I want to ask those who consider themselves conservatives, and are going to vote for Romney because he happens to have an (R) instead of a (D) behind his name on the ballot sheet, where do you draw your personal line in the sand and say "No more"? For stupid people reading this (liberals and DHS type workers), I don't mean violence - I mean not voting for "the lesser of two evils".
I had considered voting for Cthulha ("Cthulhu for President. Why vote for a lesser evil?") but ultimately I guess I'll have to agree with you, hold my nose and, yet again, take the lesser evil. I hate it but I can't fathom what 4 more years of Obama would do to this country.
So Romney will save the Supreme Court?
If you say so...

Take a look at Romney’s appointments as governor and you will see that his picks are no better.
I’m voting for Romney, because I’m not wasting my vote for 4 years of total gridlock.
I’m voting to increase the tea party pressure on the GOPe. Romney may be a eggsucker of a candidate, but he will have to sign the bills that hit his desk. He might even cut the government by a billion.
Either way, someone’s ass is out in 2016; if we all make it that long.
Romney is not my first choice...but I don’t see where the question could possible be between him and obama!!! I’m hoping that we keep the house and take the senate too, that will keep Romney a bit more on the conservative side....I hope!
First term Romney vs lame duck Obama. Then in four years, "Romney 2016" vs post-Obama.

Romney is beyond my line in the sand.
I voted for my man NEWT in our AZ primary back in Feb - I’m not so foolish as to take my pen and go home because if I don’t vote for MITT in NOvember WE WON’T HAVE A HOME TO GO TO if Obama gets re-elected! IT’s that simple...I’ll change my affiliation after the election to whatever the new conservative party becomes (and it is coming - but not before I help vote OUTthe SCOURGE OF AMERICA - BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA! and I believe helping all THE REPUBLICAN CONGRESS MEN AND WOMEN get elected so we can have control over the house and senate!
Dunno, but I’m pretty sure Obama is on the other side of it.
There is no lesser evil... there is just evil... and obama and romney are both evil men. I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR EITHER POS!
LLS
Well said. Government itself is a necessary evil. We have a 2 party system and the election winner will be one of the candidates of the two major party's. Willard or Hussein. Choose one. For anyone on the right side of the political spectrum, write-in's, 3rd party's, or sitting home pouting is effectively an endorsement of the status-quo.
I campaigned for and financially supported Cain.
I campaigned for Gingrich.
I will color in a box for Romney.
The next four years could see as many as four Supreme Court justices needing to be replaced. Republicans can bully Romney into nominating conservative justices. Four justices can change the future landscape of this Great Nation. But in which direction will we go?
After voting for every Republican candidate since Nixon’s second term, I did not vote for Dubya the first time.
I spent 4-years with a perfectly clear conscience and a calm view of politics.
I then chickened out and voted for Dubya the next time because I didn’t want Kerry to be Commander in Chief while we were in Iraq.
Those next 4-years nearly killed me with rage at Dubya’s RINO ways.
I’m never going to cave again. I will only vote conservative. From now on, “The
event is in the hand of God”.
Sorry, but when faced with two evils I think following any course other than what is required to get the lesser is just dead stupid. I loathe McCain, but I still voted for him to try to avoid the current disaster we’re suffering through. The spoiled children really proved a point by refusing to vote for McCain last time, didn’t they? Yeah that worked out well for us. Five trillion thanks guys. Instead of a McKennedy we could work on to force right, we’ve got a committed leftist appointing life-term judges to our federal courts at every level. Allowing a hardcore leftist to stay in office just to spite the RINO establishment is the wrong hill to die on. Just as I love it when Democrats vote for Greens, you can be sure the Democrats will love it when you vote for anyone other than the GOP nominee. This country was steered off course by increments over decades and I’m afraid that’s the only way we’ll get it back where it belongs. We need to go for wins where we can, but it’s dumb not to also limit damage where that’s the best option available.
I voted for Sarah the last time. It will be based on the VP choice - which will be none of the current suggestions. mitt is a LIBERAL.
Would you rather be victimized by a shoplifter or a serial killer?
Stabilize the patient first...
Vote for Romney in 2012, then primary challenge him in 2016.
Even if we get “the status quo”, that is better than a second Obama term. People would vote for Hillary if she had an R after her name because she would be slightly better than Obama.
I don’t like the choice, and will likely write in Romney on the “RINO” ticket to express my displeasure.
I will not vote for Romney.
Romney invented mandate healthcare. Obama liked it so much he used it as Obamacare for the whole country. Now we get to pick between Obama and Romney. No way in H!
I plan on voting for anyone but Obama or Romney and hen I’ll vote against any incumbent no matter what party.
What I seek to understand is what kind of judges will Milt appoint to the SCOTUS. We know what leftist slugs little barry bastard will appoint and the feckless Congress will approve. Will Milt nominate appeasement types to placate the commie democrats, like he did in Massoftwoshits? I wonder if there is any way to gauge this? ... And for the record, I don’t believe one word out of the liar’s mouth. He has shown he will lie with a straight face to get votes, but he remains a liberal scumbag.
“FREEPERS!!! Support Mitt Romney as though the fate of a FREE United States depended on it. That is the reality!”
Sorry
I truly believe its too late. True Obamas is a dark commie red inside but Romney is a dark shade of pink. Why do I say this ... just contemplate where they align
Pro Choice - Both
Pro Gay Agenda- Both
Anti Gun- Both
Appoint only liberal judges - Both
Government controlled health care - Both
Big government solutions through high taxes - Both
Views the citizens as subjects to be controlled through policy- Obama
Views the citizen as virtual employees to be controlled by corporatist policy views- Romney
crony capitalism - both
beieve in global warming - both
and Im sure there are those her that can find more where they are mor the same than different...
I will not vote for a pinko no mater the shade.....

