Obama's Approval Rate Plunges Due To Gas Prices

WASHINGTON - US President Barack Obama's job approval rating, weighed down by soaring gas prices, has plunged below 50 per cent, giving his political opponents what appears to be an opening in the November election, a new opinion poll showed.

The survey by ABC News and The Washington Post indicated that only 46 per cent of Americans now approved of the way Obama is handling his job and 50 per cent disapproved.

The situation was a reversal from early February when 50 per cent approved of the president's performance and 46 per cent disapproved.

According to the survey, the drop was attributed to soaring gas prices threatening to crimp America's slow recovery from a recession.

Any time you hear talk of rationalizing oil companies, ask the proposer how that would work with most of our crude coming from other nations?

“he can take NO credit for that”

Obama will take full credit where is not due.
Likewise, he will blame any and all problems on someone, or something, else.
He is quite possibly the biggest obfuscator, and lier, in the known Universe.

Here is a better way to look at prices. Crude oil has been added:

“Buy some Post-It’s ... put on gas pump.”

Spectacular idea!

This is something that could easily and rapidly go viral, and to some good effect. Of course the problems are deeper than simple price of gasoline, but it is a decent hook to get into thoughts about loss of freedom, super-regulations, massive government, and ridiculously high debt.

I’ve already got the Post-Its and a marker. Putting in the car as soon as I hit “Post”.

You and airborne are right about the possibility of the Dems finally doing something to bring gas prices down by Nov. That is why I believe it critical to couple this with high “food prices” and possibly “food stamps”, since they are far more difficult to manipulate by quick congressional fiat.

I will be spreading this, but please take note of what other FReepers have noted: gas prices can and will be manipulated by the Dems by November. This must be used as a hook at the same time to bring attention to high food prices as well as high government dependency. Those are NOT going to be able to be manipulated away by the Dems or the administration.

Something like

"High Gas Price - High food price - High food stamps - how's hope and change working?"

I believe it quite possible we may be able to say "Record gas price" in a few months, but even if gas prices fall, the others will still strike home.

Obama’s approval rating has to go below 30% in order to infultrate his base.

Destroy the base win the race.

Every one on FR must train people to speak out against Obama.

Even tweet reporters like squak on the street and squak box on CNBC.

Break into the silence with the voice of the majority.

The press is covering the gasoline story - that's WHY I feel Obama will be able to bring the price down. The Democrat-Media Complex doesn't carry water for Republicans.

"....If you honestly believe that, how does the price of oil ever go down? Because OPEC feels sorry for us now and then? Please remember that crude oil is a globally priced, fungible commodity....."

You are describing market forces at work. I am talking about something totally different- a hands-on, direct control of prices only in the US market....elevated temporarily by those who can do it- the oil companies....for the express purpose of ensuring the defeat of a President who has gone out of his way to ensure that US oil companies can not come to the global market.

If you were the US oil companies, would you pissed off....?

By artificially holding domestic gasoline prices high, the oil companies are in a unique position to really piss off the US population.

For a while at least...timing is everything.

The US market for crude oil is hardly separated from the Global market.

Most of the oil we use in this country is imported from outside our borders.

Yes, you are right on both points.

That is NOT what I am talking about. Who sets the price at US gas pumps...?

Distributors, who are in turn controlled by domestic suppliers, who are in turn controlled by.....???

SJB: “...” It’s like...a life’s mission to annoy them...”
One of lifes true pleasures : )..”

But...but...that doesn’t make me a BAD person, does it???
(like I care...!!!)

Tiger cap: “...it shows how retarded most of AMerica is ...”

Well, not “America” so much as a bunch of immature morons who thought they were electing the New Messiah. What they got instead - and foisted on the rest of us - is a feckless marxist douchebag that hates his own country, hates the majority population (that’s us, by the way), and really just grew up with a major chip on his shoulder.

Manc: “...If anyone can shorten that please let me know.”

How about “+5.00 bucks a gallon: The Real Price Of Hope and Change”.
Of course, there will always be morons who don’t get it...but they’re a waste of sperm and oxygen anyway.

Who sets the price at US gas pumps...?

Lots of different people and companies.

Distributors, who are in turn controlled by domestic suppliers, who are in turn controlled by.....???

So the hundred or so distributors, along with refineries who sell to them who also sell directly to some retailers in larger markets, but also sell to those same distributors, are all going to collude together.

These folks are all going to work together, regardless of the ones with middleman distributor and those without, they will work together to raise prices. They don't do this now because???...

And none of them will cut their prices to gain market share, they will all work together seamlessly.
