Romney Supporters Banned From Free Republic
Fox News Nation ^ | By Emily Schultheis, Politico

Posted on 11/01/2011 1:05:31 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Free Republic founder Jim Robinson has a message for supporters of Mitt Romney: go away.

In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:

Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency.

Look, I’m pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-constitution, pro-limited government. I’ve stated that fact many times including on our home page, at the top of our main latest posts page, and in thousands of posts on FR. Supporting pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-constitution, pro-limited government causes and candidates is our primary mission, purpose and goal on FR. Why do you think I should promote or allow to be promoted a candidate whose record is just the opposite?

Romney is the opposition!! He’s in the enemy camp!!

The opposition is Obama.

I know you and others recognize this. What I absolutely cannot wrap my brain around is the notion that Obama and Romney are the same. Romney is inarguably the *least* conservative candidate on the Republican side. I do not support him. I will not campaign for him. I will vote for him in the general election if, God forbid, he is the nominee.

The only thing Romney said in the 2008 campaign season that I believed was that he hated the Yankees. That’s it, and that had nothing to do with anything of real importance. Romney’s a used car salesman. That said, I believe at the very least he would be more pro-business than Obama and likely more pro-America when it comes to defense. I can’t know that for a fact and I don’t take him at his word. But like I said earlier, a third party candidate hasn’t won an electoral vote since 1832. It’s one or the other. If it’s 0% (Obama) or whatever percentage Romney might be (and I do *not* believe it’s 0%) then I feel obligated to support the candidate who better represents me.

You and I (and many others here) clearly have differences of opinion on what a vote means. I’ve spent years arguing with Navy officers on differences of opinion and I imagine you have as well. At the end of the day, though, we are on the same side.

Yes... I also what this site has been.

Do you know what "FReeping" is?
Yes... have done it. But, not in a long while.

As for debate, where in the he!! have YOU been?! Nevermind. I just checked your posting history.
You're right... not around here that much anymore.. posting, anyway. It's become predictable, and boring.

"Because there will be NO campaigning for Romney?"

Are you that weak in your convictions that a misguided Romney supporter's article might 'flip' your vote?

If there exist so many RINO-phobes here, then JR should institute user and topic level filtering for the weak to employ.

"How about bucking up and getting to work with the aim of defeating him in the primaries..."

If you can convince JR to unlock the door, then you can open it and hide behind it. I'll take care of Mitt should he dare enter.

And if “non-believers” are not permitted, then all this site will become is one that preaches to the choir—an INBRED, GENETICALLY DECLINING GROUP.

Hasn't happened in 15 years noob. You don't actually know what an activist site is, do ya.

Jim Rob has guided FR through some perilous crap. He certainly doesn't need a new sign up telling him how it's done.

You should have a rational fear of what his presidency would be.

To: Jim Robinson; All

Jim, if I can put it another way...

Most of us are donors to this site- a private business owned by Jim.

Posting for a candidate amounts to advertising for that candidate.

Use of this site for any advertising or promotional purposes is an expense to the site. Be it bandwidth, hardware, or the salary to pay someone to maintain the site.

Ergo- do you want your donations to be spent on advertising for Romney?

I dont know but I’m not sitting on my ass at home while Obama gets another four years. One is a 7/10 on the devilish scale while the true deal is a 10/10.

The opposition is Obama and people like him. Romney is a liberal progressive. Look at his record. His position on many of our beliefs is identical to Obama’s.

Pro-abortion. Pro-gay rights. Pro-gun control. Pro-mandates. Pro-global warming. Pro-big government. Pro-socialist healthcare.

“I’m not going to return to Reagan-Bush! I was an independent during Reagan-Bush!” Spit! —Mitt Romney (the non-Tea Party, elite’s choice candidate)

Romney is Obama-lite.

No thank you. No Romney!!

Get your sorry, ego inflated self a clue.

Me weak?

Heck no.

If the stupid GOP manages to nominate Romney, I’m going to write in Sarah Palin.

I will vote for every Tea Party patriot down the line on the rest of my ballot, thankyouverymuch.

Like Jim Robinson, and the vast majority of other awesome FReepers here, I don’t suffer fools, so I’m finished replying to you.
