Opus Time
Vanity Opus

Posted on 04/17/2012 4:47:30 PM PDT by Williams

Well it's been about 13 years forgot my initial sign in name, so pretty much from the beginning.

Never wanted to write a Free Republic Opus, love reading news stories here and commenting every day.

Would rather not go out in anger seems pointless.

Then today the owner of the site called me a RINO (I'm not), surrender monkey (not) and told me to write my opus and get out.

My sin was fighting with someone who suggested Obama losing in the latest poll is "bad news".

I could list all the insanity of what is going on here. I've tried to approach Jim Robinson in email to gently suggest the problems we are facing. It's clear from that he is not interested in discussing and resolving anything, which is a shame.

But what kind of man, American, conservative will I be if I worry more about losing my 12 year old screen name versus standing up to people who are espousing the advisability of reelecting Barack Hussein Obama, and yes if I fail to stand up to the owner of a site for calling me a liberal when I am a proud conservative?

What Jim Robinson is doing cannot work because first of all he is NOT attacking the posters who say it is best to reelect Obama. He's offended by anyone who says he is thereby supporting Obama. But he doesn't mind calling us names when we attack the pro Obamas.

OK folks, it's not going to work. You can't really oppose Obama's reelection if you may also oppose the republican's election.

Free Republic has become a house divided against itself and it cannot stand.

I'm a conservative I love my country, I have to wish away to the cornfield anyone who would assist in the reelection of Obama, from whatever misguided motivations.

I stand with Dick Cheney. The other day I had to fight with someone disparaging Cheney here. They were not criticized by the owner.

Jim Robinson owes me an apology. Not planning on getting one. The sad fact is I am not writing this because I'm offended. It's because I want to no longer assist here in the destruction of my country by those who will, to varying degrees, assist in Obama's reelection.

Six or seven liberals on the Supreme Court? Maybe atomic destruction down the pike after our disarmament. Israel destroyed. 2nd Amendment neutered. Obamacare used to deny people medical care based on age and political beliefs. Racial strife. A welfare socialist state. US attorneys going after republicans.

My wife is a cancer survivor who reasonably fears that in the future they will deny her care because she is a registered republican. And she's no RINO, she hates Obama and she won't read Free Republic stories anymore because of what is going on here.

We have a real country and real lives out here that go beyond Jim Robinson's ill advised name calling against sincere conservatives who dare to disagree with him.

So F anyone who calls me a RINO for standing with Dick Cheney and against Barack Obama. I hate RINO's and I despise misguided so called conservatives who do anything to reelect Obama.

13 years, but it's nothing when put to the wall on my beliefs against the left wing democrat party. I have too many mirrors to look in. The people here who are every day posting that it will be best to reelect Obama, should be thrown off. Instead, well...

It's over.

America is going to hit the wall.

Short of God interveining in some miraculous way I have to agree with you...it's just a matter of when.

Some say by years end we'll begin to see the "thunder" so to speak...others say that we might have two to three years before it majorly falls....

Certainly the wealthy understand this as many have taken other residential homes in other countries....their "bug out" destinations. Not to mention politicians sticking very close to one another and also preparing.

It's been said "watch what they do, not what they say". Of course the Elites will all have their revenues stashed in foreign countries. Company's also moving out more than moving in. So keeping an eye on their behavior is pretty interesting..

Do these people think that magically wolf#2s stats will go poof and suddenly become conservative once elected?

Yes they do...they think they have to choose between Romney and Obama ONLY because that's what the see. They don't see there are alternatives...they can vote for Newt or someone else....or don't vote.

I'm investigating further about this foreign company who supposedly is going to be counting the votes in the general election. So far looks like Obama will surely win, if that is so,as there's no way we can do recounts. Do the whole election may very well be a farce to begin with.

I won't be voting for Romney under any circumstances...he's equally as troubling as Obama..and in many ways moreso IMO.

A single election cannot destroy our country. Endless ideological capitulation will.

Imagine what liberals would do if Ronald Reagan, in all his conservative glory, somehow became the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party. This is how utterly out of phase we are with the bald-faced liar: Romney.

There may have been a miscommunication on my part. I think you were responding to the ‘ruins’ of the party when I meant the ruins of the country.
In turn, I probably should have been more clear that I meant the ruins of country more than party.
I know you don’t mean ‘be passive’ but without organization, organizational unity, hierarchy, leadership, valor only ends in a glorious death in defeat.
Well, we've been without it for long enough as it is.

But I don't want anything other than a properly-construed government (as opposed to the improperly-consecrated State) whose sole legitimate business---other than protecting and defending us from predators at home (real predators, if you please, not mere vicemongers) and enemies actual or demonstrably/provably iminent from abroad---is to leave her citizens the hell alone; to stay the hell out of your business, my business, every citizen's business, until or unless one citizen would obstruct or abrogate another's equivalent rights.

Who's going to start the journey back? I only wish I knew. It's easier, unfortunately, to see who isn't going to start the journey back.

