Gingrich Tells Newsmax: No Amnesty, No Citizenship
Newsmax ^ | 11-24-2011 | Staff

snips:

...."But "there is no path to citizenship in my Tuesday night comment on immigration," Gingrich told Newsmax. "There is a path to non-deportation for certified, very long-term community members but they would not have the right to vote."

The goal of his plan, Gingrich said, is to gain control of the border in 12 months while ensuring that English is the official language of the U.S. government. He wants even faster rules for the deportation of criminals and a guest worker program "outsourced to American Express, Visa or MasterCard to minimize fraud..."

So, based on that, how do you know Bachmann is serious when she says “deport them all?”

We don't. But I also look at what faction has the history of deception and which one does not.

Hint - it's not Bachmann's.

It’d be worth hearing Newt out on this, but I think the simple solution is to require U.S. citizenship for all employment, and the wetbacks will self-deport.

In southwest Florida (where Newt is planning to speak today about immigration), there are very few Cubans and TONS of non-Cuban people who have ties to Central America, South America, the Carribean and Mexico.

Sadly I agree. How about we try just enforcing our laws? I was leaning heavily towards Newt, but his out smarted him self on this issue. I am back to having no candidate in the race. I expect Newt to take a big hit in the polls over this. Totally unnecessary, control the boarder and enforce our laws first then if that does not work we can try something else.

Please link me to where I or Newt Gingrich did not call for enforcement of laws or closing border. I was quite clear that is a key to some self deportation.

I was responding to freeper calls of 100% deportation which is simply never going to happen.

The general public..of which 40% is leftist or near leftist and a media which is 90% lefty willl never sit still while we do that.

We do not have the political power to deport 20 million latinos...if we can get 1/3rd or half then we would be lucky. Even Ike’s vaunted Wetback plan much touted here stumbled when folks started dying in forced deportations...and that was only 100,000 actually arrested and deported...not 20 million.,..and they had not been here 25-40 years in some case

This is a since 1970s years in the making issue, it won’t be solved overnight. And having lived in Miami back when they did actually deport folks frequently, one had a hearing and would sit at Krome Detention or Oakdale Detention in Louisiana or even some at Fort Chaffee AR waiting for process...any idea where we can store 20 million detainees once we recognize who they are?

Sure some will self deport...hopefully a bunch once they realize we have a POTUS who will enforce the INS laws unlike Obama and to some degree BushII...I think any of these candidates will do better than that

A strawman is an argument totally unrelated to the subject.

Mass deportations are the central issue here and my position on the feasibility of that is well known.

Bachmann is the only one calling for that.

The others have aped more or less Newt’s stance but with less detail. That they and left wing media are bashing Newt over his illegals views is hypocritical and has nothjing to do with truth but merely a tool to attack the frontrunner.

though with different goals

If freeper want total deportation then this should be a Bachmann forum instead of Cain.

Bachmann though was savaged by Sarah folks here early on so something tells me for many it’s about politics not immigration

The long term period will be defined so that almost all illegals qualify. The small group not eligible will produce phony documents.

Yep. And then the ACLU will make sure there is "fairness" and "equality" for the rest.

I agree that all the laws need to be enforced including no benefits/welfare etc. for non-citizens. Many will self-deport.

If you add in that anyone who is not a citizen and votes in any of our elections or gets benes/welfare will be immediately deported, you might drastically reduce the enormous vote fraud in this country as well as financial fraud.

Of course, that would require the enforcement of these laws, but if you did, you would find a huge self-deportation and improvement in our economy just from stopping the fraud and consequential drain.

“I have no tolerance at all for illegals, but I sympathize with kids who were brought here by their parents and grew up here. There ought to be a path to citizenship for them. If they do some service—military service, or some civilian service opportunity for girls, for those guys who don’t qualify for military service on medical grounds, or for the specially talented. If they prove they’re devoted enough to this country to give of themselves in order to become citizens, then they should have the chance to apply for citizenship.”

You realize, of course, that your “plan” will ultimately result in a complete transformation of this country to an analog of Mexico! It may happen anyway. The Hispanics are reproducing in this country at a rate that is a multiple of the rest of the population. As soon as the transformation is complete, they will, as they already have here in California, become the de facto leadership and the result will be a country that looks like everything South of the Border. There are very few, if any Hispanics who have any real affinity for the US. They are just a pack of undereducated leeches who have come here in an act of basic self-preservation and most owe there allegiance to Mexico or wherever they came from.

