Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) on Keystone Pipeline: ‘Twenty Thousand Jobs Is Really Not That Many Jobs’
Big Government ^ | 1-25-2012 | Joel B. Pollak

Posted on 01/25/2012 1:55:00 PM PST by servo1969

This morning, Rep. Jan Schakowsky appeared on the Don Wade and Roma show on WLS-AM Chicago to comment on President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address. Schakowsky praised the president’s green energy initiatives, claiming that the (recalled) Chevy Volt “is doing pretty well” and defending Obama’s failed investment in Solyndra.

When the hosts asked her to defend President Obama’s decision to block the development of the Keystone pipeline, Schakowsky did not dispute that the project would create jobs, but denied that these jobs were significant:

"Twenty thousand jobs is really not that many jobs and investing in green technologies will produce that and more. But I’ll tell you what, you know it seems to me that the Republicans would rather have an issue than a pipeline."

When the hosts pointed out that Schakowsky’s union allies support the pipeline, she was speechless.

“”Twenty thousand jobs is really not that many jobs””

This is offensive on so many levels. Hopefully, the message will get to the unemployed Democrats in her district and they will give her the boot.

It’s that old stale Democratic thinking that has her state in a world of financial hurt. When are these idiots going to wake up?

I’m sure Don ripped her a new one. The woman is tone deaf, in addition to being afflicted with rampant liberalism.

Rep. Jan Schakowsky (democRAT Il.) assumes she is your better. She also assumes she is entitled to a massive pension and free medical care for the rest of her life.

Next Primary election in her district, what are you going to do about it ?

Why pick on this woman. She is only one Democrat on the Hill.

They are all the same way. They all vote the same way, they all are little more than sycophants and Obama apologists.I do not know how Democrats get this type of loyalty out of normal thinking people, but once they hit the Hill they are brainwashed or something.

I believe Star Trek ran a few programs about a society known as Borgs, who all were programmed to serve the society.

Democrats are Borgs. Once elected they can only serve the Borg. Their every thought is of the Borg. Their every action for the Borg.

How else can anyone excuse the Obamacare, The acts of destruction on the Constitution, The GM bailouts and Solyndra, The EPA closing own the coal industry and electrical power plants .They cannot be that blind or stupid.Perhaps they are just programmed-—like the Borg.

‘Twenty Thousand Jobs Is Really Not That Many Jobs’

In the grand scheme of things, no, 20K jobs isn't that many. But what of the ohter ancillary jobs that would be created in the pizza joints, bars and other hospitality industry to "service" those workers.

What of the lower oil price in the US which in turn lowers gasoline/diesel prices, which lowers everyone's costs for food and gives those who still have jobs, more money to spend on discretionary things which creates even more jobs?

What a ditz

What % of 20 million is 20 thousand?

Where were your Christmas presents made?

Bring the jobs home.

Get everyone back to work, paying taxes and buying things made here.

It reminds me of when Mayor Nagin of New Orleans wouldn’t use the school buses to evacuate New Orleans because it would only help 100,000 people.””’

He also had 2 other excuses that I heard at that time:

1. “They are not ready to use”===a total lie since school was due to start the very next day & all the busses were gassed up & ready to roll on Monday morning.

2. “The busses did not have AIR CONDITIONING”===but the fact that school children use such busses each & every day-2 times a day seemed to totally escape any thought process going on in Nagin’s brain.

Nagin is close to the most stupid person I have ever heard of.

What about the jobs that lower energy prices add on to that initial 20 thousand?

Incredible; but the bobble heads will agree; no matter what. As well; it is critical that Repubs emphasize not just jobs; but the issue of National Security! Absolutely; this impacts; in the worst way. Obama,Inc. is clearly a threat to America; and they guarantee, only the downward slide on the slippery slope. (Demint missed this aspect last night; speaking only of economic impact etc. et al.)

Oh, we are so in trouble and we need real patriots at work to address the madness; before there simply are no mechanisms left, to halt America's descent and our morphing completely into the nightmare 'image of the Marxist - Alysky-Maoist - Left'. The change Obama is still promising.

Heard some GM suit today (or yesterday) say that there are less than 8,000 Volts on the road.”””

There are far less than that——they have all been recalled for battery fires.

I’ll remember that the next time the Unions force companies to lay off their workers, just try telling them, “A hundred Jobs Is Really Not That Many Jobs.”

I wonder what her answer is to the fact that Obama let a contract for new Air Force planes go to BRAZIL to a company that is 20% owned by George Soros????

Why would we let ANY country build any military equipment for the USA? WHY???

Or the fact that Beechcraft in Florida spent considerable time & money going over the specifics of this contract only to be denied to even BID on this contract????
Obama is running hog wild.

Hope the voters add one more to the list of unemployed when she runs for re-election.

Good luck with that. She represents a rich, liberal, northside lakefront district and has won 70%+ of the vote every election.

.....and yet the return of just 100 jobs from China by Master Lock is worthy of special mention by Zer0 in his SOTU!

Obviously the statement was meant for the (big)Ears of the Dumbo in D.C. — getting brownie points for upholding the party line is all that counts here.

So she is not stupid.

Just corrupt.
