Nuclear skirmish, Obama suspends election until crisis is over, crisis escalates.

He has no authority to suspend elections. Even if the states go along, his term ends at noon on Jan 20th. Period. If there is no new president-elect, the office devolves onto the Speaker of the House.

The way things have been going, and looking at his record of ignoring the law when it doesn’t suit him, I would not be surprised if he’s had discussions about how to cancel the election.

More likely that al-Maliki will be forced out by Sadar and the Shites will begin a genocidal campaign against the Sunnis in al-Anbar. If the Iraqi Sunnis are smart they will support the uprising (by Sunnis against Shites) in Syria and look to make Syria a Sunni state that includes al-Anbar and especially the al-Akas oil field (in al-Anbar) that was discovered in 2006. The realignment along religious grounds will leave the Arab Shites in Iraq to deal with Persian Shites in Iran and the Arab Sunnis in Syria (including al-Anbar). This realignment will negate the national borders established by the British after WWI that were intended to exploit the differences to preserve colonial power.

Write off the Kurds... they are caught between Iranian Shites, Iraqi Shites, Syrian Sunnis (their only hope) and the Turks. They are screwed (again).

From your link. Over 73,000 American servicemen remain accounted for and MIA from WW2!

When you examine war it is always about greed, avarice and seeking more power or land by a few politicians somewhere, yes and dictators and kings are politicians too. That’s how many get their start.

Had we not frittered away all the lives and dollars on various wars, our society would be much better off. Things like cancer and Alzheimer’s could be cured, infrastructure would be rebuilt and we might have advanced technology to explore space. Instead we wage war.

The next time we decide to go to war we need to demand that the President and Congress and all of their advisers either serve or have their offspring serving in front line positions first. Then there won’t be a next time.

We also must competently defend the USA, unlike how we failed on 9-11, and unlike how we continue to fail from the many decade long southern border invasion.

The real problem exists because entangling alliances exist that are not in our (meaning we the people’s) interest. George Washington recognized it and warned us.

Lets see, thousands of Americans dead, tens of thousands wounded, America spent a trillion dollars of it's treasure on these lazy bathrobe wearing fanatical religious freaks, a few years later, America is in debt multiple trillions, tens of millions lost their homes, businesses, investments, retirements, careers, our own borders have become a war zone and national security nightmare...

Hell, we didn't even get cheap gas out of Iraq.

We won nothing but death and debt...

since when was Gadaffi a puppet of the west? don’t you remember the Reagan years? Lockerbie? I don’t recall Assad being too US-friendly either.

He has drained the treasury and is in serious need of new money to appropriate............until he gets his "Jobs bill" or a new stimulus or QE3 equivalent or whatever.............he will be cutting spending in the military and elsewhere, like a madman, uh, except for his pet socialist projects.......

The Senate will no longer be of any concern to us. I have just received word from D.C. that Emperor Obama has dissolved the council permanently. The last remnants of the Old Republic have been swept away forever.

Whatever the results of total withdrawal from Iraq, good, bad, or “inconclusive”, they won’t be apparent for quite a while. But of course they’ll be played up as positive for no other reason than Obama needs a steady trickle of foreign policy stuff to play up and stack into an archive
that’ll be pointed to repeatedly as proof of how miraculous his effect on the world has been. It’s all designed to soften us up for his entirely unacceptable domestic policies, which would not be remotely sellable any other way. They’re counting on a lot.