C’mon y’all, time to vote for the Goode instead of the lesser of two evils!
I will vote for Mitt....I believe he can fix this economy, he’s a successful hardworker and I think his wife will make a lovely first lady.....
Everything posted here shows that Romney will move with the political winds, and the success of his campaign organization, the Olymics, Bain Capital show that he is a talent executive. So we will be voting for him, and then turning up the heat so that he governs as a Constitutionalist and not a Progressive.
Two reasons to do this: appointments, especially judicial, and exxecutive orders.
Two important reasons.
I would too - cheerfully - but road kill is unfortunately not one of our choices. We're stuck between a hateful but inept big government socialist who has the virtue of being too incompetent to accomplish his goals, or a potentially far more capable and somewhat more mainstream big government liberal who is likely to be more effective in moving America in the direction liberals dream of. Romney is several large steps too far to the left for my tastes.
Only if conservatives offer up such pathetic alternatives.
I’m having to come to grips with the fact that there is a difference between:
1) voting for Romney in the general election, because 4 more years of Obama is unacceptable
2) supporting Romney
I’m not supporting Romney, but if the only way to get rid of Obama is to cast a vote for Romney then that’s what I’ll have to do (even it if means walking outside and throwing up afterwards).
Don’t mistake my vote for Romney as a vote FOR Romney, it’s a vote against Obama.
Wow - a double-tap that ends up six posts after the original intended post? Impressive... :)
Thanks for posting this... some pretty good responses to your question. I’m happy to see that most have realized that one-of-these-two-will-be-the-next-president and we MUST NOT let that be Obama.
Personally, I’ve been stunned by the level of vitriol being thrown at Romney from FReepers. I suppose the DUers are nastier but it’s hard to imagine.
It’s as if most FReepers are going through the various stages of Grief. Hopefully, they will get all the way to acceptance before November 2012.
Here’s an optimistic thought: I’m already looking forward to the Romney second term. The economic recovery, energy renaissance, stock market surge, and lowered unemployment will be fantastic. Then after the Senate supermajority occurs due to the 2014 mid-terms, most entitlements are reformed and the tax code improved.
Think about it...
I fear an Obama second term considerably more than I fear a Romney first term.
When you take the emotion out of it, it's a pretty simple math problem. Obama gets more votes, conservatism suffers another setback.
Conservatism needs better House/Senate leadership.
I am not voting for Romney because he has an (R) in front of this name. I am voting for him BECAUSE of who he is running against. If his opponent was Jim Webb (for example) I might vote for a 3rd party. HOWEVER, he is running against an America Hater we stupidly put in charge of America. This is no normal election. We have a person in the WH who wants to tear this country down. Give me a snake-oil politician any day.
They have no line.
They are Party over Principle voters.
I voted for Perot and we got Billy Bob Clinton. I will enver vote thirda party again.
I will be voting a straight Republican ticket in order to not only clean out the White House, but to clean out every seat below it of vermin.
The Democratic party has become dangerous to the health of our Republic and it is time we sanitize it of socialist vermin.
Ditto
I hate to say it, but this is probably the most profound statement that I have heard on this particular subject. And I have to agree with it.
The Republicans have already ceded the election to Obama.
You’re insane if you think you can win an election when the best the candidate’s own supporters have to work with is “yeah, we know he’s a lying socialist chameleon, but...”
Agreed.
You pretend to want to start a conversation but you begin by flinging a stupid, trivial, cliche insult.
Why wouldn't anyone reading your post simply conclude that you are too close-minded to be worth trying to engage in a discussion?
You have some growing up to do, "student".
Aside from asking someone to be a victim, I find your analogy to be the most cogent so far.
Agreed.
Because the primary mission is to remove this regime from power.
Of those who ran in the primary, only Ron Paul would cause me to hesitate.
Now there's a campaign message that's going to win folks over! /s
I know you. We played softball together as kids and when we wouldn't let you pitch, you took your ball and went home.
And they will! They did it this year. They did it in 2008. They'll keep doing it. There's never enough backlash to dissuade them.
If we ever choose to scratch their eyes out rather than lie back and enjoy the assault, we may get a different result. But that takes fortitude and principles.
