A Republican source who was at the dinner in which pollster Chris Wilson says Herman Cain sexually harassed a young staffer is contradicting the account, telling CBS News he never saw Cain sexually harass anyone that night, although he does remember Cain drinking.
"I did not see a lech," the source said.
Wilson, who was doing polling for the Restaurant Association during Cain's tenure, told an Oklahoma radio station yesterday: "This all occurred at a restaurant in Crystal City [Virginia] and everybody was very aware of it. And so it is, it was only a matter of time because so many people were aware of what took place, so many people were aware of her situation, the fact that she left after this, that it was, it was a-everybody knew with the campaign that this would eventually come up.
But the source said he "didn't remember (Cain) doing anything" at the dinner, which he said was at a Ruth Chris' steakhouse in Crystal City, Virginia. The source said Cain "may have been a little drunk," but he didn't see anything inappropriate--and added that he never heard anyone discuss anything inappropriate that may have occurred. He said about a half dozen people were there.

No, what he said was the reason he denied the settlement was because in his mind he was thinking “agreement”. In plain English it’s a settlement. He regularly seems to use the “I was thinking of...” dodge to cover for when he’s said something stupid or disingenuous.
Which may have been behind all that "you hired an illegal" hoopla. Talk about staged. Neither will get Emmys for that performance. It seemed forced at the time and sent Perry down in the polls but now it seem as if it was indeed a little play acting to make us think they were enemies. Politics and bedfellows.
Thanks. I heard that was a great interview. I’m looking for a link.
Yep. Just like the GOP Establishment and members of congress pretending they are in opposition to the Democrats.
The lastest is that the supposed third girl grown adult of age woman is one of the original two. Just more msm spin.
LOL! If you would post and read the WHOLE sentence, you would see your error. ‘he’ does not refer to Wilson.
No weaker than "allegations" or "unnamed sources" that for the most part form the basis of the accusations against Cain.
Whether this is coming from Perry's camp or Romney's camp or demoRAT operatives & hit men, this is a full fledged attack by the leftwing socialists to take down a conservative black candidate before 0dumb0 would ever have to confront Cain one-on-one as a candidate for POTUS. This is a high tech lynching of a conservative non-demoRAT black man.....and the left-wing media & demoRATs are chortling in delight with their blatant racist attacks on Cain using vague "sexual harassment charges" as their pretext.
Not necessarily. Just because this guy didn't see anything improper doesn't mean it didn't occur. I am not suggesting anything improper occurred but am just stating the fallibility of your premise
Perry was on Hannity's show last night, did a good job too.
I'm leaning Cain right now but will still say he made some favorable points from me.
Too bad the Perrybots here will totally erase any enthusiasm I might have had for the guy.
Up to this point in time, there is no “there” there. I’d vote for Cain.
No, he’s the only leading GOP candidate for whom they’ve uncovered concretely reportable dirt in that his employer paid two settlements of sexual harassment charges against him.
Stop with the race-card crap. They’d use that against any GOP candidate they had it on.
Of course, Rove is very insistent that the only way to handle it is for the Association to release all documents relating to the investigation and the agreement, redacted of course. Rove is trying his dead level best to bury Herman Cain, that's apparent. Rove is not a stupid man, and his "only way to handle it" would be the most devastating thing I can imagine.
I've been an observer on more than one workplace complaints of sexual harassment. The one making a formal complaint can alledge whatever she pleases. I saw one where the complainant alleged that the subject of her allegation had sexually groped her in his office. Her written complaint was as intricately detailed as if you were reading XXX-rated porn fiction. Unfortunately for her, the subject of the complaint wasn't working on the day she said it happened, worked with others in a shared office where the door was never closed, had floor-length glass windows facing the reception desk, and multiple receptionists were always present without exception. Case closed. I do believe, though I'm not certain, she was given a month's severance pay and asked to leave.
Now, if, as Rove suggested, all the investigation documents were released, it would include the complainant's written statement detailing whatever it is she wished to claim, regardless of whether the claims turned out to be false or not. So, Rove wants that in the media so that the media can print, re-print, talk to death, analyze every single salacious detail of the complainant's statement of allegations, even if all of them were proven false.
And, of course, he wants the documents redacted to protect HER anonymity. We all know who the subject of the complaint is, but we should never know who the complainant was, right Rove? He makes me sick to my stomach.
If you find a link to Hannity's show today, definitely listen to Cain's interview, but skip Rove's unless you have a strong stomach.
So many contradictions. There seems to be one thing that everybody at the Restaurant Association agrees on:
They all partied A LOT! I want to work for Cain, so I can hang out at restaurants eating good food and drinking fine liquor. What a job!
If Cain had handled this better before the story came out, and on Monday, there’d be no reason for anybody to even ask Wilson about this, and we wouldn’t still be talking about it, much less having people from the incidents coming forward with conflicting accounts.
This is what it was important to avoid, because eyewitness accounts of events from 16 years ago are often faulty. This is what killed George Allen, as person after person after person came forward and said they remembered Allen using the n-word. And Allen would find someone else from each event who would say they didn’t hear it, and then the story would get another two day’s coverage as people would speculate whether the 2nd person was in a position to hear what the first person heard.
You can’t win this type of argument, so you should try to avoid it. Which Cain could have easily done if he had ignored the actually harrassment charges which even Politico described as small potatoes, and just focused on his own lack of intent.
Instead, it’s all anybody is talking about anymore, and now Cain’s also got the false charges he’s throwing at the Perry camp to deal with. Cain goes off half-cocked a lot, and it keeps biting him. Not with his supporters, who I don’t think would care if Cain actually confessed to bedding ever woman in his employ. But with the general public, who was warming to him.
I go with the “much ado about nothing”, unless there is some actual evidence or a more plausible story.
Although me saying that might be considered bad news, since up until now I’ve outright dismissed the charges completely. Forcing them to be aired gives them the tinyest bit more “credibility” simply for being stated.
Which is absurd. They were investigated, it was settled, move on already. And Cain, stop falsely accusing Perry, because you can’t claim the high moral ground when you wallow in the mud.
Many of us canot remember what we said at the last large gathering we attended. Mine was last Sunday. 35 riders 10 & 20 miles ride. I can tell you about the trail, but not what I said all day long.
I could not even tell you where I was 12 years ago on a certain date unless I looked at my bookkeeping billing book & got some clues.
Sometimes 12 minutes ago is a stretch-—I go into the kitchen to get something & cannot remember what I wanted.
Cain is getting crucified over not remembering something from 12 years ago in detail????
This is a sad state of affairs in today’s America.
That’s my point. Congressional hearings are always full of the “cannot recall” for events that took place a couple of months ago. For someone to come out and say “I remember that was at that particular dinner, but I can’t recall any sexual harassing going on” isn’t really saying much. Especially 12 years later. Yet, if someone were at such a dinner and saw something memorable, that they could recall it 12 years later wouldn’t be remarkable.
Saying, in effect, “I can’t recall having heard any barking dog 12 years ago” is useless.
Of course the lefties & media would use this as slurs & allegations against any conservative. My point is that they take special delight to shoot down a black conservative because they desperately do NOT want 0dumb0 as a pretend black to go against a real legitimate, pulled up by his own bootstraps black man. And yes, this is a high tech lynching by the lefties & media against a conservative black who appears to be a threat against 0dumbo.
“Lynching” suggests a racial motivation and I just don’t buy it. I also don’t think the Dems think Herman has much chance of being the nominee with or without their intervention in the primary.
