Chelsea Clinton, moderating a panel on women in politics at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan on Wednesday, told the audience that she has something in common with Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke: their experience being the subjects of Rush Limbaugh attacks.

Introducing Fluke, who entered the room to loud applause, Clinton said, "She and I have something in common: we both have been attacked by Rush Limbaugh. She was 30, I was 13."

Clinton was referring to the1993 incident in which Limbaugh said she looked like a dog on his television show ("Socks is the White House cat. But did you know there is also a White House dog?"he said, holding up a picture of a teenage Clinton).

Limbaugh provoked outrage for that comment,

When Chelsea Clinton sticks her nose out into the political landscape and makes comments Rush takes issue with, don’t go crying when Rush eats your lunch.

Rush might make a comment about how false all this is but I doubt he’ll say much.

Rush won’t let them distract him from 0bama and his horendous record.

Sorry Chelsea, but you and Sandra Fluke both chose to be in the public spotlight and therefore are fair game for Rush Limbaugh to discuss and call sluts or dogs or whatever he wishes.

“The story has a shred of truth, but not the way liberals have been recalling it for the past 20 years”

Exactly. I was a regular watcher of Rush’s tv show and recall the very real incident you have cited. I wish I had a nickel for every liberal who lies through their teeth claiming they saw the phony version of events with their own eyes. They obviously see the phony version of events somewhere on the internet, assume it is true, and then make up a story of how they witnessed it themselves. I’ll give one of many examples:

Just a little thought for this Limbaugh v Chelsea Clinton thread. I was on leave in NYC and attended the actual taping of the show in question, I was the middle of the three sailors in uniform that Rush pointed out and put us on camera a time or six. Ok, the “White House Dog” thing actually happened. The photo of Sox was on the screen, then Rush announced the ‘White House Dog’, and never looked at the picture projected behind him. He just sat there waggling his eyebrows at the camera in his (then) patented ‘ain’t I a hoot’ way. Why would he do this for a picture of a dog? As far as the ‘production mistake’ and not enough time to fix it thing. The Limbaugh show taped before a live audience was 90 minutes long, edited in post production to the 30 minutes uploaded to the feed THE NEXT DAY.

This claim is from post number 50 right here:

http://wizbangblog.com/content/2006/06/20/giving-credit-where-credit-is.php

Problem with this guys version of events is that Rush NEVER taped his show 90 minutes long, then edited down to 30. The studio audience were asked to show up to the studio a half hour before taping, the actual taping would take place only 30 minutes, not 90. And the show was uploaded to feed immediately following the taping. Not the next day. This lying liberal thought that by giving little details about the show that an audience member knows, would cement his claims. But instead, those little details he added only exposed him for the liar he is.

I wondered if Rush was pranked with that Chelsea joke. Even back then, it just wasn’t his style to pick on a little kid.

Could be a Media Matters manufactured Urban Legend. I know I heard about it, but I never actually heard it.

Will have to do some digging.

It is a manufactured urban legend, but not by media matters. It dates back to a 1993 column by Molly Ivins.

I was also watching the show and remember it well because it was totally unexpected. Rush was just as surprised as everyone in the audience when the picture came up. He was embarrassed and immediately said to take it off. Whether it was an accident or one of his production staff did it on purpose, I don't know, but I believe Rush had no part in it. The production standards on that show were really low, so who knows who was hired to work the controls.

After I posted, I went back and scrolled through the other Posts regarding this issue.

Thanks for the update. I had almost forgotten what a piece of work Molly Ivins was. Now I'll never get to sleep. Ugh.

You look at both Bill and Hillary’s mouths, and then look at Web Hubble’s and Chelsea’s mouth.

LMAO

Game set match.

Who needs a DNA test when it’s this obvious.

Wait until she’s 35 - 40. She’ll be Web Hubble in drag.

I never heard Rush say anything unkind about Chelsea.

When Rush did his TV show, he put up a picture of a dog when discussing Chelsea.

He later apologized and spanked himself on the air.
