DEARBORN HEIGHTS — A figurative beat down turned literal beating has led to the felony arrests of a group of local high school football players.

Police arrested four Star International Academy seniors Wednesday on aggravated assault charges stemming from an altercation in the team’s last game of the season.

The players -- Mohamed Ahmed, Fanar Al-Alsady, Hadee Attia and Ali Bajjey, all age 17 -- are accused of gang-beating Lutheran Westland’s quarterback as time expired in Lutheran’s 47-6 drubbing of Star on Oct. 21.

According to numerous witness statements gathered by police, Lutheran’s quarterback was set to take a knee to run out the clock. Before the snap, referees told both teams to refrain from contact, police said.

After the snap, however, the four arrested Star players burst through the line and allegedly manhandled Lutheran’s quarterback. Police said they ripped off his helmet, threw him to the ground and punched and kicked him repeatedly. The incident came to an end after coaches, players and refs stepped in and broke it up.

I knew you didn’t mean what you said you meant—at least the way the rest of us understood it.

I can see your point for kid’s games.

However, there’s plenty of reasons to hate the Patriots, but this shouldn’t be one of them. I have seen some teams come back from defecits that, given the score and time left, should have been impossible. It can happen. So that wouldn’t be wracking up the score, but just ensuring you won!

Now, when Brady took a knee at the end of the first half in Sunday’s game, I thought that was stupid. They barely won, and because the Ravens screwed up, really, and just the week before I saw NE get a TD against Denver with only a minute left. So it wasn’t impossible. But that play (taking a knee) on Sunday told me either Belechick had no confidence in Brady, or Brady in himself, or the Ravens were just playing them hard enough to scare them into not trying.

But it peeves the hell out of me to watch a team with a 41 point lead kneel on the ball and run out the clock.

Seems reasonable: the game is over except for the clock. At best they can only kneel 4 times so the time was 1:30 or so minutes to go.

I don’t know what makes me angrier, the cowards who did this, or this:
“This is a taxpayer supported Muslim charter school. Separation of church and state is not a problem for Muslims. Our tax dollars are supporting these people and they scream racism...”

Actually I have a straight up question.
Why do we put up with animals like these four? They should have been hung by an angry crowd from the goal posts. There is no logical reason to allow them to continue with their anti Christian violence. They are like the mass murderer who started out killing small helpless animals. Those people should have been stopped permanently at that time. These four need to be stopped permanently right now. They are mass murderers in the making.

Why do we put up with animals like these four?

My suspicion is that the team was headed for some sort of post season or championship play and a fight would have cost them in their league. It is a lose-lose for the better team. If they fight back they get penalized, and if they don't they're pussies. Bleh.

The players may have planned this incident long before it happened. They knew that they couldn't be punished or disciplined in a strictly football sense because the game was over, therefore no 15-yard penalty and no ejections from the game officials. If they were seniors and this was the last game of the season, they couldn't be suspended from future games, either.

Can someone please let us know if there were any statements in the days immediately after the incident from (1) the coaches or administrators of the Muslim charter school or (2) the coaches or administrators of the offended Lutheran school?

I predict numerous injuries and personal fouls to Star International Academy's team next season.
These seniors won't be there for it, unless they're failed.
