Gingrich vs. Romney: Head to Head Debate?

Now that Gingrich and Romney have emerged as the clear Republican front-runners, the two candidates are being heavily vetted for the impending primaries and caususes. After a number of crowded GOP stages, some suggest it is time to narrow the debates down to the front-runners. Do you want to see Gingrich and Romney discuss the issues in a one on one debate?

Yes

No

Ditto to what you said !

I don’t like either one of them, and I also don’t think either one of them can beat out obammy.

How did we get so screwed????????

Of course I will vote against the won-—but I’m afraid it will be another hold my nose and vote thing.

That would be such a serious debate. I suggest we toss in Ron Paul just for grins.

Tea partiers are going Newt over Romney due to their records of actual accomplishments.

Comparing their actual accomplishment records in evidence:

Newt: Pro-life Reaganite, led the Republican Revolution, took the congressional majority from the Democrats who had held it for 40 years. And even with a democrat president (Clinton): cut taxes, cut spending, cut the national deficit, cut welfare, balanced the federal budget four years running, cut regulations, reduced unemployment, blocked socialized healthcare (HillaryCare) and encouraged the Reagan economy to flourish throughout his term and beyond. Not a bad conservative record at all. We can use some of this now!!

Newt is a veteran of the Reagan Revolution and the leader of the Republican Revolution. His record of actual accomplishments shows that he is a natural Tea Party Revolution fighter and was a fighter even before the tea party existed.

And it's true that he actually is a leading conservative base and tea party favorite:

http://www.gallup.com/poll/151355/Gingrich-Romney-Among-GOP-Voters-Nationwide.aspx

Romney: Pro-abortion Reagan denier, crossed the aisle to promote abortion, gay rights, gun-control, liberal judges and actually advocated for and installed a socialist healthcare system (RomneyCare) which became the model and impetus for ObamaCare. Saddled his state with unnecessarily higher healthcare costs, busted budgets, busted Republican label, liberal activist judges, tax payer funded abortion, first in the union gay marriage, and individual mandates against the previously free citizens complete with tax penalties for non-compliance. Not even a moderate record. Romney is a liberal progressive, even to the left of his ideological ally, the late Ted Kennedy.

“Have got to enter an email address to participate in this poll. I get enough crap in my email box already so let me say, “YES” I’d like to see a one-on-one debate.”

Ditto. I think Newt could mop the floor with Mitt (with one half of his brain tied behind his back just to make it fair).

Romney's ineligibility, his bad performance as Gov.,
and his backstabbing remain IGNORED.

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Poor sport spoiler Romney doing what he does best:

Novak: "Fred Thompson drop-out rumors traced to Romney campaign"

Said Novak: "The rumors were traced in part to Mitt Romney's campaign,
trying to stir up strife between McCain and Thompson
."

"Despite outspending his rivals by huge margins throughout the primaries,
(Mitt Romney, Carpetbagger UT,CA,MA,NH,Mexico) lost Iowa, South Carolina, Florida and California.
The only primaries he won were in Michigan, where Dad was governor; LDS states;
and a few states on Super Tuesday in which his California-obsessed rivals
couldn't spare the cash to advertise.
Only John Connolly in 1968 had a worse cash-to-delegates ratio.
And John McCain rightly did not like Romney's tactics during the primaries.
(W)hen (Romney's early leads) started slipping away, he resorted to unfair,
distorted, scorched-earth negative ads, betting that his opponents couldn't
afford to spend enough for the truth to catch up to his charges."

Not sure what you’re smoking but CONSERVATIVES, TP supporters, and our grassroots ALL support Newt (per all polling) over Willard and every other candidate. , Period.

Every poll of Tea Party supporters and grassroots conservatives I have seen, all reflect that most of the respondents support someone other than Gingrich. Do you have anything that shows otherwise?

Just a thought in my own opinion: The elites will see Newt hand Willard’s head to him on a platter in a head to head debate. They may decide to pull Willard completely out of the debate circuit. That will spell Willard’s demise because if you don’t debate, you are no longer relevant.

Go Newt!

This Tea Party conservative thinks both Mitt and Newt suck. Why support the anti-Romney who is most like the man himself?

Hopefully conservatives will coalesce around Santorum or Bachmann soon.

Willard would never go head to head with someone that can think..
He spent a career tricking democrats into voting for him..
Newt is trickyier than Willard.. and he knows it..

I would like to see the one on one debate. But it will not happen. the Fix is in—Newt is dead meat—Flawed—Its going to be Mitt Romney for President and some other lackluster RINO for VP. I can say it turns my stomach. Still, if this is it—and there is no real 3rd party challenge with a chance—we must fight to get back the House and Senate at least! We must make Obama a one term president-—Still, if their is Any way to stop this train wreck .... I can’t think of one.

I don't deny Newt has conservative bona fides and the guy is a genius but...

...hadda be a but.

He can't stick to conservatism, no he has to think out loud about every little free floating ideological notion that pops in his head and bunches are not only not conservative but downright socialist—AND ON THE RECORD.

Like Bradley told Patton—”Your worst enemy is your own big mouth!”

Jim, I too want someone, anyone to stop the American Lenin of Color and Newt is infinitely more qualified than Mitt to do it...that said.

...hadda be a that said.

I fear many conservatives are embracing the “Buckley Rule” (voting for the most conservative candidate who can win) much too early and thus are falling for the RINO/DNC/MSM trap of being forced to chose between just two candidates even before a single vote is cast. TWO candidates—one they can destroy before Tampa and one after aka Newt and Mitt.
We are in a tangle it's true—McCain taught us that letting the GOP establishment RINOs and the DNC/MSM pick our candidate made suckers of us all and now we are so desperate to save America from Obama’s Marxist tyranny we have abandoned that hard learned lesson as we cling once again to THEIR anointed choices.
It's Huckabee and McCain for us all over once again and this time even before Iowans get out of bed on the morning of the third day of 2012.
