FORT WORTH, Texas — Gun sales are booming across Texas, and some buyers say their growing belief that President Barack Obama will inevitably be re-elected is fueling their race to bear more arms.

And sales haven't just risen in Texas. There's been a rush nationwide, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram ( http://bit.ly/y3YDO6) reported in Sunday's edition.

The Cheaper than Dirt gun store in Fort Worth set a sales record for February, said store owner DeWayne Irwin, who described the rush as similar to one seen shortly after Obama's 2008 election.

"We're at the top of the roller coaster, and we're about to plummet down the side," Irwin told the Star-Telegram. "It's fixing to happen again. I don't know if it will be to the same extent it was before, but I see it coming."

Alan Korwin, author of nine books on gun laws and operator of a gun laws website, said peopleare worried that Obama's re-election would embolden a major gun control push.

Great points!

Go the route of Greece? File bankruptcy? Ask China to annex the USA? Fire up the printing presses even more?

All of the above? None of the above?

Gun prices appeared to be ~$200 north of market on anything nice

Five years ago I bought two SKS-7.62-39s. The were described as used and in good shape. They were packed in cosmoline and wrapped in paper. Each was 185 dollars. When I cleaned them I was very surprised. I could not detect any wear externally or on the working mechanisms of the rifle. The bore on it was perfect. The rifle was not even sighted in. It had not been used. Today, because of Obama, it will go for double of what I paid.

It is not a "tack driver" but it does what it supposed to do. It will ruin your whole day.

I also have tack drivers but damn the cost of ammo for them kinda hurts. Every time I pull the trigger on my tack driver, it means 1 dollar down. Ballistic Tips are great but bring money.

The key is getting all of them to party the night away on election eve so they won’t get out of bed in time to vote on election day.

So, how many free 40s are going to have to 'fall off the truck' out in the 'hoods to get that done? Can we get brewery sponsors?

In case you haven’t noticed, gun control is receding, not advancing, and has been for years.

Didn't you hear when the man told the 'brady bunch' he's working on it "under the radar"?

What other justification was there for Fast and Furious and the other operations which haven't had as much press time, including Operation Castaway, and the one running guns out of Indiana?

In addition, the whole thing about the UN Small Arms Treaty is waving from the wings, and Hillary is just fine with that. Considering the Fast and Furious operation has created an international problem, there is a chance it was not just to advance the gun control agenda here, but the global one as well.

Things can change overnight, for instance after Bobby Kennedy was shot, the '68 Gun Control Act got traction. I'd bet they wanted to use the Giffords (and a host of others') shooting that way as well, just Americans were not buying.

And after you hear about or experience some of the foreclosure and bank stupidity incidents described in the link below the likelihood of economic riots seems that much more likely. A number of really idiotic and cruel situations are described with videos.

*** I couldn’t believe one of the questions I had to answer: “Are you a wanted felon?” Yes or No. I laughed out loud at that one. ***

Never underestimate the STOO-PID-ITY™ of the Federal Gubmint.

I have a BATF 'Collector's License' (C&R, Class O3). And on the application and renewal forms they ask the Felon question. Also if you're Mentally Ill, an Illegal Drug User, or an Illegal Alien (like who would answer yes, duh). Too boot they added an additional form in recent years that 'Certifies' you are not an Illegal. And guess who fills out and signs that form 'certifying' you're not an Illegal Alien -- YOU DO. (they're complete Morons.)

But it gets even more STOO-PID. On the BATF application to become a Firearms Dealer they ask if you have a State Hunting License and to fill in your number. BUT - this is where it gets good (stoo-pid ) -- they state that if you DON'T have a Hunting License to STOP and not submit your application because -- 'You probably can't qualify to become a Firearms Dealer'!! I was like HUH??? Like what does one thing have to do with the other.

Maybe they hope that with all the dumb questions someone will get lazy and check the wrong 'Yes', 'No' box by accident. Then they have you and your gun rights are gone forever.

Well, it makes sense – everyone that bought a gun back in ’09 and sold it privately is going to have re-stock as it were.

All those 4473’s are only going to be useful as toilet paper when this is all said and done.

My buddy, who will be 75 soon, said I needed to lighten up on OB. I sent him the proposed increases to his medical costs once OB care kicks in. I haven’t heard from him since. He is retired USAF and is no longer employable. Under OB care almost his whole retirement check will be for medical insurance. It’s that or sign up for government health care which will not work out so well.

He is another one who thinks welfare is a great idea.

I purchased more guns and ammo during the Bush administration. Always buy during a Republican Administration, and sell during a demoratic administration (if you must). Prices always fall during a Republican Admin and prices rise during a demoratic admin.

buy low and sell high (I love Capitalism)

Think about this for a minute......Ask yourself, how many hunters are there in my state and then add in the number of hunters in the rest of the states in the U.S. They all own guns and probably more than one or two. That’s one hell of an army out there. We all know that our military people are very well trained and have superior weapons than the general poppulation BUT, AND more importantly, would they (and LEO’s) turn on all of us? IMHO, I think NOT!

People are arming themselves for one reason or another but when the sh t hits the fan, they will more than likely band together for a common cause. The retaking of our nation. At least I truely hope so.
