ATLANTA, Ga. (AP) -- Police in Georgia handcuffed a kindergartner with her arms behind her back after the girl threw a tantrum and the police chief defended the action as a safety measure.
The girl's family demanded Tuesday that their central Georgia city change policy so that other children aren't treated the same way.

Poor police procedure - without a follow-up tazing, she could stll hurt her wrists on the cuffs by struggling.
And the Teachers, administrators and the police demand that you discipline your wilda$$ child before you send her out in public!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t know. In the good old days, the teacher would have been able to give the little brat a swat on the butt before the tantrum got out of hand. Hand cuffing seems mild in comparison. Having said that, the fact that the police were called for a child’s tantrum is crazy.
I don’t agree with handcuffing such a small child, but a stern talking to by the officer backed up by a warmed fanny would have been much better.
I have seen children literally scream until they’re purple, and what does mommy do, she buys them what they want. Reward for tantrums just brings about bigger and better fits. I for one have a difficult time being around such children.
Either this or corporal punishment.
I completely agree. Unfortunately, the school systems' hands are so tied these days, they probably didn't know what else to do.

At least this thread isn’t starting out in breaking.
I don't recall getting it "burned" in kindergarten but I got a couple a bit farther down the road. My big fear was that Mom might find out and there was certainly no thought of retribution against the school or teacher.
I have 2 daughters. Neither looks like Salecia.
“I dont agree with handcuffing such a small child ...”
This small child grabbed pictures off the wall and turned a bookcase over on the principal, causing injury. She could not be controlled by school standards now.
These days, if a school employee takes hold of a child, the school is sued. Calling the police was the only way out of this. The child had to be stopped.
That’s a good one. :-)
Even though I don’t agree with the handcuffing I would have given a months pay to be locken in a room with this brat for 2 minutes.
Some parents are proud of their little savages. I for one can’t stand the fact that these so called parents inflict these little savages on society.
Parents are responsible for all damages and injuries incurred. Bet people won’t see one sime of it.
Meant “one dime of it”.
How 'bout a Tazer For Tots?
Curb those Terrible Two's tandrums, give your unruly toddler an attitude adjustment.
Spanking your little kindergartner is so outdated, "Tazer For Tots" is the new PC tool for the modern family.
With behavior like that and parents who put the blame for her bad behavior on the teachers then handcuffing is something this little monster had better get used to. She’s probably going to be getting this treatment a lot in her future.
Soon she will grow up and start wearing hoodies and then someone will shoot her for getting all thug like.
It’s the pattern in her life. We’ll be posting about how she was shot down in her teen life and was turning her life around after starting a career as a up and coming rap star.
Keeping it real.
LOL
Gots to get me some of that!
It was probably safer to cuff her than to whack her evil little behind with a baton.
It's about time the authoritahs stopped pretending that it wasn't.
Obama’s army of Jack Booted Thugs!
