Obama: I’ll make energy prices “skyrocket” (11/2/2008. In Obama's own words. Don't get bamboozled)

In another clip from the same January 2008 interview with the San Francisco Chronicle in which Barack Obama promised to bankrupt anyone foolish enough to build coal-burning power plants, he also made an interesting admission about his entire energy plan. Obama told the editors that his policies would make energy prices “skyrocket” as the energy industry passed along the exorbitant costs of his cap-and-trade policy:

The problem is not technical, uh, and the problem is not mastery of the legislative intricacies of Washington. The problem is, uh, can you get the American people to say, “This is really important,” and force their representatives to do the right thing? That requires mobilizing a citizenry. That requires them understanding what is at stake. Uh, and climate change is a great example.

You know, when I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know — Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.

And then blame the evil energy companies for the price increases. That is how Dems took the Maryland governorship in the 2006 election.

But Obama is right about one thing, he doesn't want energy prices to up until he is re-elected.

They are busy passing obama’s deficit spending re-election Highway bill. Seems like Obama has whipped them senseless.

Since we sent a new crop of “conservatives” to D.C. nothing has changed. Actually, it has gotten worse. They used to fight a little bit, now not at all!

It would at least be nice to see a mutiny once in a while. I do think they have their ways of muzzling the newbies, but you’d think there’d be a backbone somewhere.

Course the way we eat our own, you’d half expect some folks here to trash the brash young person still wet behind the ears or some such.

Hogwash! It’s our turn for some respect.

And they were our ‘A’ team. Our ‘B’ team is McCain, Graham, McConnell,... all led by Romney.

The only 2 guys who seem to want to fight are 2.....Jim DeMint and Darrell Issa. DeMint doesn’t need the job, and Issa needs it even less. So if you have money to burn, you can risk your job, but if you NEED the job, you hide & pray you get re-elected.
