The Sanford Neighborhood Watch volunteer who shot and killed Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager, did not instigate the encounter but has received death threats and moved out of his home, his father told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday.
George Zimmerman, 28, has not been arrested, something that has put him and the Sanford Police Department at the center of a firestorm. Critics say Trayvon, who was visiting family from his home in Miami, was a victim of racial profiling.
Zimmerman's father, 64-year-old Robert Zimmerman of Lake Mary, delivered a one-page letter to the Sentinel on Thursday, saying that the depiction of his son in the media has been cruel and misleading.
George Zimmerman is Hispanic and grew up in a multiracial family, the statement says.
"He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever ...," the letter says. "The media portrayal of George as a racist could not be further from the truth."
The letter does not provide details about what happened Feb. 26 on a walkway in the gated community where George Zimmerman lives and where Trayvon was visiting. But it does challenge one basic assumption of the family's lawyers: that Zimmerman's intent when he got out of his sport utility vehicle was to confront Trayvon after calling police to report a suspicious person.

I understand what you’re saying, but we’re in no position to be making inferences. Facts are what’s needed.
The facts are always relevant. The facts are that Zimmerman was armed and confident in his ability to use that firearm. Martin ran. Zimmerman pursued. Zimmerman would have pulled his gun first if he was in fear of an attack. He didn't. He played the poor victim game that he started. He instigated the attack with the pressured pursuit of Maritn that included a confrontation with an extremely inflammatory verbal assault of racial slurs. Martin was legally standing his ground, not Zimmerman. Zimmerman was simply a criminal assailant.

There's all the information any investigator would need to determine that Zimmerman was being evasive ~

That's because when you read that Zimmerman was on the ground, screaming from help from the neighborhood and recorded on 911, with a bloody face and broken nose and Martin standing and still going for him... you thought... wait a minute, that doesn't QUITE sound like a situation where Zimmerman might have been afraid for his safety, or his life.
Yes, I can see your lips quiver with concern at that point, as your tender heart floods full of compassion for the scrapes Zimmerman's FACE left on Martin's hands as he beat him, and how that would make you insist on a full investigation, with your helpful imaginings of Zimmerman as a murderer, before you could be - gasp - "sure."

Facts are needed, but the facts released to date do not support the idea that Zimmerman hunted down and shot Martin in cold blood. If he had, the back of Z’s head would not have been bleeding.
I’m NOT saying Zimmerman is innocent. I just think the media is deliberately pushing this to get an emotional reaction over ‘racism’. Odds are, somewhere in Florida, a black guy was murdered by another black guy since this shooting. But those murders aren’t worth the media freaking out.
OH, so now the story has evolved into Zimmerman baiting the kid with filthy, racial slurs.....
