Wow, another American icon passing away. Our generation had the great fortune of growing up with Clark, Carson, Sullivan, Hope, and a whole host of others with true talent without the sleaze and foul language.
I'm saddened by what the current generation has to look forward to in their elder years when it comes to comedy and "oldies" music......

Yep. My mother nad her sister danced on AB when it was in Philadelphia. She always had nice things to say about him and the program. I worked for a few years with his brother in law who was a great guy himself who always said good things about Dick.

Even after his stroke you still expected him to bounce right back because he always seemed so young. But age has finally caught up with him.

Thanks for all the great memories

Sorry to hear. I got to meet and interview him some years back about his guest appearance on Branded. He was very gracious. Afterward, I kicked myself for not thanking him for introducing Paul Revere & the Raiders to the rest of the country beyond the Pacific Northwest where they were already popular; and when Where the Action Is might show up on home video.

sad...American Dreams, the TV series he produced, was incredible....it came right after 9-11; i watched and tried not to cry considering what the nation was going through...
that said- it was very tough watching him on New Years Eve- on one hand i wanted to applaud him for his courage on the other i thought he had made his point the first year he returned from his stroke....

I liked him on the Pyramid, both the daytime and nighttime version of the Pyramid. The $10,000 Pyramid, the $25,000 Pyramid, and the $100,000 Pyramid.
However,Regis wasn’t as good in the Million Dollar Pyamid.
RIP DC.

“Ive never heard of American Bandstand”
Anyone who listened to rock, pop, doo-wop or R&B in the 50s and 60s has. American Bandstand was the rock answer to “Your Hit Parade,” which you probably haven’t heard of either.
