With Santorum Out, Evangelicals Edge Toward Romney, but Cautiously
NY Times ^ | April 11, 2012 | Erik Eckholm

Rick Santorum had been the last best hope of Christian conservatives who opposed Mitt Romney, derided by many as a “Massachusetts moderate.” Now, facing the abrupt end of Mr. Santorum’s presidential bid, some evangelical leaders have begun to rally behind Mr. Romney, saying their shared hostility toward President Obama will be a powerful force for uniting the party in November.

In one sign of coalescing support from Christian conservatives, the National Organization for Marriage, a leading opponent of same-sex marriage, endorsed Mr. Romney on Wednesday morning. The group called Mr. Romney a “true champion” and said that President Obama “has done virtually everything in his power to undermine the institution of marriage.”

Of the serious candidates for the office of President of the United States, Romney is clearly the less bad of the two. Only on thing stands betwseen him and the Oval Office - the willingness to take the fight to Obama.

As was so snarkily asked of George W. Bush, by no less a personage than Nancy Pelosi, Where are the jobs, Mr President? But so far nobody is asking Obama this question.

Follow that inquiry with, What about the price of gasoline, and now, increasingly, the price of electricity, Mr. President? Was it a good idea to cap off the production of electricity from coal? Of course, we have plentiful supplies of natural gas, and pretty cheap, as well, why is the installation of natural-gas burning power plants not being ramped up as swiftly as the installations can be built and put on-line? Why are there no incentives in place to take advantage of this relatively inexpensive source of motor vehicle fuel, by making much more of our passenger and trucking fleet capable of using this fuel source? What about building the infrastructure, fueling stations and retrofit systems to service existing vehicles?

There is a growing gap, that cannot ever be filled with various kinds of “green” energy, be it from sunlight, or wind power, or sprinkles of fairy dust. Get ahead of and fill this gap before it ever fully opens up, and stop wasting time, talent and treasure on what are crackpot schemes to somehow claim the “free” energy we only need to harness from the wind and sun.

There is a niche for these “renewable” energy sources, but they shall always be subject to the whims of climate and circumstance, and are not, never can be, a reliable source here on the surface of the earth.

Some 80 years ago, there were windmills on a large share of rural locations, both to pump water (primary function) and some few that drove a generator which charged up a series of Edison cell batteries, and provided a rudimentary source of electric power. But wind power proved unreliable then, and when electricity was finally made available to the vast majority of rural locations, the windmills were promptly abandoned. Some few rusty, twisted skeletons may still remain, testament to a means of extracting energy from nature that never proved any superiority to a steady flow of water or the conversion of the heat energy from burning of coal or fuel oil to widely distributed high-tension alternating current electricity.

There are so many ways to frame this coming campaign - let it by defined by the first person who can get in there to pose the questions, and give the answers the American public is so desperately waiting for.

A. Jobs and full employment, in like the 4% unemployment range among ALL able-bodied and willing citizens, only going to foreign sources when it is impossible to fill the work rosters with domestic talent.

B. Decent return on investment that prompts potential investors to put cash behind the ideas that expand and embellish the availability of every source of creative energy, unencumbered with excessive taxation and/or regulation.

C. Recognition that most of life is NOT the purview of government at ANY level to insist on some kind of oversight over the activities of the vast majority of people, and reverence for the sanctity of home, law and contractual obligations between individuals.

We do not ask much of most of the men who have served as President, only that they be decent men, and recognize their role is not to micromanage, but to give general direction and delegate power to those who may best administer that general vision that accentuates and preserves what is good about America.

The stewardship of the Oval Office is a duty of high calling, and ask yourself, who, of the persons now bidding for the job over the next four years, and all the decades that follow, best exemplifies that definition of “good steward”.

If they endorse Romney, they don’t even have a problem with gay marraige.

I’ll be honest-—Romney’s religion is a huge problem for me. Mormon doctrine is so out there, so nuts, and their “scriptures” so blasphemous, that I can’t get bothered when someone goes after his religion. There is so much material there to BE attacked, and the GOPe knew this when they set their hearts on pushing him as nominee.

And a lot of “pro-gun” Democrats have gotten “conservative” support too over the years, allowing them to be one more vote against gun rights.

Romney's nomination takes so many issues off the table, including his continued association with Rev notRight.

The DgOPe live for these kind of elections. They could run a stapler agains Obamie and win so they use the opportunity to install the most liberal progressive they can find in the Presidency.

1Sa 8:7>/u> And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.

Newt not brave won't be free

"He led us to victory before. Spectacular, historic victory. The strategy and content of his 1994 Contract with America propelled the Republicans in 1994 to win control of the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years. Even the Reagan Revolution in the 1980s failed to achieve that.

Moreover, once in power, Gingrich delivered on his promises, and maintained a solid conservative record. He carried out the Contract with America in full, holding a vote on every item as promised, most of which did pass. His record was unswervingly pro-life, pro-gun and Second Amendment, and anti-tax.

Newt's the only one with the experience, and the courage to guide America through these troubling times.

And Evangelical Leaders want you to vote for Mitt Romney.

“With Santorum Out, Evangelicals Edge Toward Romney, but Cautiously”

Not this one...

Willard is a liberal abortion supporter, gay marriage supporter, liberal judge supporter,
government mandate supporter, global warmer and tax raiser... plus he’s in a cult.

Not going to happen. I vote for conservatives.

Sometimes one’s best choice is a bad choice. Setting on your ass and doing nothing is what Obama wants you to do. By default you are supporting the entire Obama agenda.

“... ask yourself, who, of the persons now bidding for the job over the next four years, and all the decades that follow, best exemplifies that definition of “good steward”.”

OR a better question.

... Would you rather have an enemy we can openly and fiercely oppose and that will galvanize our whole team to fight for America, or a false liberal friend, who will lead the establishment RINOs into the identical liberal causes and that they will feel they must support because he is their president?

I believe that people can evolve from their earlier beliefs. Ronald Reagan once voted for abortion. He changed. And he stayed changed. Romney also claims he is now pro-life. Until I see a deviation from that I am willing to give him a pass.

Are you serious? Surely you can’t be. If it was one issue and Romney had “evolved” from that, I’d be willing to give him a pass, too. But Romney has flipped and flopped on EVERY ISSUE that has ever come up, and more than once. His wife said he can argue both sides so well, you don’t know which one he’s on, and the man even lied about his own NAME in one of the debates. He will blow with the wind, and tell whoever he’s with what they want to hear. The fact that supposed thinking conservatives can even think about trusting such a liar is frightening to me.

If you search through my posts you will discover that I support Newt. Now that Romney looks inevitable, I am just beginning to study his record as Gov. of MA. I do not have any concerns about his financial management skills. No one has ever made quarter of a Billion dollars without that skill. I already know he was a social liberal in MA. But if he also was a fiscal liberal in MA, that would be disappointing to me.

However I know one thing for certain. Obama is 100% liberal on BOTH social and fiscal issues. There is no way I would do anything to help Barack.

Yes, Romney is a financial whiz. That’s why he left Massachusetts in such horrible shape.

If you’re researching his record, you should search SoConPubbie’s posts. He’s done some good work on Romney, both fiscal and social.
