52% Say GOP Agenda In Congress Is Extreme
Rasmussen Reports ^ | Feb 12, 2012 | Rasmussen Reports

While positive ratings for Congress remain at an all-time low, more voters than ever see the Republican agenda in Congress as extreme.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 35% of Likely Voters say it would be more accurate to describe the agenda of Republicans in Congress as mainstream, while 52% feel extreme is a more accurate description. Thirteen percent (13%) are not sure.

Do some favor "extreme" agendas?

Right. The meaning of "extreme" is undefined.

'Extreme' to some could mean as the right or correct "agendas" and the "mainstream agendas" the opposite.

It’s possible, maybe even likely, that Obama will be reelected. If so, I believe the nation will survive unless:

1) The Dems, (if they take over the House and get RINO help in the Senate) pass amnesty. I believe this makes 2) and the 3) inevitable.

2) One of the 5 (at least sometimes) sane SCOTUS judges retires or dies while Obama or other leftist maniac is in office.

3) The entitlement addicts become a permanent majority. I talked to a friend in Oklahoma who has a severely disabled young son, and the doctors convinced him that he needs Obamacare. He said he has voted for the GOP all his life up to now but now he switched sides. I could have tried to explain that when the USA becomes Greece, “we are going to run out of other people’s money” but....

This poll is insane. It shows the MSM really does control the events and Rush, Talk Radio, Fox, the blogs are simply noisy nats in the socialist progressive hairnets. It looks to me that the uniformed , the dopes will outvote the informed and conserv patriots. IF so, we are done as a nation. Please say that this will not be so and keep fighting to oust as many libs as possible in Nov. and support the Pubs though they have many warts.

My question is this: WHY hasn’t a single Republican in Congress challenged the current rodent on any of his end-runs around the Constitution?? For the life of me, I can’t figure this one out. Are they ALL corrupted now?

"I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!"

Perhaps the greatest quote ever from an American politician - although I've seen it said that it wasn't a Goldwater original but rather copied from an ancient Roman orator.

It's a good maxim by which to live an ethical, moral life. Yet it provided fodder for the MSM to tar Goldwater with the "extremist" label through that 1964 campaign.

This is BS. People surveyed probably didnt know what “extreme agenda” involves and accept accept the MSM’s claim that the GOP agenda is extreme. So, this is a measure of media penetration. You’d have to have specifics of an agenda to know the true public view. This also shows the need for the GOP to be constantly on air explaining its positions.

RE :”It’s possible, maybe even likely, that Obama will be reelected.

Back in late 2008 after the election I warned Democrats that the next two years would NOT go as they were hoping, would instead be VERY painful for them, and that Dems would get creamed in the 2010 midterm elections.

Similarly through the summer and fall of 2010 I warned that Republicans taking over either or both houses in congress from Pelosi would not be the blessing that many here dreamed it would be, and it make it harder to beat Obama, Recall in 2010 that Rush was saying that Obama didn't even want to win re-election, and many here were saying he probably wouldn't even run.

There is losing and there is losing. Losing is not getting your bills into law and double losing is making yourself unpopular at the same time.

We (esp me) had much fun making fun of Pelosi in 2009 and 2010 but the hard truth is that she took over house Speakers position in 2007 with one mission in mind and was very successful, win big in 2008. I have NO idea what congressional Republicans mission is.

And you were right. Some of us thought that McCain would lose in 2008, but the GOP would take the House and some senate seats 2 years later.

I will vote against Obama, but I think there is a good chance that if he is reelected, the public will be sick of him and the horse he rode in on. IOW, there could be a silver lining in 2016: a conservative POTUS.

I fear you are right.

The GOP isn’t viewed very well. They have been caught flat footed to many times, and have gone on record against tax cuts (the SS cut).

Stupid.

2016 ???

now theres some optimism...

the greece example should be the warning for us today...bambam or the other guys, doesnt really much matter at this stage of poverty...

either the whole system goes tits up on its own, or it gets stimulused to death in the next 4 yrs...

many, many other *current events* will happen in the meantime, and the parasites will turn out and burn the cities to the ground around themselves before attempting to pillage the countryside and force someone to feed em...

i can see the tidy bowl man from my house, and hes rowing his ass off trying to avoid the final "SLURP"... BLOAT...BLOAT...BLOAT...

Don’t get me wrong. If Obama is reelected I will not be able to stop cussing for a while. I hate the idea of Obama and his minions running things for 4 more years. I am not kidding when I say that he might weaken this nation beyond healing.

But the net effect of Romney or some other of this year’s GOP characters could be worse.

It is sad when voters are greedy and/or stupid. I am praying for some kind of miracle.

LOL. 85% of Americans have no idea what the Republican agenda in Congress is.

Heck, *I* don't have any idea what the Republican agenda in Congress is and I follow this stuff!

Here's the thing. People know the country is in trouble and are willing to blame anyone in DC for it whether it be Congress or Obama. This poll is just another way of saying "we don't like what's going on in DC." Nothing more.

At this point today I don't see anything good coming out of a Republican POTUS. The debt is so high it leaves little options for further tax cuts and it will sooner or later strangle any real recovery with inflation putting the POTUS in a bind, assuming we get that far. It appears impossible politically to cut spending. A bad economy favors a Dem in the WH because he will benefit from class warfare rhetoric and the Republicans blocking him from implementing it. You see anyone reporting that the current good news is because Republicans opposed tax increases on the rich?

I know Republicans will cry SCOTUS but if a Republican won this year with a close victory like 2000 and no SCOTUS resigns in the next four years it could backfire when Dems win another landslide election in 2016 and one or two resign then.

That is how it looks today, in eight months???
