For all the pomp and excess of Madonna's Super Bowl halftime show, it is likely to be a single extended middle finger by guest singer M.I.A. that is most remembered.
The gesture, accompanied by a barely disguised expletive, came during a performance of Madonna's new single, "Give Me All Your Luvin." At the end of her lines, M.I.A. appeared to sing "I don't give a (expletive)," although it was hard to hear clearly.
The incident was reminiscent of Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction" eight years ago -- a surprise risque moment in front of tens of millions of unsuspecting viewers. The brief exposure of Jackson's nipple during the 2004 halftime show raised a storm of controversy and put CBS in hot water with the Federal Communications Commission.
The Super Bowl, shown on NBC this year, is routinely viewed by more than 100 million people, the biggest TV event of the year.
The screen briefly went blurred after M.I.A.'s gesture in what seemed like a late attempt to cut out the camera shot. The NFL, which produces the show, had no immediate comment.

I thought my eyes were deceiving me. When Madonna sang “$hit” in the lyrics, they cut to this guy giving the finger, then the screen went yellow for a second.
What you said! I don’t watch it either. They can kiss the only part of mine that isn’t white.
That obscene gesture was pathetic, ghetto, Kanye/Janet/MIA (whatever she’s called) BS.

All of that trash got together on one stage and all we got was the finger? Not pleased, but expected much worse.
Easy fix. Don’t watch the super bowl and let them know you won’t watch it.

LOL...Mud-donna...LOL. That old crow barely made it up on the bleachers and looked like she was about to snap a limb trying to wiggle around. Bones are brittle at her age.
I got bored pretty quick and just visited the reading room until the farce was over.

I didn’t realize the game was on today until now. Like I said last night, we’re isolated here.
I missed this tramp “giving the finger” - it was lost among all the spread legs, hip thrusts, and sado-masochistic sexual gestures.
I didn’t watch the game, much less the halftime show. One has to wonder what audience the NFL is trying to appeal to when booking the halftime show?
The in-person audiences at SB’s have usually paid a barrel of money to attend. Is that what they want to see? For the past few years the ‘talent’ has been older performers, i.e., McCartney, Rolling Stones and now Madonna. So maybe that’s what the people with the $ to attend want to see, stars of ‘their’ time?
It’s said 2B people around the globe watch the game/show. Is that how the NFL wants to project itself and the USA to the world?
Sometimes it’s just good not to have TV or time/inclination to watch it.

Wouldn’t be any sense in being one if you couldn’t act like one.
Instead of calling it the half time... they can call it the trash time.
