Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin may not be allowed to return to the United States after he renounced his citizenship to save millions in tax. The 30-year-old, who has a $3.64billion stake in the social networking site, migrated to Singapore ahead of the company's massive stock market floatation tomorrow.

Amen. And . . . if this country ever falls to Second, let alone Third World status, I believe that all the American expats in Third Worlds can expect a "It's PAYBACK Time!" reaction from their host country. Many are envious to the point of vindictiveness or at least will cop a "Tough Noogies" attitude as the locals get "revenge for past wrongs".
What escape route is analogous to America in the 30's?
And, maybe hire more people. Maybe put some people to work in US.
From Top Secret:
Hillary Flammond: My uncle was born in America.
Nick Rivers: Oh, really?
Hillary Flammond: But he was one of the lucky ones. He managed to escape in a balloon during the Jimmy Carter presidency.
“I wake up in the night with my heart pounding: Is this Germany in the 1930s? Should I stand and fight, or take my family and get the hell out?”
There was only one right answer for the family in the 1930’s, though it doubtless would have entailed considerable hardship as well.
If the US didn’t reach the point of no return in 2008, an obama win in 2012 would be the tipping point for certain. Fiscally, the point of no return was reached in 2009/2010.
Do both. Have a list of your local varmints....when the balloon goes up and you see the critters dropping like flies, add to the carnage by crossing of those on your list.....think locally, act globally.
Also....look at cheap real estate OCONUS and keep your passports up to date, get passport cards (only work on CONUS borders), and try to buy foreign currencies on the dips.
Even though the Euro may collapse, I have a few hundred Euros, Mexican pesos, etc. I'm thinking of getting more New Zealand and Phillipines currency, but am buying gold and silver on the dips. Its obvious to say that you should have a ready bag, self-defense firearms and ammo. (BLOAT).
Good luck, and stay prepared.
the major worry to me is that DHS appears to be actively planning towards that scenario as well. I can only imagine what types of lists and detainment/action plans they have for such a scenario. Pogroms are a great way to quell dissent in a transition period.
please review your statement... it may have been accurate 10 years ago, but no longer
don’t think so? try being a TEA party member and wonder why the current _resident has the IRS searching you out for daring to speak up.
don’t like their tax policies so you leave? then they will bar you from ever coming back to the US (they don’t even bar illegals)
they’re already demanding ex-pat banking information and confiscating their accounts in foreign banks... how long before they demand extradition on such ex-pats?
smells like Atlas Shrugged
Obamas major successes :
1) Gun sales
2) Gold sales
3) Americans renouncing citizenship
The only reason we hear about this one guy is the impending IPO. GE, Microsoft, and many others are sheltering hundreds of billions offshore.
And you can if you wish complain out loud and call this IRS and its myrmidons bastages in every rag from coast to coast (if you have the patience to write the letters).
Try that in Singapore.
i wouldn’t have to
the taxes in Singapore are 10%
and if i didn’t like it...
I COULD LEAVE WITHOUT HAVING TO CONTINUE PAYING
seriously, you have to check your conservative credentials if you start to think 50+% on WORLDWIDE income, whether or not you continue to live in the US, makes any sense to you
Somehow I’m just not thinking the Brazilian living in Singapore with a Chinese girlfriend is that concerned.
You are confounding the issues of tax rates and targeted harassment.
Were Singapore to initiate targeted harassment by their own taxation bureau, you couldn’t scream out loud about it. You would as you have yourself admitted only be able to depart.
“A country with only good news in its newspapers has good people in its prisons.”
As a P.S. it sounds like you would have your price for sacrificing freedom of speech.
He didn’t actually renounce his citizenship for the taxes. He renounced because of the foreign investment rules. He’s born of Brazilian parents in the US, and now he lives in Singapore. Americans have a lot of paperwork they have to do when they invest in foreign companies, Brazilians don’t, Singapore doesn’t. So he renounced bureaucracy. And gets a nice tax break in the process.
Uh, I don’t think he cares about being banned.
freedom of speech? really??
i’ll make sure to check with A.Breitbart on how that’s ‘tolerated’ in the US...
They'd be better off trying to figure out how to keep the kid and his money here.......or how to keep the illegals from crossing the southern border.
Greedy? Ya might want to do a google search on him and his family's history before you start throwing out insults........
But I digress, since when has a conservative who favors less taxes and smaller government started being critical of anyone who wishes to protect their hard earned finances?
And when did this rich "greedy basturd" ever make his politics public?
Sounds to me like it's not only the democrats who suffer from class envy.........