Unfortunately, further, it doesn't look like we're going to get anywhere near beginning that journey this time around. Not based on what's incumbent in Washington now, not based on what at least one major party's going to be stuck with for November. (There was a part of me that had half a hope that some brazen but disillusioned Democrat might think of a primary challenge to His Excellency, but only a part, and you don't need me to tell you how that prospect worked out!)

I'd like to say that the smart place to concentrate would be upon Capitol Hill, but I'm not necessarily optimistic about those prospects, either. (I'm still mindful of Mr. Reagan's admonition that from the outside Washington looks like a sewer but, once you get inside, it starts feeling more like a hot tub, something like that, I can't recall the precise word-for-word remark right now.)

But then I'm of a breed that doesn't look upon the government as the alpha and omega of all. The ruination of the country began when people began looking at the government in that way, and those looks began long enough before any of us were born . . .

“It is simply not possible to be and remain a conservative and vote for Mitt Romney”

You mean like Ted Nugent?

Heck no! I think I mentioned it further down the thread that it was done with a Greasemonkey script. Think I need to run it again just to see how it looks now that we’re at 500+ posts.

For me, standing up to the tyranny that now besets us, is more than just lofty rhetoric. I can trace my direct lineage back to an American who fired at the British in anger during the Revolutionary War.

Since his time, a lot of my fathers have shed blood, or have sacrificed greatly to stand guard over this fragile republic. What sort of son would I be if I meekly accepted the left’s terms of surrender in my day? I’m not standing in harm’s way with a rifle in my hand, like so many of them did.

No - I’m armed with only a ballot, by whose markings my fathers shall judge me. I would not even think of sullying their honor by giving my solemn vote to a man and a party, who have essentially gone into abject Treason against the very things my forefathers fought and bled for.

Well I can understand that comletely... I was just four years old when my father died from shrapnel wounds. My Uncle died in the war serving on the front lines.

I have two sons who have served and one continues to do so. So our family knows what "freedom" is...as well as what it is not.... what our country is becoming is NOT what they gave their life and service for!!!!...

The only real security of liberty, in any country, is the jealousy and circumspection 'Of The People' themselves.... Let them be watchful over their rulers...... Should they find a combination against their liberties, and all other methods appear insufficient to preserve them, they have, thank God, an ultimate remedy.... That power which created the government can destroy it....

('James Irdell'....was one of the first Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States..... He was appointed by President George Washington and served from 1790 until his death in 1799......he was a leader of 'the Federalists' in North Carolina, and a strong supporter of the proposed 'Constitution'....SS James Iredell, a ship in World War II, was named after Iredell.

Yes, I do think so as well. It will come to that I’m afrad, if the people are pushed too far. What that limit is remains to be seen. I have no doubt our politicians have considered this as well, though perhaps not openly.

God bless those in your family who've given all to serve our nation, and bless those who continue to serve.

The quote you posted rings loudly of the choice we Americans must make, if we're to honor those who sacrificed everything to defend our God-given freedoms.

"The only real security of liberty, in any country, is the jealousy and circumspection 'Of The People' themselves.... Let them be watchful over their rulers...... Should they find a combination against their liberties, and all other methods appear insufficient to preserve them, they have, thank God, an ultimate remedy.... Good example. There is a man who wholly abandoned his conservative beliefs to support Romney.

Unless one thinks a lifetime 2Ammend. advocate is acting ‘conservative’ and upholding ‘conservative’ principles by voting/backing a politician who passed laws that are the polar opposite (gun control) of what that means.

To be clear. This also applies to any ‘pro-life’ person who backs/votes for a candidate that put McBabyparts on the Mass. $50 abortion menu.

This also applies to Gay marriage opponents who back/vote for a candidate who passed laws making gay marriage legal

This also applies to people who believe that Global Warming is a liberal fantasy and then for for a man CURRENTLY CAMPAIGNING on the invented ‘fact’ that it’s real.

In over 4000 posts and counting over these threads, not a single Romney ABO type has even attempted to seriously refute that. They have dodged, deflected, ducked, called names like a spurned teen girl, stomped feet, hurled false accusations and generally acted every bit like the DU types they claim to oppose.

But the questions/issues remain and their best effort it “Well I’m gonna do it’.

And we wonder why the world is the way it is when principles, truth and logic matter to so few.... If you vote or support Romney, the fact is, you leave conservatism at the door to do it. And anyone so easily abandoning their beliefs will do it every time it’s continent to do so. That is NOT conservative by anyone’s honest definition.

told ya...

NEW YORK —Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich told Republicans at a New York state party dinner that he would work for Mitt Romney’s victory in the general election if Romney wins the nomination.

“We are dedicated to a unified Republican Party,” he said.

Speaking Thursday in New York City, Gingrich said he’s stayed in the race “to articulate big themes and big ideas” but that “we have a moral obligation to defeat Barack Obama.”

To that end, he said, he would work to support Romney, and he said Romney would do the same for him. “Romney and I have discussed this,” he said.

>>”My duty as I see it is to ensure that the least harm comes from this election and taking my ball and going home just because I don’t get my way is not the answer. Fight for a conservative in the primary and in all local elections. But, in the general election, staying home and not voting is the mathematical equivalent to voting for Zero and I won’t do that.”<<
