Call it the return of the Reichsfluchtsteuer.

....

“I think Schumer can probably find the legislation to do this. It existed in Germany in the 1930s and Rhodesia in the ‘70s and in South Africa as well,” Norquist said. “He probably just plagiarized it and translated it from the original German.”

The Reichsfluchsteuer, or Reich flight tax, that German government imposed on Jews trying to flee in the 1930s was 25 percent; Schumer and his Senate colleague Bob Casey, Democrat of Pennsylvania, want 30 percent. Give Schumer some credit for creativity.

According to Norquist, the New Yorker did not just plagiarize and translate. He also raised the rate. ....

Is there any more evidence that we need, that we have, or shortly will become, the U.S.S.A.?

This is Soviet-style stuff. I'm expecting we will finally get that wall along the mexican border -- only pointing at US.

Congress and Senate critters are naturally jealous of anyone who has actually earned their fortune.

Which is why they’re jealous of just about everyone.

U.S. Senate - for when you have absolutely, positively no talent or morals whatsoever.

U.S. Congress - for those who are not even as good as senators.

I hate these guys and sl*ts.

All of ‘em.

Have you read the comments of some of FR's conservative "patriots"? Like crabs in a Chinese restaurant's tank.

If someone is renouncing their citizenship and leaving the US because of taxes, opposition to war or for whatever reason all I can say is don't let the door hit you in the ass. Cant feel much sympathy if the get clipped by a 30% tax on the way out..

I think we should at least have a tax for people leaving the country after becoming billionaires during a time when others are overseas fighting and dying to protect their ability to do so. Or maybe stick their new country with a tab for military services performed. Fucking cowards.

Da. And men who leave Soviet Union must pay tax. Soldiers dying in Afganistan for Glorious Communism, comrade! Is effing cowards!

The US Congress consists of two houses ~ the Senate and the House of Representatives.

So, knowing that, what were you saying about this topic?

There is no draft. Our military is a voluntary job. No one is forced to enlist or re-enlist.

And watch your language, please. There are ladies present.

I know I will vote - as I have in EVERY election since I was 18. I’m very confident that you will vote too.

However, considering the relatively few people who can be “bothered” with the greatest “civil duty” bestowed upon a population - we wind up with a small minority determining the future of our country.

Considering that the 48% who pay no taxes, yet reap tremendous benefits from the 52% who do work and pay taxes - have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo. These people have no problem with voter fraud, bribing other derelects, providing parties for the mentally deficient or mentally ill - they realize the importance of getting every vote. This is why Libtards - who make up only about 30% of the US Population - win elections far in excess of their minority viewpoint.

Conservatives/Libertarians/RINOs are busy bickering amongst each other - and as a whole - are too d*mn lazy to vote. If we could, as a group, get off our butts and vote - there wouldn’t be a single Libtard in Washington. Not a one. We out-number them 2:1; yet we are typically big on talk, and short on walk.

...Saverin’s exit from America was “outrageous” and that he would support Schumer’s legislation if it is necessary to prevent people from leaving America to avoid taxes.

The idiocy never stops. Past governor Celeste of OH passed a similar "exit tax" years ago, stating that any company that closed its doors had to pay the equivalent of six months wages as an exit tax. (This was when companies were leaving the North for the South, including Mexico.) The State passed the tax and, after several months, they couldn't figure out why no new businesses had been formed in OH since they passed the tax. Evidently, a bolt of lightning hit somewhere along the line and they repealed the tax.

Still, it's good to see that Chuck's still dumber than a box of rocks.

In all reality we should have been collecting TRIBUTE for the last 72 years ~ just like any ancient conqueror would have done.

This business of giving away our military power is nonsense.

You sound just like Chuck Schumer.

Evidently you believe that government creates wealth, and those who earn it have merely "won life's lottery."

So, exactly what is a tax rate on the "wealthy" that would satisfy you?

Or do you prefer having it high enough that "the rich" would flee if they could?

No matter how much money this feral government collects, it will always want more, you do realize that, right?
