MANCHESTER, N.H.--Mitt Romney won the New Hampshire primary Tuesday, the second state in a row he has carried in his campaign for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
Romney is the first Republican, not including incumbent presidents, to win both the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary since Iowa Republicans began holding their first-in-the-nation caucuses in 1976.
Ron Paul came in second; Jon Huntsman in third.
It was a start-to-finish victory for Romney in New Hampshire, who led in the polls here throughout the 2012 campaign. Romney owns a summer home in the state, which borders his home state of Massachusetts, where he served as governor from 2003 to 2007.
From here, the candidates go on to South Carolina, the first primary in the South. There, Romney's electoral dominance will not be a such a foregone conclusion....

I have a funny feeling that you’re right and nobody will drop out until South Carolina is over. Florida could end up being very different, though, especially if endorsements are in play.

Palin is waiting for a brokered Convention. Isn’t it interesting that delegate totals are not in the news? In fact we won’t know the total delegates for Iowa till around March and the New Hampshire delegate wins, what are they?
Perry spent no time there. NH is like IA in that every single voter needs their ass personally kissed by a candidate before they'll even consider voting for them. It's outrageous that we let this continue election after election.

Exactly. I have a a friend who was once a staunch conservative. His take is Anybody But Onada (ABO). ABO includes Romney, Gingrich, Paul, Perry or Huntsman. He has bought the GOP koolaid hook, line and sinker.
He keeps falling back on the GOP talking point of electability. It does not occur to him that he can play a role in making a conservative electable. Apparently his Florida circle of friends—very comfortable or better financially—agree with him.
I asked him if he thought the GOP was a real opposition party to the demrat party? He’s an otherwise smart guy and saw where I was going. He refused to answer the question. Instead he snarled at me that third party candidates can’t win and will insure Onada wins. I asked him if there was any material difference between GOP RINOs and Marxist demrats. The best I could make of his answer was that RINOs would take us down the Marxist road slower.
In any case, I asked him how voting for a RINO this time would return the country to its Constitutional roots. Of course he had no answer. What we do is thst voting for RINOs only begats more RINOs.
Your post is right on. Conservatives must break the RINO-led, demrat party controlled national GOP now. By break I mean recapture it from the demrat party and its RINO useful idiots. The best way to do that is to rally around the lone conservative pres. candidate. That person is Santorum. Certainly there is some risk involved. IMHO the risk is far greater—and potentially irrevocable—settling for the a RINO.
Insanity:So Perry should write a Paper on his 'campaign strategy' and submit it for publication in Science Magazine. He'll become a hugh hit in the world of physics for proving another one of Einstein's theories is correct.

NH is still far more conservative than the rest of New England, and moved sharply back toward the right in 2010.
The biggest problem is the open-in-all-but-name primary. Liberals vote in the Republican primary in droves, particularly in a year like this one when the Democratic primary is a rubber stamp for a single candidate.
In NH, you can register as an “unaffiliated” voter. When you arrive to vote, they ask if you want a Republican or Democratic ballot. You’re automatically registered in whichever party you choose, and you cast your ballot. There’s a table by the exit where you can fill out the form to DROP the party affiliation you gained 3 minutes before, so you’ll be able to repeat the trick in the next primary.
Unaffiliated voters are VERY common in here in NH. I would guess that about 1/3 of Romney’s votes yesterday were unaffiliated liberals and Rats. They won’t be voting for him in November.
These rules are controlled by state law, not by the state parties. The Republicans have big majorities in the legislature, so they COULD fix the law if they managed to override the Rat governor’s veto. But this problem doesn’t seem to be high on their list.
We have a lot of work to do at the local level in NH Republican politics. It’s dominated by mushy RINOs who fell in line behind Mittens this year.
The right thing for the national Republican party to do is reduce the delegate count for NH to something even smaller and less significant than it is now. It wouldn’t solve the problem of the media over-hyping NH elections, but it would make the skewed election results matter less.

In the past decade, well off due to property values in California, really vile left wingers, often vicious gays, sold their California homes and moved to New Hampshire with the large $ gains from their California properties.
I couldn’t understand why Californians would move to a place so cold and out of the Ca/Ny gay scene.
A woman we know, who was an office manager for one of the hostile gays, who came out of his closet and later moved to NH with his lover, clued us in.
She said the migration of wealthy gays to little NH would probably result in control of NH like they control Gay Frisco, Ashland, Eugene, Taos and special places in Colorado.
The early clones of these gay migrators in the 1990’s went to Ashland/Eugene Oregon, Taos and rich left wing areas in Colorado and got control of the political scenes in those areas. NH was the new targets of these divisive people.
Whatever NH is, it is now not representative of most of America. They would like for us to believe that myth.
I've been thinking about that. It's said that a country that can't control its borders is not a country.
Could it be said that a party that can't control its primaries isn't a party?
Not really. Just wait until the primaries in the conservative states - then we can get our jollies. I much prefer Perry to either Romney or Newt. Getting 1% in NH is a win in my book - considering it is an open primary and independents and dems subsribe to operation chaos.

Perry brought in Californians to help him campaign in Iowa. Using that “logic” dont be surprised if Perry brings in the Harlem Globetrotters to help him campaign in SC.
Hopefully, FLoridians learned their lesson with Charlie Crist. Maybe not - time will tell.

You think we should keep a conservative who has great experience as Governor of one of the largest economies in the world as a presidential candidate. Yes, I agree. The attacks on Rick Perry from Freepers leads me to think the level of political discourse has declined too much at this site. The moderators should have zotted those attacking Perry at the same level they zot those who promote Romney. Those who attack Rick Perry are so offensive that rather than convincing someone to vote for their candidate of the week, they solidify oppostition to anyone they purport to support. I would not be surprised if they were trolls.
