Mark Levin on Santorum’s exit: ‘The Republican establishment got its way’
Daily Caller\ ^ | 4-12-12 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 04/12/2012 8:25:54 PM PDT by Mozilla

On his Tuesday radio show, conservative talker Mark Levin, author of “Ameritopia: The Unmaking of America,” reacted to former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum effectively ending his campaign with an announcement in Gettysburg, Pa., calling for his listeners to be “realists.” Levin had been an outspoken critic of Mitt Romney, but conceded that Romney’s likely nomination was a win for the so-called Republican establishment.

“Well the Republican establishment got its way,” Levin said. “The Republican establishment has won yet again. Some of you are very upset about it. Some of you are self-delusional — not many. Some of you are thinking, ‘Well, what you mean? This is conservatism.’ No it’s not. Just because you’re not Obama doesn’t mean you’re a conservative or a constitutionalist.”

SORRY! I meant NEWT.

You posted that correction in the nick of time. I was about to go on a major rant. Thanks :-)

he also said "we conservatives" have to work together and pull out a win for Mitt Romney - those words coming out of the mouth of Mark Levin... nothing makes sense anymore..

So true. Mark Levin is the last person I would ever expect to bend over for the big government liberal, Romney. For all his bluster about conservative principles and idealism, he turned coward when the going got rough.

Mark rolled as easily as a spineless jellyfish. Breaks my heart. I don't ever want to hear him utter the names of the Founding Fathers again. They'd spit if they heard him.

Levin is a pragmatist. He believes in supporting the most conservative nominee that can win, but once the nominee is chosen (even if it is a RINO) he will support that candidate in an effort to defeat the greater Democrat evil.

That would be logical if we were discussing someone like GWB, but this is Willard Romney we're talking about. The man is an abject, big L, liberal. He's barely half a step to the right of Obama. Throwing ones support behind him, as a logical conservative choice, makes no sense whatsoever.

Levin can't think, in my opinion. He's stuck in some non-existent paradigm. Romney will govern nearly identically as Obama, but without the charm (/sarc). Their agendas (by actual documentary evidence) are practically one and the same. There's nearly no daylight between them, yet we're supposed to believe that he's the safer choice.

Romney is NOT the safer choice, because Republicans will give him a pass on a heinous political agenda, where they'd be in FIRM opposition to Obama, were he to present the exact same things to them.

You would think that someone as smart as Levin could see this.

Yes, it did but it took a lot longer and was more taxing to the establishment than ever before. There’s more resistance than ever.

“Mark sounds very heavy-hearted. But he’s right. Mitt is still in there and he should get everyone’s support right now even if it doesn’t seem likely.”

My vote. Followed by a long shower to wash off the stink. Not my support.

Actual conservatives will go into immediate opposition to the Romney administration, once the more odious Obama administration is gone.

“The second largest stockholder in News Corp. is a Saudi prince.”

Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal owns 7% of NewsCorp stock. He’s a major stockholder in a myriad of corporations - and he and Rupert Murdoch are old friends who invest in many of one another’s companies.

I hoped for:

1. Palin
2. Cain
3. Gingrich
4. Santorum.

One of the last things Breitbart said was, work like Hell for the candidate you want, but if your candidate does not win, you have to consolidate behind whoever wins, because if you don't you are joining the evil of Obama. Romney is not our candidate of choice, but to say he is a half step to the right of Obama is simply false, abjectly idiotic, and flat out wrong.

Obama represents evil incarnate, I'm sorry, Willard is a RINO squish, but he does not hate America or its exceptionalist premise, he will not abandon free markets, he will not nominate Sonya Sotamayer or anything like her, he will not kill babies indiscriminately, he will not kill us with class warfare or racialist nonsense, he will not put up with a racist, fascist, bumbling idiot as AG, he will not put up with things like Fast and Furious.

I could go on forever, please understand RINO does not equal EVIL DICTATOR! There are ways to push Willard to the right, there isn't a prayer in Hell with the One.