Does it get any loopier than to suggest outsourcing immigration verification to MasterCard and Visa?

This is even far sorrier than his suggesting six sigma will lead to government savings.

Horse sh**! ...This way leads only to more illegals swarming over the border in the hopes they will become "long term illegals with families".

Horse sh**! back atcha!

The FIRST POINT in Newt's immigration plan has AWLAYS been 'CLOSE THE BORDER' Really close it. Then work on the rest, point by point.

In the meantime, the other candidates push out their sound-good talking points, skewed to get votes.

But here's an idea" Why don't YOU and they - and you insist that they - (the other candidates,) give us a detailed plan of just how you are going to round up 12+ million illegals and deport them? Indeed, how do you even find them?

There is no such plan because it can't be done.

So, we take the situation that is and work from there. Newt has a plan to get a handle on who they and are and HOW TO KEEP TRACK of them - by taking it out of the gov'ts hands and giving the task to people who know how to keep track of things.

Nair-do-wells, recent crossovers, criminals are deported FAST, no catch and release 'on their word they'll go home.

Those who are otherwise law abiding, hard working, long time in country, raising responsible families can stay as long as they stay thus - BUT - will NOT get citizenship nor can they vote. And that can be verified with the tracking program Newt would put in place.

Also, he would crack down on employers who look the other way. They would be, finally, held accountable.

With Newt's plan, we would indeed see "to more illegals swarming over the border" - the OTHER WAY.

One by one, as Newt's plan got implemented, a new wave of illegals would be getting outta dodge. Look how many picked up and skedaddles outta Doge (Arizona) when they announced the intention to check people for citizenship whenever someone was pulled over for a traffic violation.

You are either woefully or deliberately uninformed - I'm guessing Newt isn't your horse in the race, to begin with. Whyn't you tell us YOUR horse's plan - detailed, step by step plan?

The difference between Newt and the others is the he - I think naively - trusts the American people to be able to think.

I guess Rush was right, Wolf and gang huddled for days before the debate trying to find a strategy to trip Newt up - including practicing how they thought he might answer a certain question - and the, in the 30-60 seconds where He could only scratch the surface, they could "get a gotcha" - and their accomplices , most notably Bachman, would grab it and run with it - as would the media. (She already had her people getting the word out before they were even out of the building. And she KNOWS the truth. She's attacked EVERY other candidate, one by one - oh, except Romney. Hmmm - playing shill in return for VP or other big slot? (She's starting to hiss)

Unlike Newt, they know the American Sheeple will mostly believe what ever talking point they're fed.

It works - even in Free Republic. How many of you actually do a search on what Newt's stance really is on programs? How many even have bothered to go to Newt.org and read his plans. Unlike any other candidates links, his is detailed and precise...not just throw away promises.

Myself, I'm hoping - probably against hope - that at least more FR's and conservatives will do their homework ( and just listening to media printed words and hype is not due diligence - that's an F" grade.)

Newt is being savaged because he is calling for legalization aka amnesty. Mass deportations is a straw man. Not everybody thinks mass deportations is a practical policy. But nobody here wants legalization.

>> Tell us again how a guest worker program is a good idea in an economy with millions of unemployed.<<

I suppose you didn’t see the problems over here in Georgia with the farmers who couldn’t get people to come out and harvest crops because the “unemployed” wouldn’t do it and the Mexicans were afraid to or had left because of the new law?

Yep. Especially when they start vouching for each other that they’ve all been here forever.

I fail to see why those who have cheating our system the longest should be the most immune to the supposedly great offense of sending them back to where they belonged all along.

If they didn’t make good enough use of their decades here to be able to do well back where they belong, then it is high time we stop gracing them with special dispensation from the US taxpayer. Toss them back and let some more enterprising immigrants come in legally in their place.

No doubt, there are places that don’t require you to show ID to vote and the illegals find out where those places are pretty quick. In my town, they require ID. When I loved two towns over, they got pissed when I pulled out my drivers license. “Put that away, you don’t need that.” My 4 year old daughter could’ve voted in that place.
