Glenn’s revealing interview with Newt Gingrich ( Newt is a progressive )
Glenn Beck ^ | December 6th | Gingrich interview

You can read a FULL transcript of this interview HERE

Glenn welcomed the current front-runner for the GOP nomination to the program this morning on radio, and the usually unflappable Newt Gingrich was met with some serious questions about his record on healthcare, global warming, and more.

Glenn started the interview by making it clear that this was not a "gotcha" interview, but that Glenn had "serious concerns" about Newt Gingrich as President. Glenn's producers had made it clear to Newt that tough questions were going to be asked, but he did think that Gingrich is a decent guy.

"I'm asking questions because I truly, deeply care about the country just as much as Newt Gingrich does but we differ on the answers, I believe. I’d like to have him convince me that I'm wrong. I would love to have him convince me that I'm wrong," Glenn said.

On Regulation

Glenn started by playing a piece of audio where Gingrich claimed to be a "Theodore Roosevelt Republican", a political figure in history that Glenn believes is strongly tied to the Progressive movement in history on both sides of the aisle.

This guy's position on subsidies is ludicrous. And he says he's a Roosevelt republican, yet anything I've ever read about Teddy Roosevelt is that he was a big government guy.

As they talked about after the interview, Roosevelt went from being a big government guy, to being a huge massive government guy.

I cannot vote for Newt Gingrich after hearing this interview. He hung himself.

Unfortunately I would vote for a ham sandwich if it got Obama out of office.

I, for one, concur with you.

Okay, let’s go with Bachman/Santorum. They can’t get over mid single digits inside their own party, sadly, but we will feel better about ourselves. Of course, we lose the general but what the hey? It’s only the collapse and implosion of a nation. Any other ideas?

Thanks for posting this. I was looking for it.

The sooner Newt gets out of the way, the better.

They’re both a ham sandwich. In the interview, you can’t miss it.

I guess I’m one of those “purists”.

Only way I’m voting for a ham sandwich is if it has Swiss cheese, and it’s on rye bread.

With deli mustard.

And a pickle on the side.

"I would vote for a ham sandwich if it got Obama out of office."

But would running a ham sandwich lose us the Muslim vote? ;-)

Newt claims to be a conservcative but his knee jerk reaction to ANY problem is some government action. How is that conservative???

I can't hold out for the “perfect conservative” but I can go with someone that can be brought along. Romney is so entrenched in his Liberalism that he would sell us out within his first week whereas Newt will seek out ways to work with us.

Glenn would probably be the first to stipulate that. There’s such a thing as being too smart for your own good, ya know? There is such a thing as being so smart you think nobody else could possibly be any smarter. Smarter or not, Glenn Beck knows the truth about TR. He’s raised MY consciousness about him.

There is a basic point here that everyone misses, even regarding Romney.

There is no way these people and a republican Congress, are not going to repeal Obamacare and the individual mandate. Heck, the Supreme Court may invalidate the individual mandate by then.

Yes, they all toyed with the idea, and they supported the medicare prescription drug plan because let’s face it, politics. They are not pure yada yada yada.

But we are going to have to pick one of these republicans. It probably is not going to be Bachman or Santorum.

Yes, Newt and every other republican has toyed with some big government. They still will be 1000% better than Obama, for more reasons than can be listed here.

Newt is not a libertarian. He also is not a liberal.

last point, Newt is right that people needed to be prepared for big change and a consensus needs to be developed. That is policy neutral, and it is unfair to call it “progressive rhetoric” as Beck does.

And who, in the real world (not the one we wish), is going to take his place?

It’s a red VS blue sandbox fight and it’s OK because he’s OUR progressive.