All I can say it is a good thing Levin et al were not on the banks of the Delaware on Christmas night, they'd be running to and fro telling the First Patriots they needed to be realists, and was King George really that bad? Forget the boats, did you see those ice floes, a lot of us don't even have shoes. It's Christmas, guys... it's freezing. Let's get some sleep... some nice hot rum.

LOL!

Especially funny, realizing Levin likely does not even celebrate Christmas.

What a super analogy, and one which is very near and dear to Newt's heart.
Newt is inspired, in spite of the turncoats.

PRobably that he owns 7% and has not voting power unless he is part of a larger group. He is only the 2nd largest individual stockholder, but he is not the 2nd largest group.

As for Newt, he said Newt was mentally "losing it" and nobody needs to follow him as he ping pongs around. It was quite devastating to hear.

I heard him say that. He also spouted the canard that one day Newt says it looks like Romney will be the candidate and the next he says he in till Tampa, leaving out the fact that Santorum quit between the 2 statements. I couldn't believe it was Levin.

Romney Needs to Quit

The Primary was a trial,
One that has revealed,
Romney lacks the Fire in the Belly,
That thrills the crowds so frail.

On and on the Chuckle-Meister,
Repeats his scripted lines.
No soaring rhetoric, inspiring words
There is no sand for the line.

Enter Left, the Marxist orator,
With basketball in hand,
Romney dribbles as he walks,
To bow and shake his better’s hand - - - .

I learned yesterday of the term GOP-e, the establishment. I think I can accept that as a generalization that for me is preferable to the misused RINO. RINO creep it seems had become GOP-e. ........ but I digress.

I like to take a long view of events and as I back off and look at the events that have unfolded I see the GOP-e dominant and the conservatives unable to compete and then prevail. It seems that while there is a strong conservative force, it is not really large enough nor cohesive enough to raise money and to prevail.

Rush likes to say that America is a conservative Nation. I would argue that may not be the case. Conservatives in spite of recent Tea Party events and gatherings are actually unable to muster and concentrate the political energy and force adequate to nominate a Presidential candidate. I would also argue that Conservatism is not homogenous nor monolithic. There are folks with conservative views that see Mitt Romney as the winner and therefore vote for the presumed winner. That conservative minded person thereby becomes a moderate. My cousin is just such a person.

The good news about 2012 was that there were several outstanding conservatives battling for the nomination. I had difficulty deciding which I liked best and would support. Alas Herman Cain was destroyed and that left Newt who is hanging on by his fingernails.

In America we have two parties rather than a host of small parties. These parties nominate a presidential candidate that is and always will be a compromise to the strength of the various coalitions that are also coalesced into the party. If you think of the big tent, those inside mingle in groups that are in turn a mingling of smaller like minded groups that loudly shout their views and hope to prevail.

History has shown that while the strength of one of the subgroups that might even be part of a larger sub group leaves the tent, it fails to be effective. That is, all talk of a third party being ascendant is bravado, chest beating, ineffectiveness.

Rather than despair, I have confidence that the conservative message will be delivered and have some effect. That effort ill be made in the House and in the Senate. It may not totally prevail, but it will be a positive force.

If we carry the big tent and mingling groups a little further, if the candidate of the tent is developed in a primary, why do we not end the conservative multiple candidate quandary by having a secondary? That is, the sub sub mingling groups some of which are sub-sub-sub groups have their battle prior to the primary and present one candidate supported as a unified base?

Rather than chest beating and a third party, I propose a secondary in which the sub minglers coalesce around the support and financing of a much stronger candidate for the primary.

Thanks, but no thanks. LOL! Levin has proved himself to be a REAL PUSSY!

I think I will adopt an abused “PUSSY” in honor of Levin!

“Liberty and Tyranny”, my arse! “If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

I must’ve missed the overwhelming victories at the polls where Santorum or Newt garnered enough actual votes to win the nomination.

Did the Republican establishment somehow make these votes disappear?
