South Florida civil rights leaders held a protest Wednesday in connection with controversial comments made by a Miami-Dade Fire Department Captain in the Trayvon Martin case.

Beckmann’s personal Facebook posting read, “I and my coworkers could rewrite the book on whether our urban youths are victims of racist profiling or products of their failed, *expletive*, ignorant, pathetic, welfare dependent excuses for parents.”

With papers in hand Dunn led the activists up to the 29th floor at County Hall and demanded to meet with the Mayor. Mayor Carlos Gimenez, however, was out at an event in Hialeah. They pledged to keep the pressure on Gimenez until he decides what should be done.

“His actions or no actions will indicate how he feels about Mr. Brian Beckman’s statements. About Mr. Brian Beckman’s racism.” said Dunn.

Beckmann didn't even mention race. Note the not too thinly veiled threat at the mayor. One of the speakers (guy from Federation of Black Employees) said he was outraged that his tax dollars would be used to pay Backmann's salary - the irony is rich there.

Stating facts is never a crime.
Making personal inferences to use later as a means to attack someone else is lame at best, fraudulent at worst.

Since neither a race nor any particular individuals were named, Mr. Dunn seems to have self-identified as the representative of “...failed, *expletive*, ignorant, pathetic, welfare dependent excuses for parents.” If his assessment is correct, on what basis should such persons be defended? If he is wrong, his “constituents” should be offended, by him. Another fine community activist.
