannot believe the dems denounced Obama’s jobs bill then flipped and said the bad bad republicans won’t pass it they want people raped and starving blah blah...

We have a sitting POTUS that is endorsing protesters that are calling for tyranny.THIS ALONE IS ENOUGH for impeachment proceedings of Obama.

This is the 'looming' disaster that I'm watching:

Earthquakes Rumble Beneath Iceland’s Katla Volcano

By Bob Petz
October 18, 2011

Scientists are keeping close watch on Iceland’s Katla volcano, where a series of recent seismic tremors reaching magnitude 3.9 have raised the possibility that an eruption may be imminent."

Both Iceland and the Azores are on the Mid-Atlantic fault..also, the maximum strength of an earthquake is related to the distance that the waves can travel...The MidAtlantic fault lets it run for thousands of miles...I think the theoretical maximum strength is a 10.5....

One of the prettiest spots on earth is the green & blue lakes on San Miguel Islands in the Azores. The lakes and surrounding villages are in a large crater of a long dormant volcano (which seems to take up the whole island). I first saw all this in 1974, and have never forgotten it.
