A retired female fighter pilot running for former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' open seat in Congress said Friday that Rick Santorum's recent remarks on women in combat make her want to "go kick him in the jimmy."
Martha McSally, a retired US Air Force colonel and a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, is running in Arizona's congressional special election as a Republican. According to her Facebook page, she was the first American woman to fly in combat since the 1991 lifting of a ban on women in that role.
Appearing Friday morning on FOX News Channel's "FOX & Friends," she called the Republican presidential candidate "completely out of touch" for saying that the "emotions" felt by men seeing a female soldier in harm's way may jeopardize their mission.

This woman was a pilot, being in combat roles on the ground takes much more like carrying 100 pounds for days on a patrol and being able to climb, run and fight.
This woman was being an idiot when she said that and I’m no big fan of Santorum

This is not an aspiration I have for my daughters. My wife, for instance, has given birth to our 10 children. The first was a C-section. The next nine were natural, without pain medications of any kind. Now that's tough!

Ace pilot or not, she’s clueless. Flying a plane is not the same thing as frontline combat. While she can drive a stick as good as anyone else, I doubt she can haul some wounded 250 lb. Marine’s rear end out of a firing line on her back while under enemy suppresive fire. Face it - women are simply NOT fitted, physically, for much of what military forces need to do. This remains true, whether she wants to play “little Ms. offended” or not.
Yeah, and then the problem starts when little Ms. Pretty Pink Belt runs into a guy who's a combat pragmatism instead of a gentleman and who isn't particularly concerned about the preferential treatment women receive under assault laws, and who pounds her butt into a pulp before tossing her through a plate glass window.

Rick Santorum is saying all the commonsense things he should be. Women don’t belong in combat. Reporter Liz Trotta was on FOX this AM and said she couldn’t get any stats on how many women get pg in the service. The military will not give the stats. Why not? Guess. Because it wouldn’t be politically correct and it would shoot all the pro combat women ideas to hell. Go Rick we are behind you!
I sometimes wonder if it was because PC Army brass wanted to single her out for this high award BECAUSE she was female?
Not saying she wasn’t brave, but we have seen manipulation of these things before, as I recall.
You seem familiar with the situation in Israel. I’ve never been able to find out if the Iraeli army accomodates females with much lowered height, weight and physical fitness standards, as they do in the US military. Perhaps you know?
And how many members of her unit were killed in ‘combat’ while she was in command? I’m just curious. I suspect Jesse Kelly has a lot more to say about combat that Ms. McSally.
Any of the three would have looked much better in a graduation picture from Fort Benning. Sadly, none of them can produce such a picture.
I don’t have any personal knowledge, just did some searching. But the woman from the Center for Military Readiness would likely know, it would be a good organization to contact. She also wrote and IIRC testified in front of Congress why homosexuals should not be in the military. She is one intelligent and principled woman.
Actually it was best that she was circumspect as Jimmy means the main bits not the “boys”. See urbandictionary.com definition #2.
