Romney Supporters Banned From Free Republic
Fox News Nation ^ | By Emily Schultheis, Politico

Posted on 11/01/2011 1:05:31 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Free Republic founder Jim Robinson has a message for supporters of Mitt Romney: go away.

In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:

Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency.

Have you not been paying attention? A conservative voting for Romney would be the epitome of hypocrisy.

I simply don’t understand why this point is lost on so many people here, whining about the rejection of RINOs does not get a conservative in the WH.

What about the athists and non-Christians that post here?

I've been here a long time, and there has never been a problem with atheists and non-Christians who behave respectfully and decently.

Those who can't behave are fed to the kitties.

I wish FreeDominion would do the same - our equivalent - CINOS, infest that place, which is why I stopped going there. Indeed, it has degraded into a Red Tory stronghold peppered with tinfoil hat wearing conspiracysts who routinely attack and undermine our Prime Minister.

"I still find it funny how many are shocked that a private website freely chooses to include the content it wants and exclude content it doesn’t want. I haven’t seen gardening threads on motortrend forums or welding threads at egullet."

It's JR's site and he can impose whatever rules he sees fit. However, some those rules do change the nature of the site - in my opinion - from a broad-based conservative website to a more narrowly based evangelical website

I have been visiting this site for years, and am firmly convinced that there is not one conservatism, but many, and that there are very few - if any - beliefs that are shared by all who might call themselves conservative or libertarian or Republican.

Sometimes it has seemed to me that a broad interpretation of the 2nd Amendment (upfolding the right to individual gun ownership) might be the only belief that virtually all conservatives share. But even there, you will find differences about banning certain types of weapons for private use, or involving restrictions about how guns are bought and sold.

So whereas I uphold JR's right to run his site as he sees fit, I think it is a mistake to make too long a laundry list of what constitutes a "real" conservative or a "real" Republican.

Have YOU not been paying attention. A conservative sitting out the general election or voting 3rd party that ensures the most liberal President in history gets another four years violates EVERYTHING conservatives should stand for.

I’d rather vote for a 60% conservative than allow a 100% liberal to win. The decision isn’t even close.

“We can count on the Republican Congress to thwart Obama’s designs, just because they know that Obama is political poison.”

I said something very similar to a leftish acquaintance of mine this morning. I think the Republicans have a good shot at taking back control of the Senate in 2012. Then, if Obama is re-elected we will have divided government and a weak, lame-duck president. You outlined one scenario that could be worse than that.

So the rules don’t apply to Perry supporters, only the slandering Cain Cultists.

Oh yeah why won’t the Cult leader release the women from the non-disclosure agreement? The truth about this sleezy man is going to come out. Get ready for it.

Then God must want me to tell you that if you don’t stop worshipping your made up feelings god that is made in your own image you’re bound for Hell. “Gee, I thought that my own authority was good enough” won’t cut it on that day.

Glad to hear from you, I was afraid no one would play anymore.

I’m sure God wants you to do that, but He told me not to pay any attention to you, and go ahead with what I do.

Isn’t it neat how God deals with each of us individually?

Cheers

The Cain bashing continues, since LaRaza Rick can’t string two coherent words together his Perry-bot operatives will have to do it for him.

I wonder how many Perry non-citizen volunteers got instate tuition?

I am well aware that this is a private site and I’ve been here for years and it’s great.

I don’t happen to agree with the banning of Romney supporters. Let them come on and make their case if they have one.

They would be devoured by the posters here and not enough left for the dogs.

But I don’t see why they can’t be allowed to speak. How many of them can there be on a conservative site and what can they say about Romney to make us like him?

But, I guess Mr. Jim will make his own decision about that, he usually does.

I was only telling you to man up. Governor Perry appears to be a real man. Emulate him.

Oh yeah why won’t the Cult leader release the women from the non-disclosure agreement? The truth about this sleezy man is going to come out. Get ready for it.

So, let me get this straight: A guy who says two people made false accusations against him has a responsibility to ensure those false accusations are repeated? If he doesn't do that he's sleezy and dishonest? Have you lost your bloody mind?

Imagine if I accused you right now of being a rapist, and JimRob told me to shut up and deleted my posts. Then, later, someone says "I saw posts on FR accusing him of rape. Unless he gives JimRob permission to repost those accusations, he's a sleezy and dishonest rapist." Does that logic work for you?

I don't know which part is funnier, the idea that Cain is sleezy even though he has former employees lining up to speak for his character, or the fact that you can't see an obvious smear job after what the media tried with your guy earlier this year. Hey, maybe Herman has a hunting lodge with a picture of Anita Hill in a skimpy negligee painted on a rock nearby...

I think Cain with Newt as a chief of staff and either Paul Ryan or a really good foreign policy guy as VP would be nearly ideal. If we had Ryan at VP we’d need an awesome SecState, but that’s doable. John Bolton, call your office.

Read all of JimRob’s posts in this thread. No one is being banned simply for supporting Romeny. This isn’t a purge, it’s taking out the trash. Back in 2008 when we had the Saturday Night Massacre over Rudy, everyone who got banned was either a total bunghole or decided to go after JimRob personally. None of them are missed.
