Don’t nobody assume nothing. I don’t like the assumptions that so many have run away with due to the hearings.

The Supremes could knock this thing in the head in its entirety or manage a slim approval. I’ve gutted myself to believe it will be a “go” on Obamacare and we’re then mired in years of elections, legislative moves, and misery until maybe some day we rid ourselves of it. It’s a harsh position, but, one that prevents me from being terribly crestfallen if the Supremes give it an okay.

I read a book by Sandra day Conner in which she talks about the court always keeping an eye on the public support for the “Supremacy of court decisions.” her point was that the court must maintain the “aura” of being the sole arbitrator of what is constitutional since that role is not one that it was given in the constitution. The constitution does not provide that the supreme court is the final word..

Just a reminder: This is what they are ruling on.

That’s been exactly my mindset about it FAA. All the speculation about it being a ‘train wreck’ for the gubmints case, about who said what is all meaningless imo.

This is where we will see if there is any hope left and if we can have renewed faith in our system or if it is too far gone.

I’m almost thinking it might be close to unanimous to vacate the mandate.

If the libs think it’s a lost cause no matter how/what they argue, they might just jump ship on Zero and try to pretend at least they are legal scholars.

If Kagan is the swing vote can the public sue to have her removed for conflict of interest?

Kagan doesn’t fit the meaning of a ‘swing’ vote imo. Her opinion is already locked in. She helped to compose the arguments used during the oral arguments. She’s a hardcore leftist.

Did she not give advice to the WH on the health care bill when it was being crafted? If so is that not a conflict of interest and should she be made to recluse herself?

They should vote tomorrow and announce the decision tomorrow. The majority oppinion should be “This is unconstitutional” and leave it at that.

If they vote tomorrow the obama team will have until June to dig up dirt, black mail or kill a justice. I wouldn’t put anything past this bunch. The truth is all four of the conservative justices’ lives are in danger.

What if Health and Human Services were abolished?

How much Federal Spending would then be eliminated?

_______

BTW, which of these two Questions will bother THE NINE SUPREMES the most?

1.) A mandate is merely a dictate. Thus, if we are dictated to, do we then live under a Dictatorship?

2.) If our freedom of choice is taken from us by the dictates of a hostile Federal government, then what Liberty do we have left?

Exactly what went through my mind. Especially the part about lives being in danger. Why wait? Announce it...then write the opinion.

There was pressure from what I understand and then the left managed to use Clarence Thomas’ wife and her activism in tea party and protesting the healthcare. The left said Thomas should recuse himself too because there is a conflict in his home. Apparently each side decided to let it alone.

If Kagan had any honor she would have taken it upon herself to recuse for this case. She did it for a couple of others iirc. but NOT this one.

So much for honor.

when did the actions of ones spouse become grounds for reclusing ones self? If that is the case then half of the congress and the senate should step down for conflict of interest in bills that are being voted on.

I agree but the left would have blown it up into a situation that the dumb among us would have started agreeing. The case would have been smeared all over TV etc. They already tried to do a hit job on Thomas a couple of years ago. Some skank wrote a book, went on tours about being Thomas’ lover and generally attempted to humiliate. Didn’t work.

These people know no bottom.

So is our nation going down with a single flush or is this a festering, “low flow” requiring several pulls to get it down?

I wish they would say that it is illegal to go to the hospital unless you have a source of payment. I am sick and tired of paying for people who don’t have insurance. Isn’t that something that conservatives should care about too?

They will vote by seniority. I believe that kennedy will vote first.

I believe that Kennedy has the most seniority. He was nominated by Ronald Reagan.
