"Once they get a hold of the crazy things he's said and done like taking his two-hour old baby who died right after childbirth home and played with it for a couple of hours so his other children would know that the child was real," Democratic commentator Alan Colmes said on FOX News today. "That's a cheap shot, Alan. To say it's crazy, something that's that personal and hurtful as losing a child and to mock it like that is beyond the pale and beneath you," Colmes' conservative opponent Rich Lowry said after the personal attack. “I even think some of the dastardly characters we have in the main stream media are not going to go as low as you just have Alan,” National Review editor Rick Lowry said later in the conversation.

Playing with it would be. Although I imagine that was not the case. Unless having the baby in clothes, wrapped in a blanket, and holding it and/or rocking it in a crib is considered “playing” by the angry idiot Colmes. (And while perhaps not my style - I could see all of the above as part of the healing process.)

Sadly, in the 19th century, people took photos of their dead babies to try to remember and memorialize them.
I used to kind of like Alan even though he was on the left. I now know that he is one of the sickest most despicable people on the planet.

Colmes exhibits a progressive neurosis since losing the gig with his name in the title. It seems Hannity help keep Colmes tethered somewhat to reality.

Colmes is ugly, inside and out. Every precious baby deserves to be revered and loved and seen by the family, even if the baby went back to heaven right away. The way colmes mocked it makes me want to scream.
With all the things wrong with colmes he is lucky his mother let him survive. What an evil person to mock a family who went through the worst a family can go through. I can honestly say that I hate this bastard.
Well, as an Irish-Catholic, I can remember how so many of people during my childhood thought it was weird that we had wakes with the dead body on display. We didn’t think anything of it; in fact, it made us very aware of life and death.

Bringing the child home is actually a pretty considerate thing to do for the family. The siblings had a brother pass and deserved to be with the body for a bit and mourn as a family. This is what people do when the most important things in life come before them. Kudos to the Santorum bunch. God bless them.
You would be wrong. I suppose you think funerals in funeral parlors have always been the case. That would be wrong. Funerals for the deceased have historically been held in the home. I am betting you are one of those that walks into a funeral home, takes a 1 second look, and scatters like a rat back to your home. I am also betting that as a young boy or girl, nobody that loved you said it was ok to touch the hand of a favored aunt or uncle or even mother/father/brother sister in the coffin did they. You are in the minority buddy and probably the saddest minority. I am betting you have yet to lose a single loved one.

Every century has its eccentricities and rituals. One can only imagine what future generations will think of us!
Alan Colmes is just about the worst scuzz ball on TV — right up there with Bob Beckel. I don’t know why Fox keeps them around.
I think Colmes makes up much of what he says just for shock value. Nobody could really think that way. I hate it when Fox puts him on opposite Monica Crowley like they are trying to provoke a family fight. It seems like a big set up to me, and I just change the channel.
