Multiple suspensions paint complicated portrait of Trayvon Martin
The Miami Herald ^ | 3/26/12 | Frances Robles

Miami Gardens teenager Trayvon Martin was suspended from school in October in an incident in which he was found in possession of women’s jewelry and a screwdriver that a schools security staffer described as a “burglary tool,” The Miami Herald has learned.

Trayvon, who claimed that an unnamed friend had given him the jewelry, was not disciplined because of the discovery, but was instead suspended for graffiti, according to a Miami-Dade Schools Police report obtained by The Miami Herald.

It’s all about keeping Trayvon’s memory alive. It’s not about the money.

And by the way, do people just take scrabble pieces and through them on the table to come up with these names?

Very interesting. The more that comes out, the more I think that the primary reason that the cops did not arrest Zimmerman was that they knew a lot about Martin. Why didn't the cops release more info about Martin's history? Possibly because, under Florida law, they can't because Martin was a juvenile.

It appears that, under Florida Juvenile Law, juvenile criminal history is confidential.

Juvenile offender records traditionally have been treated differently from other records in the criminal justice system and, with certain exceptions, have been considered confidential. Section 985.04(1), Florida Statutes, provides:

"Except as provided in subsections (2), (3), (6), and (7) and s. 943.053, all information obtained under this chapter in the discharge of official duty by any judge, any employee of the court, any authorized agent of the department, the Parole Commission, the Department of Corrections, the juvenile justice circuit boards, any law enforcement agent, or any licensed professional or licensed community agency representative participating in the assessment or treatment of a juvenile is confidential and may be disclosed only to the authorized personnel of the court, the department and its designees, the Department of Corrections, the Parole Commission, law enforcement agents, school superintendents and their designees, any licensed professional or licensed community agency representative participating in the assessment or treatment of a juvenile, and others entitled under this chapter to receive that information, or upon order of the court. . . ."[1]

The Left has a new crop of young people with no memory of the games they played in the 60’s and 70’s to make asses of again.

They will play on their good will and well instilled fear of being named “racists” until the young ones realize they are being emotionally manipulated by liars and theives.

I wonder how many young people even know what these witch-hunting fascists did to the Lax players at Duke.

Yup, ol’ Hit Man had an amateur record of something like 160 wins to 8 losses before he turned pro, kicking butt on a lot of much older, more experienced boxers.

He turned pro in 1977 at the age of 18 or 19.

But we all know a 17 year old 6'3”, 160 lb bean pole is just a baby who could never hurt a fly because the media is shouting that fact out to us at every chance they get

How long before the media starts pulling back from this story because the narrative doesn’t fit?

Trayvon’s backpack contained 12 pieces of jewelry, in addition to a watch and a large flathead screwdriver, according to the report, which described silver wedding bands and earrings with diamonds.

If screwdrivers are now burglary tools, what do you imagine a 2.5 pound steel hammer is?

actrually if you rmember the Bernhard Goetz case the African american youths he shot had sharpened screwdrives that they used to break into vending machines.

Those were MODIFIED. This was reported as just an ordinary flat bladed screw driver.

Look, almost anything can be described as a burglary tool. You can pick locks with bobby pins. You can even listen to tumblers in an old fashioned combination lock using a RED SOLO CUP ~ (might talk to Toby Keith regarding other uses ~ he knows).

A lot of this is like the nutso stuff MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) did when they got the cops to count as 'alcohol related' every accident where there was so much as an empty beer can in a trunk.

Public school officials aren't much behind that with their zero tolerance policies.

You do nothing whatsoever to maintain public support for "stand your ground" laws and the Second Amendment by allowing public officials to describe screw drivers as burglary tools, aspirins as imitation narcotics, or cupcakes as "prohibited contraband". In fact, all that happens is you end up encouraging the extension of the Fascist state into more and more private territory.

And that would be reported by the same lamestream media that ignored the eyewitness, the suspensions, and everything else.

I am a certified Martial arts instructor that used to teach the police cadets and various agencies over the years. screwdrivers modified or unmodified can be used as burglary tools or weapons. stop being naive. The Media has it's agenda and will not publish anything that varies from that.

It's the context not the item which gives it away as a burglary tool. It's a reasonable assumption to call a screwdriver a burglary tool when it is found in the same container as diamond rings, assorted jewelry and a watch that do not belong to the "owner" of the container, most particularly when the owner of said container has no reasonable explanation for having such expensive and non-teenage items on school grounds other than to claim a friend whom he will not name "gave" him diamond rings and such.

Not to mention there isn't much reason for someone attending classes to need a LARGE flathead screwdriver in a backpack containing someone else's jewelry when most of what has screws in it around school are calculators with tiny Phillips head screws.

You'd make a better case if it was his jewelry and it was a jeweler's screwdriver, at least that would be reasonable. Even if it were his jewelry and any kind of screwdriver. It all comes down to his possession of property that was not his.
